Kyle, wish I could have sent you some of last weeks rain!
prayers for all.

We got a little yesterday, but need more. Wish you could send some this way too.

Good morning! Winter returns after after what seems like several weeks of mild weather. We are going to have our coldest weather since before Christmas over the next several days. 24 now, maybe get to 33 later. Snow, freezing rain tonight into tomorrow.

L4N - nothing wrong using Teflon tape on pipe thread fittings in a hydraulic system. Just leave the last thread or so clear to reduce chance of the tape flaking off into the system. Straight threads should not need tape, should have some sort of O-ring seal with straight thread.

The trip to FL went well. 219 riders signed up. Lots of good racing. We got the new bike working fairly quickly and had a good weekend. Some heat race wins, made the Amateur Dash for Cash, 2 podiums, 2 4ths.

This one is for RNG, I have a Lucas dynamo to rebuild this weekend. Wish me luck!

Everyone have a safe and good weekend

Good to hear on the racing success. 219 is a bunch. Saw where Sammy Halbert jumped ship.

Good morning, the temp here is a chilly -14°F and the high will be on the plus side of zero at 7. Wind NW 2 mph. Sunny.

I have a question for you hydraulic experts; Can I put teflon tape on hydraulic fittings?

Have a good day all

L4N, ditto what Rich said about teflon. Use it.

Good morning! And . . . we're off, on our virtual vacation with tour guide Drew. With this morning thread I go on several vacations a year without leaving the comforts of home. Lots of pics please Drew on the points of interest or strange things.

49˚F heading to the mid 60s, scattered showers, before another cold front sends us into the 30s again tomorrow. Looks like north Texas might get snow, keep us posted Bird and Mostly.
Compressor capper still unsolved I haven't been to the garden all week with these on and off showers.

I have eight land deeds sitting on my table covering a span of 90 years. One is a small parcel of land my dad bought in the 60s that is now my mom's. The problem is that he bought it, I think, with the intension of his brother farming but then his brother died in a automobile accident. The property is only accessible through an UNDEFINED right of way that the new land owner does not acknowledge. This was my Dad's problem which is now mine, trying to help mom. I had a meeting with the lawyer that wrote the deed and he pointed out that the new deed did include the undefined right of way by the unspecified phrase "This conveyance is is made and accepted subject to all valid exceptions, easements, conditions, restrictions and reservations recorded in the county." Now I have to show a paper trail of the ROW starting in 1923 to the new owner. The purpose and hopefully final outcome will be to get a defined ROW otherwise revert back to the original ROW which stated we can cross his property any time and any place. Both the properties loose value with an undefined ROW.

Kyle glad your fence problem was solved.

Eric your observations are always enlightening.

46 degrees for a low and going for a high of 55 today. Yesterday afternoon, I dumped about 3/4" of rain out of my gauge, and this morning I dumped another half inch. It's all been relatively light, but persistent rain; still felt misty when I went out about 6 a.m. and more rain in the forecast. And I've gotta go for my physical torture . . . . . uh . . therapy, this morning, but I'll have to admit that they seem to have solved and ended my back trouble. So I'll continue to do their recommended exercises at home.

Thanks guys. A loose hydraulic fitting is the reason for the query. I am not losing much oil, but I would rather not lose any. That stuff is expen$ive!

Good Morning!!!! 42F @ 5:30AM. Overcast. High 53F. Winds S at 5 to 10 mph.

Saw on the satellite map last night that the storm that just swept through here will meet up with the one in Texas now, and the two will raise Cain with those west of the Mississippi over the weekend. That sounds pretty significant to me, Bill!

Glad tensions are easing on the fence front, Kyle (sorry, no pun intended:eek:). Always more difficult when family is involved.

Good to hear of your comeback, Randy, but not of the runaround. :confused2: Maybe Zicam can help you ward off what's going around?

Bon voyage, Drew. Hope the tire problem gets and easy fix, and the rest of the trip is smooth sailing from there.:cloud9: Dropped by the BMW motorcycle shop yesterday, and they had a customer break a valve stem trying to get a poorly shaped air chuck onto it. The guy wanted them to put new valve stems in that had a 45° angle on them, but to do that, they'd have to dismount the tires. I suggested they sell him a new air chuck, but I guess it's a little late for that, now.:confused2:

Glad you were on your toes and knew when to duck, Thomas!

Sounds like the 2020 race season got off to a good start for your team, Rich. Glad you can still get parts for that dynamo, but if you have trouble with the English instructions, maybe Eric can help translate?

Sorry the lawyer is more worried about dodging the blame than fixing the problem, Don. Lot of that going around these days.:muttering:

Welcome to GM, RobS. Always great to meet another Super Member!

Went to pick up the building permit yesterday, and ran into a big mix up. While the environmental lady did approve the permit, she forgot to cancel a hold she'd put on it just before New Years. She was out sick, they couldn't find anyone else that knew what was going on, and they had to round up a supervisor to sort things out. Then they were going to send me on my way with no information about what inspections were required when, until I started asking "dumb" questions. The impression I got is that I'm supposed to lean on my contractor, who according to the building department guy, should know all that stuff. But as an owner-builder, I'm the one that's responsible, and my contractor is new to this county, so he really doesn't know, either. So finally they produced a checklist, and marked the inspections that I'd need, all four of 'em. Now I realized I should have had the guy sign the piece of paper so we'd know who to blame when they find out an inspection wasn't done and they can't sign off at the end.

But all the parts I ordered were waiting for me at the Subaru dealer, so it was nice to see someone's still on the ball.

And the MRI went smoothly, too, though the gal's Spanish accent made it pretty difficult to figure out what she was trying to tell me.:confused2:

So did the first shingles shot; just a little soreness this morning, and so far at least, no flu like symptoms.

But the day started off with a new mystery. There's a new, crude, barbed wire gate someone installed next to my driveway access, across the old road that goes down to the abandoned boat launch. The kind made of strands of barbed wire and sticks, and you have to lift a loop of wire off the top of the end stick to open the gate. Whoever put it in made it so tight there's no way to get the top loop off. While I was in the county offices, I tried to find out who owned the easement for that road, and all I could find out is that the county says they're not responsible for the road. The new gate meets up with new fence wire stretching to the north, on land that just changed hands a couple years ago. I got into it with the new owner last year when his dog wouldn't stop chasing my truck and motorcycles, so we're already off to a bit of a bad start. The road gives access to fire fighters and state park maintenance people as well, and really shouldn't be gated off. My guess is one of the real rednecks around here will put a chain on the gate and drag it off somewhere, and I just hope they can figure out I wasn't the one that installed it and they don't take my gate down with it.

TGIF gang!:drink:

Had thought about going to the mountains today, but saw it would be minus 2 chill factor this morning.

I remember some cold hikes with the scouts. Not anymore. The wind was brutal yesterday.

24F this morning, need more coffee, but usually catch up on GM thread on first cup. Another couple inches of snow last night, I might have to snow blow the driveway again.. My old team is not happy with their new manager and a couple of them are looking to jump ship.

Drew, safe travels, looking forward to the pics and stories.

Stay safe and prayers for all.

Good morning to all! Low actually went up overnight to 32 at 05:00. Apparently the light snow that was falling when I went to bed, changed to freezing rain and sleet sometime after midnight. Everything has a nice ice coating on top of the 1 inch of snow. We did not get the forecasted 3-6 inches. Foggy right now.

Drew, enjoy the trip south to warmer weather! Take care and do not push it too hard. Post a bunch of pics when you get the chance.

Kyle, I am glad that the fence issue worked out, after all said and done, it will be a benefit to all involved.

SuperRNG, please post pics of your progress on the system. It would be nice to be able to “ follow along “ as you go. You DO have 5000 more posts needed to get to the next level, so ....keep them coming.... you are going to have to step up your game....:D

Eric, keep the humor coming... we always enjoy your posts

DABSGT, glad your trip to Florida was good! Sounds like the racing was successful!:drink:

Bird, just think of the shape you are going to be in by spring! Ready to take on all the yard work!

Ron, Sassy is adorable! How old is she now?

I need to do a grocery store / WallyWorld run this morning, specifically to get ink for the printer.... why does it always run out when you need it the most? Also take back a box of decaf tea bags I purchased by mistake.... wifey only likes the high test .... Then sometime today, get online and submit all my CEU paperwork for my National and State licenses. Both have new programs online to do so, I am hopeful that someone decided to make it easier than previous years.

Everyone have a great day! Prayers for all!
