Good Morning!!!! 49F @ 6:15AM. Rain early...then remaining cloudy with showers in the afternoon. High 52F. Winds ESE at 5 to 10 mph. Chance of rain 100%. Rainfall around a quarter of an inch.
The front just moved in, bringing rain showers and gusts topping 25MPH so far. Might have some tarps to tie down once it gets light enough to see.

Hope you feel better soon, Eric. The zinc lozenges seem to do a good job of minimizing the symptoms and shortening their duration.

That's quite a mouthful, Randy. Might be time for an acronym?:confused2:

It's a good thing I'm not a smoker, and that gasoline evaporates quickly, as I had enough of it on the ground yesterday. I'll spare you the details, but the fuel filter was partially clogged, and once changed, the fuel pressure regulator wasn't regulating, and not enough pressure was being provided to the engine. Today I get to see how much Subaru wants for a new one. I also found that the fuel filter is located AFTER the fuel pump, so there's a pretty good chance that whatever clogged the filter also damaged the old pump. The ex-mechanic had one of his flunkies clean out the fuel tank, so I can add that to the list of jobs that weren't done correctly.

The testing took so much time, I didn't get a bike ride in, but if the new tire still holds air, it'll probably be fine. Looks like we're in for on and off showers through the weekend. Rain for Friday is on again off again, but I'm keeping my fingers crossed it'll be dry for the start of the trip. If not, it won't be the first, nor the last, time I've been out on a motorcycle in the rain.

Tweaked the chili again yesterday morning, adding more ancho chili powder and some kidney beans, and another day of slow cooking really paid off with another wonderful meal. The rest'll go into the freezer today so I'll have something to look forward to in the months ahead.

Hump day already. Humf!

Good morning to all! Low of 12, going up to 36, no precipitation. Tomorrow starts a slight warming trend, reaching 50 by the weekend.
There is now a chance to have a “ white Christmas “. We will have to wait and see.

Today is errand day. Drop max off at the groomer, go to Costco, Office Max, Petsmart, then Wally World. By then, Max should be done and we will pick him up. After all this, I should be wore out.

Time to get moving.... prayers sent

28F here this morning.. seems the each local news is trying to out do the other stations with their forecasts for the next few days.. we are likely to get some snow and cold weather, not sure how much, with the 1, 2 punch coming in off the coast.

Year end review went as expected (not meeting manager's expectations, first time I had that in my 39 years, would have been nice to have those expectations shared before review time), raise and bonus were minimal. Old boss still has no idea of the products I was expected to cover. Good part was I asked about the transition to new job and he was surprised it had not already happened, he has no plans to back fill, although the new manager for that group was waiting for replacement req to be approved (which my old manager would have to approve). Old manager was going to look into it. He expected me to already be in process of transitioning. My wife and I got a good laugh thinking about when the old team finds out they have to absorb my work instead of getting new person to take it on). It will take me awhile to get past the review, but am looking forward to something new.

Glad you made it home safe Jay and wifey, take good care of her so the arm heals up properly.

Drew, we don't eat much packaged food, way too salty like you say. Wife had dinner with her bible study ladies recently at Olive Garden, they had special on where they could get take out for $5 per, she got 4 of them, then a few nights later fried some shrimp up to go with it and we had dinner for the family.

Stay safe, prayers for those in need.

Snowed last night!
But the good news is there is barely enough to 'cover that which the dog did'!
Bad news is the CUT gets no time to play.

Good morning All. 31 this morning at daybreak and all clear. Sunny and a chilly westerly breeze right now. Already did one of the thrice weekly gym visits this morning and brought a bucket full of wood inside. Have a small load of oak rounds to unload after my coffee break and then the rest of the day will be energy conservation mode.

Welcome home Mr and Mrs Jay. I hope the final leg of the trip is uneventful!

Hope everyone else has a good Hump Day !

Frank

Good Morning! It was 29° here, this morning but, it's now sunny and already up to 38°. Forecast says we'll see 59° this afternoon. Our winds finally subsided so, should be a great day to get things done.

I put the bucket back on the LS so, I can clean up at least one of the recent burn piles today. Once completed, the grapple goes back on, to build another burn pile of cedars I've taken down. After the cedars are piled up, I'll drop several dead trees on the top of the pile and eventually burn on a windless day.

Jay ... glad to hear you're nearly home. Good thinking to stay at airport hotel. Black ice ... at night, is not a good idea.

Hawkeye ... your patience, job wise, is surprising and hope it pays off for you.

RNG .. your chili sounds great. I'm going to make a pot of chili, a pot of beef stew, or a pot of chicken noodle soup. Maybe more than one. . I'm thinking ... I can't decide?
Good luck with weather on your trip.

Eric ... hope you get better soon. AS RNG noted .. zinc lozenges.

Don ... pastures were frosty here too. Didn't last long though.

Hoping for an excellent "Hump Day" for everyone.

Prayers for all.

Prayers for all
Be safe
Have a great day

19°F and foggy this morning, going up to 31° today.

The snow event that ambled through the area Sunday might and Monday left adventure in its wake. What was originally supposed to be 1-3" ended up being nearly 8". I left work early Monday - as did everyone else - to get out ahead of any traffic snarls. Only took an extra 1/2 hour to get home, not too bad. However, it took nearly two hours to get my car up the driveway.:( I got about 10 feet in from the road and started spinning. Brought the tractor down and cleaned most of the snow from the rest of the driveway, then shoveled out around the car. Still no love. Wife came out and drove while I pushed, no progress. That was some seriously slickery snow. Ended up finally pushing it up the driveway with the tractor bucket. Left work at 2:30pm, got home a little after 4pm, and finally got it in the garage at 6pm.

Sent the boss a text to let him know I would not be in yesterday.

We got some more snow overnight that re-covered everything The Wife and I cleaned. Where I dug out the food bowls in the chicken coop yesterday morning, it measured 7-3/4". That's a lot of snow for December around here. I re-scraped the upper driveway, cleared the lower (flatter) driveway in case we need to use it, and cleared the neighbors' driveway across the road. I also spread about 20 lbs of ice melt pellets on the questionable spots of the driveway.

The heater in that cab almost turns it into an oven. I had to turn it down to half, as I was starting to sweat and steam up the glass. Definitely glad we got the cab.

Made a big pan of lasagna for The Wife last night. Her birthday was Sunday, and we opted not to venture out for dinner due to the weather. Plan B was my lasagna, which she loves. Happy Wife = Happy Life.

Glad to see Randy is recovering well. The pig-turned-cow jokes are over the top, just as expected.

Good to see wngsprd is recycling his rodents back into the predators' diets. Our skunks seem to have moved on. No evidence of them on the game cams over the last week, and no tracks in the snow around the barn or coop.

Hope your wife is recovering well, Jay.

I had similar. Boss said minimal increase because I was out on disability. It is what it is.

I only have 36 yrs of working.

jbrumberg.
Presently a clear a sunny 30コF. We arrived at Bradly International (Hartford CT/Springfield MA) ~ 1:00AM this morning and checked into the Sheridan Hotel at the airport where we parked our car before we left. Fortunately it is in a parking garage so we do not have to deal with all the accumulated ice around here. We are taking our time getting moving so we can pick up some really decent barbecue takeout for tonight's dinner. We may see some snow squalls on our return home with the approaching cold front and then single digit temperatures for morning low's until the weekend. The NWS has issued black ice advisories. It should be interesting getting home. I really do not know what kind of frozen precipitation has fallen or will be,
.......................................
Welcome back :) enjoy your pillow and bed tonight.

I wasn’t having my best morning so I took a nap, after lunch I’ve been fine. Too cold to do much outside, I’m under orders to do virtually nothing for another week. So we will see.

Mostly, the murmur was caused by the leaking valve. It wasn’t bad until I had the sepsis this spring, it damaged it severely.

Pretty out but cold and windy.
Have a good one. Prayers.

My father in law had same thing back in July or august (when I was in hospital). I don’t know yet which animal he is now. Lol

Hawkeye & Buckeye- I am sorry to read about your reviews. 39 & 36 years with one employer is awesome. I believe quite a few of the other regular posters here have similar employment histories. I wish that I could relate, but I am familiar with "reviews" as yours. It still amazes me how "essential" employees get relatively poor reviews. Social justice warriors usually are “rolling stones” employment-wise , but it can be worth the roll.. Corporate loyalty seems to be one-way nowadays.:(

Hawkeye- If your boss is so out of touch/out of the loop with what is happening and/or doing anything proactive even w/i his own department, he may soon be corporate toast. It may be a corporate food chain thing

Paul- A belated happy birthday to your Wife. I wish her many more in health and happiness. That is some “black ice” I’ve never had it that bad. I have had our vehicles parked in the driveway start sliding downhill overnight when temperatures rose overnight. This has happened more than once.

Randy- I am sorry to read that you started the day poorly; take care.

We got our barbecue and started homeward. The mall where we shop has the supermarket/pharmacy we use the most, a medical supply, and eyewear store. I got prescriptions and food while Wifey got her cast waterproof arm cover (Thanks RNG!!!:D) and her fall related bent up glass frames re-aligned. As we got closer to home the snow associated with the pending cold front started falling. The new snow plus an apparent 4” of fresh snow made our final hill going home a little dicey, but the contracted plow guy plowed and sanded our driveway. All 5 of our hardwired smoke detectors were “a beepin” when we got in. I found 5 never used 9V batteries of unknown age and put them in my shirt pocket and replaced all 5. After getting everything back it appears that one or more may be dead (I need hearing aids badly). I do not like this, but I shut the smoke detector circuit down and will buy some more 9V’s and re-test all the installed batteries. I hope it’s a battery issue and not an issue of aging/dying smoke detectors. The last time I had to replace them I also had to replace the hardwired connectors :(.

It’s nice to be home and tomorrow we bail out Brogen.
