I think we may come and join you all tomorrow, we have been told to expect up to 47C which is about 117F, power outages are almost guaranteed so aircon won't be an option, will spend a day herding horses under trees as they are too stupid to do it themselves.

I am pushing a bit on job transition, old team is NOT liking the NO backfill comment, but did get agreement that come Jan 2, we start moving work over. Good news for them, if I wasn't doing the job to the expectations of management, then they don't need to do what I was doing, they need to figure out what management wants them to do since they are the managers and we are the workers.

I am considering making a stink after the new year and trying to get completely out of this group so the management stink does not follow me.

Just got back from "kindergarten concert" that didn't happen. Kindergarten did not have a Christmas concert at our grand daughter's school. Our daughter erroneously saw and announcement for another school (similar name).. interesting that the grand daughter has been practicing her songs for a couple weeks at school, all good, just no concert.. the office was very confused by our ask, "Where is the kindergarten concert?".. I bet they laugh about it for until they go on break..

Just to cheer me up, wife wanted me buy a bang bang... with new laws, it will be at least a couple weeks before I can pick it up though. I had to sign document saying I was eligible to purchase a semi automatic assault rifle or semiautomic handgun.. Too bad no one has any assault rifles for sale.

18 now heading for 2, block heater plugged in on truck and tractor.

39 and raining...snow about 10 miles west. Should only go up to 41.

Frank, beautiful dogs!

LS, smart work on canopy.

Roasted coffee yesterday until the wind died down enough to go out and change the oil in my wife's SUV. The last change was at the dealer (the last free one) and they sure put the filter canister on tight. I was making such straining and groaning sounds my wife came over to rescue me from some imagined catastrophe. Even though the local weatherman said rain would be to the north today, glad I didn't wait until this morning to re-tarp my firewood and bring in a load to the porch.

Went on skunk patrol this morning, but only saw a raccoon.

Don, thanks for sharing that animation. Amazing. I wondered if the hook was gonna caught on something.

Got home tonight and saw a skunk in bottom portion of front yard....Got Remington 1100, 2 shells, fired up old Gator, drove all over and finally found it. Kablooey. I wonder if it was rabid. It was walking erratically.

trivial to mild aortic insufficiency

that sounds pretty good to me, if I'm reading it right... Slow and steady Randy.

I have two rv campgrounds to call today who promised me email confirmations and they never showed up.
Made a lot of reservations yesterday, got the Florida trip booked up to Fort Meyers and will do the return from there
when I get to first friend's home in Delray Beach. And a lot of them charge for one night stay right away.

25F here this morning. Drew, you might want to extend your stay in Florida until Texas warms up.....(Last week we had 2 days over 80F)

Mostly, glad wifey is better.

L4n, canopy looks good.

Ron, nice pics.

Will have to catch up on the rest later.

Prayers for our team.

Good evening all. 29F for the start, clear sky, calm wind. Wind stayed light, some clouds appeared, and high temp was 58F. Men's Meeting to start, then bike ride, trip to Sherman, and walk the dog. Later trip to stepdaughter's house to help her unload her car. No nap :(

Our dollar against the American dollar is worth 68 cents.

wow, wasn't aware it was that far apart, thought around ten percent.
From what I've seen most of the stuff (hot tubs, rv's) built in Canada are very high quality.
But if you don't make it there, add expensive transportation in plus this almost one third cost disadvantage, makes
for expensive cost of living. Hopefully offset by lower taxes, lower utility costs.
Am guessing the less expensive Chinese goods coming in from the West Coast would be very appealing at least on price.

sun is coming out, time to get moving, in the sixties. Have to take trailer to friend's home at river and bring my CCLT2 riding mower back for winter.
Takes me quite a while to get all the sand out of the deck bearings, plus blade is shot in one year. As in worn half off.
Then rain comes in this afternoon.

$1 Canadian = $.76 US right now.

4 degrees right now...high in the low teens today...

Good morning,
temp is -18°F and going to a high of 3. Wind NW 5 mph. 30% chance of flurries.

I've got a dump run and town to do this afternoon. Nothing after that.

daugen; what cheap energy co$t$ were you talking about? regular gas = $1.229/L = $4.65/US gallon.
diesel fuel $1.329/L = $5.05/US gallon, home heating oil, I paid $1.20/L = $4.54/US gallon on my last fill up.
Electricity or hydro as we call it is a 3 tier affair. from 7 AM to 11 AM = $0.208 cents/kwh, from 11 AM to 5 PM $0.144/kwh and from 7 PM to 7 AM $0.101/kwh, statutory holidays are at the cheapest rate of $0.144/kwh.
Those prices are what I pay for living in the boonies, if I was to live in the big smoke (Toronto) my gas prices would be lower and I would have gone nutz years ago. The only bonuses are that I live on a poorly maintained gravel road (the snow plow comes down the road sometimes), on 5 acres and only pay out $1,000.oo/year land taxes. I cannot see my neighbours, I can hear them from time to time. I have everything from Moose down to rabbits wander through my property at night.
No daugen, the grass is NOT greener on the other side of the road, at least not on this side.

Have a good day all

Good morning all. I am feeling a little apprehensive, in a couple of hours I go to collect my hearing aids. Never had them before and told they will take a few weeks to adjust to. Think I should set my expectations accordingly, maybe for this first day I should be content with just finding out how to turn them on and off.

Bunyip, I saw the temperature record for Australia was broken yet again, can't imagine how you cope with temperatures so high. Do you get much relief when it goes dark ?

   / Good morning!!!! #103,793
Good morning all.
cold sunny day, 24 going up to 42, likely I'll continue to work on organizing my stored stuff, need to decide whether to go find a shredder place or do it myself. I lubed my shredder just like suggested, used the oil and spread it over the sheet, and yup noise pitch increased and motor ran faster.

I bet Unfriendly Politics will be going nuts today

cleaning ladies coming shortly, boss plus six helpers makes this complicated for Christmas. They each got a little cash, three bars of different chocolate and
a bar of girly smelly soap, you know the lavender stuff none of us would use...I think.

Lights on barn wreath went off last night. That's a good job for when the temps get over 40. Aluminum ladder rungs mighty cold in winter...

Weather starts to gradually warm back up starting tomorrow, then gradually increases to a peak on Christmas Day to 64.
Some of you are very cold, and poor Bunyip is frying eggs on the pavement.
Roy don't slip in the snow.

   / Good morning!!!! #103,794
20 high of 42 still very cold this morning breezy until about noon

Prayers for all in need

Good morning, 7 now, 28 later. Wood burner feels good this morning!

Next to last day for the year at work today. Nice break until January.

I saw the temps in Oz......that is brutal....

Everyone have a safe and good day.

So Canada is expensive no matter what...
I've driven to Toronto, not Quebec and not further West.
That will be a future rv trip I hope. The Northern route during the summer.

Bill, my total all in taxes on the farm are under 2k. It's why the schools are poor here.
It's one thing if you pay more and actually get something for it. In retirement living off savings one of my priorities was low
cost of living, to leave more for fun things. I used to pay four times that in a row house in a development.
And the schools were like colleges.

I've never had kids but I know schools are the core of an intelligent society, one that hopefully makes informed choices.
Sometimes it looks like we need to live way "out there" in order to get some peace and quiet anymore.

Don has gone from a rural farm to a planned city. And seems to be thriving.
It's simply the concentration of people near you when you go home at night, I think we all have a comfort level there.
Like the lifelong brownstone residents of the Bronx. Not sure I could do the Bronx...;)

   / Good morning!!!! #103,797
No coffee this morning. 13ー with cloudy skies this morning. Heading to 33ー with mostly sunny skies. Found a good deal on a better lens for my camera. So I drove down to Ann Arbor to pick it up. Then came back to conserve energy. My weather station shows temperature got to 3ー about 10 pm last night. Glad the clouds moved in an warmed it up a little.
Annual Wellness Checkup with Dr this morning. Then back home for my allotted coffee. No other plans for the day.

PJ, belated HAPPY BIRTHDAY for Mrs PJ.

Bunyip, 117ー F is way to hot. Stay hydrated and cool as possible.

Drew, be careful fixing the wreath lights.

Kyle, I am sure some of us to hire you to get rid of the skunks if you need a side job.

Looking, I remember friends in Canada complain about income taxes that are collected before you even get to pay those high amounts for everything.

Hawkeye, hope the transition starts to go smoothly.

Jay, get a good nights sleep.

Thomas, moving trail Cams?

Prayers and best wishes to all.

Good Morning All.
