Good morning!!!!

Good morning all. The sun is shining and forecasters are still confident there will be no rain until the weekend.

Enjoyed all the shared photos lots of projects going on.

I always enjoy seeing what others have been up to too. There are always things going on here that are interesting, even if I have no need to do the same, such as RNG's fire sprinklers and with others you can never know how they will turn out, like Davids underground tunnelling adventures. We get to admire Checks cladding, frown on Don cheating at woodwork by using a laser (only kidding Don!) and lots of other things, something different almost every day

My project to get the house passed by building control is getting closer to completion. This last section is not as old as the rest of the house. We think it was built just over a hundred years ago to house a static engine, but hadn't been given much TLC for many years. This is how it looked when we first bought the place.

A skilled bricklayer rebuilt the far corner for me and I got the worst of the wall at ground level sorted a few years ago. With a new roof on it didn't look too bad so I left it while last. All the bricks are machine made and many have been laid with vertical joints less than 1/4 inch wide, with mortar missing going right back, so this will take me a few days. I need to get back to it now or the mortar won't have firmed enough to strike off before nightfall.

Coffee has finished brewing. 55° with clear skies this morning. Heading to 79° with lots of sun. Lawn is mowed. Buyer picked up car yesterday. Dr. appointment this morning. Then help neighbor straighten up his tree house that is on 4x4's. Was going to be a tractor project. But the problem is one side has sunk into ground. Going to use hydraulic jacks to raise backup and install more support post.

David, trying to figure where the new concrete is going. Under the porch?

Eric, looks like a tedious job.

Buppies, hope you get sugar level correct and cancer removal goes well. Prayers sent.

Buckeye, good progress.

Prayers for all.

Good Morning All.

Good morning! Summer is still hanging on in Texas. 72˚F before sunrise and heading to the mid 90s, We do have a chance of rain this afternoon - yeah!

We are starting the process now of constructing a water crossing to connect two older trails. The trail we did last Winter to an older trail. It is a large crossing over Berry Creek The major creek that runs through the subdivision, that triples in size when it floods. We have to keep in a budget of $25,000.
Buckeye its at the end of Stetson Trail where the fence line hits Berry Creek perpendicular.

On the other end of the subdivision the Trail Development Team (a sub group of the Hiking Club) for the new section will begin. They had the land for a golf course but after surveys most people preferred walking trails instead of adding a 4th golf course.
We will have several more smaller waterways to cross and I will have to get some pics as the crossings are being constructed.
Buckeye if you can find County Road 245 in Georgetown and Rocky hollow creek Dr. and follow the creek past the new construction area an then to to Cool Springs Dr. That will be the area of the new trail. There will also be a connecting trail from Ronald Regan Blvd.

Yesterday I loaded my truck with 18 - 8' 4X4s from Home Depot for the trail signs.

Eric if you put a before pic of the roof we need an after pic of the new roof. Oh, you are right laser is cheating.:D

Good Morning!!!! 52F @ 5:00AM. Plentiful sunshine. High 78F. Winds WNW at 5 to 10 mph.

Started the day by heating a pair of cylinders off the red bike in the kitchen oven in order to remove a pair of studs from each of them, and now the house stinks of hot oil and leather. I haven't "enjoyed" that smell since a few years ago when I mistakenly left a glove on top of the wood stove after it was lit. Fortunately, there's no one around to complain about it but me, and the weather should be warm enough in a bit to open the windows and air it out some.

Also worked out a way to vent the crankcase without running it into the intake manifolds where the blow by oil makes a mess inside the combustion chambers. I'll be making another order to McMaster-Carr for the tubing to pull it off.

Was listening to a new Yes album on the back porch yesterday evening, wondering if the dark, puffy clouds that had been hanging overhead all day were ever going to drop some rain, when I heard rumbles to the west. Radar on the iPhone showed a storm cell gathering, and half an hour later the temps dropped by ten degrees, the wind gusted to 30 MPH, and in ten minutes we picked up 0.40" of rain. Finally enough to dampen the ground so I can wheel roll the trenches that were filled in last month, so I'll take care of that first thing this morning. And that looks like the end of the rain for at least another ten days, but the coming fortnight looks like it'll only have a pair of days in the 90s, with the rest in the 70s and 80s.

Finished up the day screening "Bob Dylan: Don't Look Back", an interesting compilation of black'n'white film shot during 1965 as his music was transitioning from acoustic to electric and he was gaining popularity in the US. Lots of performance scenes, including an accompanying film of out takes almost as long as the main feature. Also lots of back stage stuff, and shots of the crowds outside of the venues, as well as interactions with fans, managers, promoters, and the press. I was impressed that Dylan's conversational style was as complicated and intense as his lyrics in those days, and amused at the reactions of the people around him. Joan Baez and Donovan also feature in the films, adding another wrinkle to what was happening at the time. A good movie for Dylan fans, maybe not so much if you're not.

Glad to hear of the healing progress out there, but not Buppie's new diagnosis. Hope they get it all before there's nothing left to chop off, Bupps!

Were you consulted on the bridge designs, Don?

What do you use to clean up the brick face after you're done re-pointing, Eric? And thanks for the reminder that I still need to research and purchase an internet capable controller for the home sprinkler system.

The tarp for the fire truck is due in today; only a day too late.:confused2:

Hang in there, gang, Friday's comin'!:dance1:

63°F and clear skies this morning, going up to 91° today. One more day of hot and humid tomorrow, then weekend storms push it out in favor of more mild days. Some days next week may not make it out of the 70s. I'll be OK with that.

The electrician was retired from the Air Force, and working for them as a civilian contractor at nearby Scott AFB, David. He did very well for himself, and he should have, as he was very good at what he did.

Good luck with the brickwork, Eric.

I haven't heard that new Yes album yet, RNG. Can't believe it's been 40 years since their first album. Along with Rush, one of my two favorite bands.

Check, must be nice to have your house not only look good, but smell good too!

Don, has the IRS shown up yet to check on all your gambling winnings? Fleecing those little old widows. tsk tsk tsk
If you are working on something in the wood shop, pictures please.

Did not know that magnolias produced red seed pods, wonder if birds eat them.
Those pods get to the size of baseballs and a few times
I've whacked my head on them mowing and they felt like baseballs too.

I've been working for last couple hours on putting pots/pans/necessities in rv. Details on other tr

Picked a bunch of okra last night, let's see
today it will be the dermatologist's office that gets some, the podiatrist, primary doc and dentist's offices have all gotten plenty.
Yesterday I got that little crooked finger c'mon from the nurse, pulled me in out of a crowded waiting room, I hadn't been sitting two minutes, and
gushed about how she loved the okra. Well....and sit right down and we'll get going on you.
Life is good.
