Wng, I am fascinated by your Chemex, it looks so simple and elegant. I know next to nothing about coffee, is it really as easy as copying what this lady does ? Brandende Vragen: Chemex - YouTube

(I don't understand her language, but I know you always like to hear something new, so what better way to start the week than learning a little Dutch - "Ketel", "Kop", err "Timer" )

Ron, are you on your second "Kop" of "Koffie" ? :)

It looks a little more complicated in Dutch, and sitting at a table with all those items, but basically how it's done. Weigh the coffee beans, grind, weigh the water as its poured and let the coffee bloom for 30 seconds before continuing the pour. You'd be proud of me...all my roasting and coffee brewing uses Celsius and grams as the scale.

Koffie en fris van smaak!

Everyone is up early, or is it late?

I remember mowing in my woods once and a big owl sat in a tree above me. Scared the crap out of me when i saw it. Guess it was hoping id stir up some food.

Yesterday i went out on the side porch with my walker and sat on the swing. Supposed to do that today in PT, so thought id practice first. Didnt stay out long, it was hot, no air moving, and stink bugs were attacking.

Son got home from the Delaware beach. I used to go there when i was his age. Told my wife we should go for a few days.. If only i could.

61°

Saw some cute pics of the neighbors at the county fair with their grandkids.

Yep, up early. Coco heard the coon outside at 4am and let me know about it. Found 2 stinkbugs on the porch yesterday...a slightly different color than last year's batch.

64 and humid last I looked...going to 90.

Don, great owl story. Always seems strange when the roles are reversed between cat and bird. Glad Gray2 scared it away :).

Roy and Thomas, too early to be in the 40s!

Went to visit my wife's folks yesterday, then took her to Tex-Mex and a couple of stores to shop for them. They aren't doing too well. She's been staying with them the last few days.

Such temps puts little spring in the old step and one gets more done, only problem less day light.
Good thoughts for your wife's folks.

Need to pour first cup of coffee. 64° with partly cloudy skies this morning. Heading to 77° with clearing skies in afternoon. Got a bunch of little things done yesterday. Still no seat time. Need to take sold car in to get a slow leak in one of the tires repaired. Then back to to-do list that has not been worked on for over a month.

Don, glad the Owl attack failed.

Thomas, forecast temperatures here of 40° will give frost on the grass. I am not ready for it yet.

Prayers for all.

Good Morning All.

good morning all. Warm and sticky 72 going to about 90 today in sun.
Headed out at 8am I hope to take motorhome down to tire shop, then rest of the day will likely be mowing lawn.

I admit some of those okra are picked a bit large, though I threw about a dozen out. One of the kinds is shaped like a beer barrel so it
naturally gets chubby, but smaller is usually better with okra. I figured on three sizes, small, medium, large, small being the ones you pickle,
medium being normal okra, and large being the stuff you cook forever in a pot.

Good evening all. 72F this morning, partly cloudy, calm wind. Light wind day, sky cleared off to a few high clouds and hi temp was 96F HI 99. Bike ride this morning, after lunch a 2 hour nap to recover from this morning's ride. One of the stepdaughter's friends organized a surprise birthday party, good time was had by all.
Who's birthday?
If yours, Happy birthday!
If your stepdaughter's same for her.

Well, Thomas, looks like the disturbance overnight was not a coon, but our version of Boo Boo...found three destroyed bird feeders and bent over steel hooks. Have not had a bear in the yard (that I know of) since late June.

Time to bring in the bird feed cans from the porch and the feeders at night.

Happy Birthday to the Mostly clan!

I'm not even going to tell my wife about okra chocolate shakes....She'll start wondering what other crazy stuff we are up to.

When I stopped at the DQ, .... I asked if they offered, had ever offered, or have ever considered offering an Okra Shake?

As far as I know .... they're still rolling on the floor laughing at me.

I may have to wear a disguise ...... to go there in the future?

Good morning! 72˚F heading to the mid 90s, lots of sun.
Eric I can't remember the last day I did not see the sun.
Kyle, Gray2 is not on a leash. He is good at staying in the yard or neighbors yard and always comes back or comes when we call him. The neighbors don't mind and say Gray2 is the best cat they ever had, shows affection and they don't have to feed, vaccinate, or clean up after him. I noticed yesterday afternoon he was staying under chairs and tables after the morning's air raid.

I have drip irrigation in the garden, the tubes have a hole every 8" and every 8" there is a spot of kale coming up. I need to water the spaces in-between this morning so the rest will come up. While at the Garden I need to steal some seat time also.
Cards tonight I keep moving around the top 10 after each Monday, currently in 5th place, but will change after tonight. only three more Mondays then it's the end of the quarter already.

These go under the title of "The joys of living is a Retirement Community":

1. There is a street of widows here in the neighborhood that has a system of taking care of each other. At night they all turn on their porch light and at sunrise they all turn them off. If a porch light is noticed that is not in sync the neighbors get a call. That way is someone falls or dies they will be noticed within 12 hours.

2. While playing cards, in the middle of the game, don't be surprised if you partner ask which cards are wild again. (the wild cards never change - 2s and jokers)

3. I noticed my neighbors car door was open, when I took Whipper for a walk yesterday evening, I saw groceries inside so I thought they would probably be right back out. This morning the car door is still open and the groceries are still inside, I need to check-up on my neighbor. This is scary.

Poured first cu of coffee. A frigid 41 out there right now, but going up to 70. No rain, so back to work on the garage siding. All that is left is the gable ends, but they will involve a lot of cutting, with each angled cut being about 20” long. Helper coming in a couple of hours. Had in-laws this weekend, but spent a lot of time prepping with the strapping.

Looking good, at least each piece you put up will be shorter than the previous board.

(Still hoping the neighbors come outside looking for the rest of their groceries, I'm such a chicken.)

Update
The neighbor has been seen walking in the garage! Yeah!
(Car door is still open - oh no moment still pending)

75 going to upper 80’s today, got nice surprise shower yesterday, just as we came out of Sams club with a load of stuff. New adjustable bed did well. I’ll have to fine tune as I go. I got a meatloaf ready for the oven, only to find out that is for Wednesday. Oh well, at least it’s ready.
We have several owls around including a great horned owl. He swooped over the roof one evening, just at dusk, while I was on the deck, I thought a small plane was crashing in my back yard, that dude is large! We came up missing two kittens overnight, about a month ago, I suspect owls got them, or a fox.
Prayers for the whole gang today.

Good Morning Everyone!!!!

Mostly sunny 50ºF for today’s low temp; 63ºF with mixed sun and clouds presently; and I anticipate today’s high temperature to reach ~70ºF with increasing sunshine. I had my “last meal”; starting at 2PM the “fun” begins.:(

Drew- A nice load of picked produce. Thanks for sharing.

“… I have trouble thinking "around" the box into the realms of someone who's mind is a starcluster of thoughts.”- Kyle I never heard/read anyone describing thoughts as you; but it really applies with a powerful and accurate “visual.” Thanks for this gift. In a way it applies to all of us. We buy all our seafood frozen (except lobsters). Really fresh seafood is hard to find on this side of MA. With scallops we only buy those w/o sodium tripolyphosphate, a preservative that retains freshness and water; but has a “soapy” taste. I sautéed them last night; it took ~ 4 minutes in a really hot oil/butter mix. I have read about those fake scallops made from rays. It could be true.

Barred owls and Great Horned owls are known to eat cats; skunks are one of their food sources. Don- I am glad your cat is ok. I hope your neighbor is OK. I would call the police and request a safety check on your neighbor.

Bruce- I am happy your Wife weathered her Prednisone experience w/o serious incident(s). I had that :censored: O2 tank bungied(sp?) to my tractor ROPS during use as well as the fuel tank for my 4HP auxiliary outboard on my sailboat when sailing. I was on O2 for ~ 1 year. The docs told me I would be on Prednisone for the rest of my life; fortunately for me they were wrong.

Billy- I am sorry to read about your feeder damage. I am amazed just how easily they bend those metal feeder poles getting to the feeders.

Check- Nice job.

Thomas- The leaves are starting change color and some trees are already started dropping leaves around here as well. Fall is definitely in the air:cool:

My + thoughts and prayers for all.
