Can't believe I spent the afternoon mowing when I should have been napping.

BEF, I admire your spirit. Hope you are being careful, though.

Well, back to the Orioles game (finally playing a team they can beat - Detroit. - sorry, Ron).

My tractor hasn稚 been started since mid July. Driveway needs spraying, as well as all the borders around the property. It痴 making me nuts!

Spent the whole day NOT mowing, nor napping. Best laid plans.

George, my concrete guy showed up about 10 minutes early. Talk story, look at job, discuss options. Got an update on job I had recommended and just finished, says phase 2 looking like 126 cyds, mentioned another sizeable slab, but says he is still waiting for the call, so Im thinking this could be like last project - talked in Oct, poured in Jan. Imagine my surprise when I asked when and he said Monday morning. Guess I looked shocked too. Said as I was only 6 cyds, small quick job. So told him I’d be ready. That meant removing some volunteer trees.
Some podacarpus been growing since 2005.

Wife volunteered to help. Seat time of course
IMG_0771.JPG

Only took a couple hours with my reciprocating saw and excellent help
IMG_0794.JPG

And a rope pulled by tractor to guide.
IMG_0803.JPG

Now its stumps and NO backhoe.
IMG_0772.JPG

Between bucket and ripper, able to get all but the big one. Can move it abit but can’t get any traction, spinning all four tires and making a mess.

George will get it with his TLB. Interesting thing about George, he isn’t out to spend a clients money. Any task I can do that he doesn’t have to charge for is good by him. Of course, he couldn’t believe I sold my backhoe, and yes, I missed it today.

So, this was my day instead of brushhogging. Still might get a nap.

Morning all! 56 here going to 72. Right now damp and 100 humidity. Partly cloudy later on. Has been a busy week with work and side projects.
Cleaned up the mess from having a 60ish foot tree taken down.(Logger was impressed with how fast me and the tractor worked).
Changed a toilet at one of my sisters house and removed a bunch of kitchen cabinets to open up the view and let more light in.
Filled in the hole I dug to get the septic system pumped out and cleaned.
My body let me know that 61 is no longer as fast at recovery then it was at 20. Was totally shot by 6:00 pm and just headed to bed.LOL.
Wrist are sore this morning but that is normal for me. Today is rest day. Maybe a nap.
Hope everyone is healthy or improving!

Eric. I was at Lowe痴 yesterday and they had little bundles of white birch fire wood. Advertised as European Split. So my question is how do you guys split wood that痴 different?

That's a long way to transport firewood. There is a good book written by Lars Mytting called "Norwegian Wood" that is mostly about birch firewood Norwegian Wood: Chopping, Stacking, and Drying Wood the Scandinavian Way by Lars Mytting

A company in this country bought some machinery from mainland Europe for making fire lighters. They come as little coils, with each sliver of wood coated in a thin film of wax. I was given a sample packet last year. If I didn't have a good supply of newspaper and alder and ash twigs, I would definitely buy some as they are the best firelighters I have ever tried.
