Good morning!!!!

   / Good morning!!!! #198,201
The source of my two four year degrees was a senior fall semester roommate says I’m trying to steal his girl same thing happened to him in high school. By December enough took transcript to Roanoke College they accepted me so I went most all credits transferred but still two more years did it in year and half went to summer school. My first semester the girl he was dating knew my parents really well hung out where I was until one Friday night I asked her to dinner now 47 years of marriage close to 48 now. Roommate of three years still doesn’t speak to me

Good Evening

Good evening all. 54ºF for the start, scattered clouds, light breeze. Light wind, scattered clouds, and high temp was 78ºF. Coffee to start day, was ready to leave for ride on time, first climb rear derailleur shifter bolt broke and that was it for the day. Driver loaned me his truck in case I found a bike shop, but he couldn't extract the broken bolt. Very disappointing :(

Good Afternoon,
Buppies, hoping for a good night sleep for you my friend !🙏

Kyle, I did well in the trades, but by 2007 I had not broken the 100K mark ! I made more money than Kathleen when she was a manager at her hospital! I came very close to breaking that 100K in 2006/07, that was darn good money almost 20 years ago ! But then she was promoted to director level in nursing and eventually to VP ! By that time she was closing in on 250K per year so she kind of left me in the dust in the money department! 😉😀

That’s my story, I have no regrets of being in the trades, I always loved working with my hands ! Still do !

Hope all have a beautiful Saturday! 🙏
Thanks for sharing! I still don't make anywhere near half that type of money.... But God has given me a beautiful wife and family, a roof over my head, plenty of food to eat, and I live in a great place in a great country. I guess he just didn't plan on me being rich....monetarily.

In our engineering program, starting with the sophomore year, the students get manual machine class, metrology, welding stick and mig, stamping and spot welding, all in 1 class. They later get fluids and thermo dynamics, statics, Quality analysis, metallic materials, non metallic materials, PLC programming, a class on all kinds of pumps, hydraulics, pneumatics, CNC machining, plasma and waterjet cutting....and much more. Their hands on experience gets them some pretty good jobs at some big name companies.

Their freshman calculus involves python programming too for some reason...

It's late, I figure I'd beat you guys to today while I'm up. Except for Wagtail. :)

Coffee is brewing. 36° with clear skies this morning. Heading to 74° with sunny skies. Did get to spend time trimming property line trees. Did give Mule a bath with Pressure Washer. Did a few other yard cleanups. Should get at trimming again today. Then watch some NASCAR in afternoon.

Prayers and best wishes for everyone.

Good Morning All.

About 40 heading to 76. Hoot owl outside the window thinks it's cold.

Yeah, Kyle, get some sleep! Good story on your school.

LS, hope you and your wife are feeling better today.

Nice pix, BEF. Drought hurt the mountain colors this year.

Made a Goodwill run, and stopped to pick up diesel and then a new Mexican place for lunch. Rode by the local berry/pumpkin farm on the way...jam packed, and we thought it was about to close up looking at it this summer.

good morning all from Moundville Alabama, where the heat is on and it's 41 outside.
easy trip this morning up to Chattanooga to the Racoon Mountain campground.
surprised at how much train noise there was here, turns out a major freight line goes alongside this park. Could feel vibration from trains as well as constant horn blowing.

my brother went over and started my car, key would not work, went to Volvo dealer and they changed battery and told him what to do, car thought it was being robbed and set off the alarm. Sorry brother... He also turned up heat in my house.
and while he was there....my crazy neighbor came over, and asked
are you friends of Drew?
yeah, I'm his brother.
please tell him I just got out of three weeks of psych care and am not drinking and am terribly sorry for what I did. Ok, that's a start. Loose cannon for sure. At least I won't get shot when I get home.

I'm ready to get home to my own bed and a world that doesn't move.
Stops in Blountville TN, then Salem VA and then Winchester Va, and then home on Thursday. Slight possibility Buppies may be able to come see me Tuesday afternoon but it's a longer drive for him and he may be out on a job.

I timed all my meds well except have now run out of arthritis meds for last four days.
bet I'm sore by time I get home

time to put jeans back on, I think the shorts are done for the year.

John Deere is spending a lot of money on advertising to counter the negative push back they got from sending work to Mexico. $2 billion in new US factories in last five years.
their ad was popping up here.

I think we have a special relationship with Mexico, reinforced by my driving through a lot of what used to be their land.
My Audi Q5 was built in Mexico, very high fit/finish/build quality, likely due to automation, so are a bunch of top name vehicles.
of course if products made in Mexico are used as a political football, they
face other issues.
I think it also helps the security of the US to have a strong manufacturing base South of us. Say in case something very bad happens here, like Yellowstone going off.

one thing I realized driving back and forth this country was that a huge amount of our land is not being used for much of anything. Not even cows.
perhaps much of this is out West and on a huge reservation, we have a LOT of reservations in this country. One could say it was the least we could do.

yet I remain saddened by the proliferation of Native American based gambling resorts.
We have a lot of them too.

we have plenty of available land and one thing was abundantly clear driving the Rockies, we will never run out of rock to build stuff with. Those mountain ranges
naturally are made of it. But the rock formations are endless, simply endless.
We got rock.

and we've got salt. I drove over a bunch of that at Great Salt Lake.
reminds me I should hose down bottom of rv when I get home.
Then a big can of waxy spray oil on whatever I can get to.
Without being up on a lift, hard to do

doesn't get light for another 45 minutes, plus it's cold out there, no rush this morning

Good Morning,
Vt, 40 to start going to 64 or so, uncannily warm for this time of year up here !

We went out to dinner with some friends last night, nice time ! Today Kathleen is going to roast a Turkey and have that same couple over along with some friends of ours that live up the road !

Looks to be another super day as far as the weather goes ! Hope to get a little shop time in this afternoon but I also want to take the bush hog off of the tractor and give it a grease job.

Hope all have a blessed and safe day on this Sunday ! 🙏

Good morning! 52˚F with an East wind and cloudless sky.
The tractor trailer rides had a few hiccups at the adventure farm yesterday. The trailer wheel on the Kubota had a to be changes out and the New Holland tractor had a locked up wheel and was put out of service. But the service/breakdowns only inconvenienced riders for a while and we were back up with a farm pickup pulling the New Holland's trailer.
A hay bale pic for hey dude.

Good Morning
36°, clear sky and a high in the low 70’s for today.

Yesterday I took all my 20lb propane tanks to get filled, I pumped just under 30 gallons into 7 tanks. That should last me a year or so. Kept the sprinklers going, and moved them around throughout the day, and lo and behold, there is grass popping up. Youngest son came up and was working on the basement. He has removed all the carpeting and is installing a Pergo type flooring. I taught him how to cope baseboard inside corners, amongst other things. Now that I have a fireplace I figured I’d need to be able to split wood, there was room in the equipment shed, and TSC was having a sale.

IMG_5541.jpg

Wife said the farmers market was really crowded, possibly a pickpocket on the prowl, she had several people that couldn’t find their wallets. But she had record sales.

We went down to oldest son’s and sat around the fire pit and had a nice hangout with them, grandson kept us amused as well. Afterwards, just like in Sun City, we drove the golf cart home.
Never did get the little plane out, maybe today. But first I want to connect the AV receivers and test out the built in speakers in the old folks home. Not a lot else planned, but I have a huge amount of clean up and organization to do. To say that I’m challenged for a usable horizontal surface would be an understatement.

Good morning, the low temp is 51 and going to a high of 66°F. Wind SSW 8 mph. 40% chance of showers. Mostly cloudy.

There is nothing on the books for today. I didn't put the new hooks on the chain yesterday and not likely I will do them today either.

When I was teaching, I told all of my trainees the same thing. IF you WANT to learn this I am more than willing to teach you. You MUST do as I say when I say it. Otherwise you are just wasting my time and I WILL NOT bother to teach you. It worked, everybody I taught went on to become good truck drivers. One stipulation was that they had to be comfortable with the size of the vehicle, first.
Taught one guy that had failed the test 4 times, but the examiner wouldn't tell him why. I knew why in the first 3 minutes of him driving. He rode the clutch. I told him that if I caught him riding my (it was my truck I was teaching him on) clutch that I would punch him in the side of his head. He never rode the clutch again and he passed his test on the next try. He also couldn't downshift. I taught him how to do that, too. 10, 13 and 18 speed transmissions are easy. 5X4, 5X3 and 6X4 trannies are harder but none of them are rocket science.

Buppies, I have found in the past that if I deny doing something I have been accused of, if I go out and justify the accusation I feel a lot better about it.

Back down the rabbit hole.

Have a safe day all

Thomas 3:30AM more yard work today grass mowed leaf blowing till ran out of gas go get wife at neighbors house where she had run off too while I mowed grass one mile away.

Work on more leaf blowing today not sure what else.

Prayers for all silent out spoken our Country Appalachia Florida others in need.

The story I told about college the roommate became head of state air pollution control board tried to harass me when I worked in steel fabrication. Three inspections in a row normally once every two years. The last time he came I asked why and he lied so asked who his boss was. When it was him told this inspector if he ever came back I would whip his bosses butt. Worked too never saw him again. So I guess I sort f did what you said L4N.

Good Morning

quite a surprise when I tried to leave campground this morning, the gate was locked with a chain and padlock. Apparently not to open until 8:30am. I understand for incoming but this is unheard of for outgoing. so I pulled out the laptop to kill time

Morning all, 49 going up to 77 and sunny, dry.

Got some of the Halloween decorations up and did some watering.
Then took the dog for a walk.

Used my crappy Kobalt drill set to place stakes since the ground is do dry.
Like all the rest of the bits in this set, broke for no reason.

Wow Mostly, sorry to hear about the bolt, not something spares would have helped.

Drew - good trip when home issues resolve during time away! Happy mounds now.

Paul/Popgadget - you will love having the splitter, that one looks pretty handy. Mine cut the splitting time from weeks to days to get my cord + firepit wood split. Have plenty of Ash wood rounds if you want some to practice on.

I worked on high voltage power supplies when I was in college for one of my summer jobs. Did mostly trouble shoot, fix, test. 1KV to 100KV or so. Low current.
On Fridays we would all go out to lunch, even after one beer/drink all of us would only work the lower voltage supplies, would still here a crack and someone cursing every so often.

Be well,

Why I won't buy anything Kobalt labeled, and use this drill set for garbage jobs only

One of the areas along the shared drive. Solar lights and battery for some of the devices.
Still have more areas to work on, we also have signs and trees decorated already along the whole drive up.

good morning, 38 this morning going to 72 and nice clear sunny day

Son called wife from jail. She was glad to hear from him but worried about his prospects after release. His delusions are still live and well.

Today is time to turn the screws on the jack posts half a turn. Found a piece of pipe to use as an extension to get more leverage
