My BMW was (still is) so quiet that most couldn't hear it running when we were waiting at a stop light.

A friend I used to ride with many years ago had a Fatboy. We swapped one day for about an hour or so. When we switched back, I had the same sensation at the first stop light; I had to look at the tach on my R100RT to make sure it was still running.

Yes and we're fortunate to have such a loyal creature in our family. I phoned the woman after Ginger was diagnosed. She denied her dogs were sick. I asked her if she knew how Parvo was transmitted. It was futile and you're right. It is likely few if any of those pups survived.

The ROT was mostly a noisy, straight pipe bunch who often misbehaved during the nighttime hours and rode their H-D V Rods with rear tires smoking up and down the streets of Austin. I enjoyed the restaurants mostly and was amazed at how a H-D could convert gasoline into so much noise with such a severe lack of performance. Of course, I demanded my H-D friends ride behind me (noise abatement) when we travelled from Houston to the event. My BMW was (still is) so quiet that most couldn't hear it running when we were waiting at a stop light.

You don't have to tell me. I've always considered the term "racing Harleys" an oxymoron.

Drew, you're a busy guy.

Bups, glad to hear it.

Lou, safe travels and thank your son for his service.

Shhhh, don't try to convince the HD crowd of the error of their ways. Let 'em be happy deafening each other at their bohemian rallies, leaving the rest of the back roads and wild places to folks like us.:confused2::laughing:

Is it the kind of wax you apply, wait a bit for it to haze up, then wipe off, Don? If so, hot temps, or more specifically, hot surfaces, make that kind dry too quickly and it becomes difficult to remove. If it were me, I'd try some in an out of the way spot and if it works OK, do the rest. Otherwise, you could always wait 'till next winter...

Yes it was that kind of wax, rub on, rub off.
I got an early start and was racing the sun. The sun won. But not by much. With the help of house shade was able to finish waxing it with just a small part in the sun. I kept messing it up with sweat as it was 95˚F in the shade when I finished. 1/4 watermelon sure tasted good afterwards. Then made a pizza from scratch Made the crust the hummus, the pizza sauce and piled the veggies on top.

Good evening all. 74F for the start, mostly clear, light wind. Wind was 0-12 mph, sky stayed mostly clear, and high temp was 97F HI 104F. 1 more day of 100+ HI then cool front comes through  Got the pickup dropped off, but not fixed, electronics guy needs a part and he is only at dealership Thursday afternoon. After getting home went to work on back porch screen door repair. Then mowed the front yard, drive belt hung in there. After lunch nap rounded out the day's activities.
Buppies nice to hear they caught your ear in time.
RNG thanks for the reminder on the license.
Def sorry for misspelling your first name. No excuse other than not that good of typist and spell check had no clue it was misspelled.
Prayers for all.

Came home to a freshly mowed yard, courtesy of my oldest daughter and son. :) The drought is starting to turn the grass brown.

Don, my Ford buddy says your 2008 F150 should be worth more than 3K, if the mileage is reasonable and it is clean. It has the older Triton engine (if its the V8). These were good engines, but sometimes the spark plug would get built up with carbon (because it protruded into the chamber) and can strip out the threads when pulling out the plug. But you can put a thread insert in them to repair. He said put it for sale yourself and ask $5500 or $6000

Slow at work, We have an old Craftsman sanding center that's all rusty to repair and then bring it home if I want to. Mine's all rusty on the flat surfaces. Debating on flycutting the flat surfaces on the mill, or just sanding them with some sandpaper....I'll probably go the sandpaper route. I don't like to get cast iron or rust in my CNC machine's coolant. Has a 12" round disk on one end, 6" wide belt on the other end, and an oscillating spindle. Darn thing is heavy. It would be great in a wood shop.

I already have a much more heavy duty Dayton sander at work.

RNG, you made me laugh.

Hope our team mates in the hospitals get better soon.

Hope all of you had a good day.

G'nite.

Apology appreciated but not necessary. You should hear what my mom called me when she was angry with me....

good morning all. Took a bit of work figuring out the weather this morning.
WU somehow deleted my "home" and now Fleet, United Kingdom came up as home. Ok.
Also, St.James United Kingdom. Since I have never ever searched those cities, it appears there is a British
influence to WU this morning.

Windows fogged up, damp 73 going up to high 80's with storms this afternoon.
Which is what they said would happen yesterday, and didn't. Did get a .04 sprinkle last night.

getting estimate on painting work, meeting guy early this morning. Oil deck paint, medium grey, not lasting more than two years,
this time I want a pro to do it with better paint, his go to was Valspar, which is fine with me. About 80 linear feet of wood porch,
thankfully stiles and rails are white plastic. Those I powerwashed and washed with a soapy mit yesterday.
That little exercise plus holding a powerful pressure washer for hours
now has my right elbow throbbing and a jabby pain right along my spine. No pain no gain in some ways...
And which is why I 'm going to pay someone to do all this painting, simply can't do it anymore.

I have slowly hinted to my fireman neighbor that my time here is getting shorter.
He is in love with my big Massey, has used/borrowed most of my equipment anyway, I've been a free rental yard for him, so last night
I made up a list of my bigger equipment and put down a number for the tractor plus all the implements that would not convey to a new farm buyer,
and made a package deal for him. In other words, when I leave, he just drives the equipment over to his place, or more likely across the street where his 100 acre family
farm is. He really wants to play farm and for sure, now that I'm thinking about it, both his fireman buddies have JD 2 and 3 SCUTS.

Guys have been playing mine is bigger than yours for a long time...

68 high of 79 rain today

Prayers for all in need

Good morning all. Heavy rain has been causing a lot of problems to the north and west, we have been very lucky to miss most of it. A mini version of what happened at Oroville has caused thousands of people to be evacuated from the the town of Whaley Bridge. The dam couldn't cope with the volume of water coming in for the last couple of days. Whaley Bridge memorial park flooding 219 - YouTube

The wall has now been breached and the race is on to get the water level down before it totally collapses. I first heard about it on the radio and looked online to see a picture. Instead of just the national news coverage from a helicopter, what I found incredible was huge quantity of people with drones, all flying over taking pictures then putting them on you tube. For some strange reason, they then decide to add inappropriate or weird sound tracks, this being about the least annoying. Whaley Bridge Dam Collapse: Town Evacuated Over Flood Fears - YouTube

Still can't beat a handheld camera with a microphone for capturing sound Bridges and Roads Washed Away in Yorkshire as Month's Rain Falls in One Day - YouTube

Good morning! 76˚F heading to the hundreds.
, you will be toast.
I suppose that could be good news for someone who watches their food carefully - doesn't toast have more of that healthy restistant starch ? :)

Good morning! 76˚F heading to the hundreds. (For Eric: 101, 102, 103 not 100 200 300:laughing:)

Heading to the gardens after a mile sunrise walk with Whipper.

In the mornings the roads and sidewalks are filled with walkers, bikers, and golf carts. People are still playing golf and pickle ball all afternoon. In the afternoon the pools and inside activities are busy. I hope you can find an active community Drew. Being a vegetation warrior is fun but there are other things also. I get just enough GWT (Grass Weeds Tree) war play with the hiking club, Firewire club (in cooler weather) and the horticulture club and of course my yard.

Coffee is done brewing. 52° with clear skies this morning. Heading to 82° with lots of sun. Woke up at 1:30 this morning with a Sassy crying and barking. Had a bad stomach. Let her out to relieve herself. Gave her some bland dog food. She had settled down by 3:30 am. But the other 2 dogs ( we are dog sitting sons dog this weekend ) were so upset from Sassy's crying they were shaking from head to toe. Took another hour to get them settled down. Finally got a hours sleep. Need to get grocery shopping done today. Then some conserve energy.

Drew, good luck with your search for the next place to call home.

Buckeye and Randy, keep going with the recovery. Prayers sent.

Good Morning All.

Good morning. It's 73°F, 95% humidity, and no wind this morning. We'll see 98°F or higher this afternoon. Rain chances looking grim.

I'm taking advantage of tanks being down, by about 15", getting rid of a bunch of Sedge in the overflow area. I sprayed it with a 3% Roundup Custom Aquatic / surfactant last Friday.

Took pictures of the area yesterday and it won't be long before it's gone.

Eric .... it's good you're place isn't in that area. Hope they can get dam repaired, won't be a quick solution.

Don ..... stay cool and hydrated. Are y'all in burn bans yet?

Prayers continue for BEF and Randy.

Everyone have a great Friday and weekend.

Prayers to all.

Haven't heard of any but then that would be in the county. Everything is mulched in the neighborhood and town. I haven't seen anyone burning in the county.

The constant lightning and thunder flowed by north of us all night, but we finally got some much needed showers around 6am. Clouds are keeping us below the hundreds, about 83, up from 68 right now.

Once the grass dries, will start back on mowing. Was so dry and crunchy yesterday, just went hiking in the forest and then roasted coffee.

Hope Sassy is okay.

Good Morning!!!! 70F @ 5:45AM. Plentiful sunshine. High 97F. Winds light and variable.

Hope the dam holds, Eric. Once the undermining starts, all bets are off, as they found with Oroville's spillway. The actual dam at Oroville was never in danger, but if the erosion had progressed to the foundation of the spillway, and if failed, the top 20' of the reservoir would have poured through town. Oroville is the second larges reservoir in the state, so that would have been a LOT of water. Some say that would not have been a bad thing, but none of them lived there.

I think this'll be the last time I'll paint a house myself, too, Drew. The ladders are too heavy, climbing them makes my legs hurt, and my hands don't work so well after a day's effort behind the brush. Hopefully I'll get another ten years out of what I'm putting on now? There's nothing like a cross country trip to find your forever home...

That's some fast acting glyphosate, Rick. Nice work!

Glad the wax worked out, Don.

Still no word from the Kubota salesman about using R1s on the M62. Guess I'll have to find another dealer that wants my business.

I'm either going deaf or people at the DMV have lost their ability to communicate. I had to ask both clerks to repeat themselves multiple times; one kept mumbling, the other had his face pointed down and away, but what they were saying made no sense anyway. "Now go get your picture taken", he said. Where? He points in a direction where there's no camera or sign visible. I finally ask if it's where a couple of guys are standing in line, and get a nod...:confused2: Anyway, $28 later and another couple weeks and I'll have a RealID. And no, the expiration of my driver's license didn't get moved out to a new date.:muttering:

I think I can get another quarter of the sprinkler system hooked up this morning, flush out the lines, and climb the big ladder one last time on that side to cap it off. Then maybe have another go at timing the big dirt bike if it's not too hot by then.

Started smoking some ribs yesterday afternoon a bit too late, then started a movie and forgot about them until I heard the grill running outside the bedroom door when I went to bed. Thanks to low, indirect heat, hey looked perfect, all nice and red from the smoke, and will be fine in the 'fridge until I take them out for a quick baste and some additional time in the grill to warm up tonight.:licking:
