Eric With the cottontail rabbit they nest on top of the ground, even if there are ground hog holes nearby. Do you have rabbits or hairs? I have seen pics of the holes and we nave nothing like that. A ground hog hole though can leave a hole 8" wide and 2' long and a foot deep. Hard on equipment even on flat ground and can be nasty on hills.

I do like to see hares, either solitary, or on the rare occasions when I have caught sight of a group boxing. It must be 3 or 4 years since I last saw one around here, they seem to prefer larger open spaces.

Rabbits can be cute too, but not when they start to dig holes under my barn. There are hundreds of rabbits around these fields. I try to fill in their holes before they get established, or else they will go down several feet and make interconnecting chambers. Like your ground hogs, they make sloping ground especially treacherous places for a tractor. I try and keep the numbers down with a 22 rimfire in the summer months and a .17HMR once the nights start to draw in.

Good morning. It's stopped raining and would be quite pleasant to get a few things done outside, but I have gone and promised I would accompany my dear wife to the shops.

Yesterday when I took the blades off the grass topper (topper = English bush hog), I noticed what at first looked like a crack in the bottom of the thread on one of the M20 fixing bolts.

A camera is better at looking closer than my eyes. It looks to me now like galling that has torn through the zinc plating, but I welcome your opinion too. With the swinging blade it keeps in place weighing 2 lbs, it is still a good excuse to let things grow until I get some new bolts.

I was under the impression that it was extremely difficult to own or shoot rifles in the UK.
Do they have to be registered?

Ed, congrats on the new welding equipment. Sounds like you know how to use it.

I ran a welding service back in the 80's but never had a TIG or the chance to use one so I am excited to get the chance to learn. Went out yesterday and rented a bottle of argon and got some filler rod. Hope to try it out soon but it might have to cool down, and life might have to slow down a bit. Next few days are full. Ed

Good morning all. 68 this am going to 89 with a 30% chance of thunderstorms this pm. I will be going grocery shopping this am and working on a closet after it gets hot. Supposed to be hot and humid with a heat index of 100 to 105 this weekend and we are supposed to go to a picnic for the home mom is staying in. They have a picnic every year for the old folks and get a bunch of people to come and have fun and eat. Wonder how the old folks will do with the heat. Wonder how I will do with the heat.

Eric just watched a video of hares boxing, never heard of it before. Quite a show.

Have a great day. Ed

Need to pour second cup of coffee. 72° with overcast skies this morning. Heading to 88° with chance of thunderstorms. Let dog out a few minutes ago. I can hear thunder in the distance. It's very sticky out there. Nothing planned for today since doctor visit was canceled. But as usual something will show up.
Yesterday went to gun shop in town where Irv lives. Decided I needed some training before purchasing a handgun. Signed up for handgun class and CPL class. Part of the handgun class includes handling and using many of the different guns available in all calibers. Both classes should help provide me with information on purchasing a handgun or not. While I have handled rifles all my life. There just have not been many opportunities with handguns.
Ed, welder sounds like a good purchase.
Good Morning All.

73 going to 92. Already worked up a sweat just filling and hanging feeders (and playing Frisbee and Dokken).

Heading to the gym after roasting coffee, and then down to SE Virginia for a meeting...maybe a little mowing if the grass dries before I have to leave.

Ron, taking those classes sounds like a good idea.

Eric, can't tell if it's a crack, but seems like replacing it is money well spent. Taking wife to the shops...time well spent.

Good morning. Got to Albany at 2 am after a few delays. The Delta servers going down is still rippling through the system with delays and overbooking. Storm in Minneapolis kept us on the runway a couple of hours.
Two things came up last night.
As I boarded the plane, the stewardess asked me,"Sir, please change seats. There are not enough oxygen masks on that side."
What?
And sitting in a large aluminum tube out in the middle of a flat area during a thunderstorm with lighting all around just doesn't seem the best course of action.

Got an email back from Alamo saying they are pretty sure my old flail mower is not a Mott. But I'm sure it is though the model is still in question. I want to order a new belt and some new knives for it in order to install when I'm home sometime this winter.

Off to my meeting. You'll know which one I am. The guy dozing off!

Hope everyone has a good day.
