Low 20's only heading to low 30's for the high. Partly cloudy. Looks like a good day to relax and enjoy the pellet stove.
61 trips around the sun yesterday.
............................
Wishing you many more trips around the sun Phil. :)

JB, getting out of the door to chop wood must have put a big smile on your face. If the electric spliter is too slow, buy a kindling cracker and a big hammer. It is fast and immensely satisfying. Not as dangerous as chopping with an axe, only downside is the risk of developing biceps bigger than your shirts. :D

I'll second that, Jay. Or you could, like Eric, make one from stuff found laying around the property. But when it comes to hammers, my hands quickly tired from a two pound maul. A sixteen ounce ball pein seems just right, though the handle is a bit long. To each his or her own, eh? As far as biceps go, I think your shirts are safe with a kindling kracker, but should I be worried about the effect the chainsaws and trees might have?:confused2::laughing:

Mostly, congrats on your anniversary.

64 yesterday morning, 34 this morning, more normal temps for March have returned. At least no temps in the ten day under freezing, a good thing for all the flowers I've planted.

Struggled with putting finish mower on new tractor yesterday, and even with help we just couldn't do it. Cat one mower just not fitting on a Cat two only tractor, spacing for one seems to be at 30 inches and second at 38. Lower arms just wouldn't come in far enough.
Worse is it appears the dealer sold me a new Bush Hog with the same problem, we couldn't get that on either. Not sure it's a matter of just swapping out pins either. Land Pride might make different lower "weldments" that dismount with a couple of pins, but not sure, will research on Monday. Most of my other equipment is Cat 1 and 2, with a double hookup. Not my LP finish mower nor this new bush hog. Latter the dealer will have to fix, but sure hope I can convert the mower. Meanwhile moved a lot of equipment around, trying to make use of limited covered storage. Once again I find mounting implements to be aggravating for one with reduced hand function and this is why having extra tractors is marvelous. But I need to cut back, declutter... and hopefully will not have to buy a new finish mower to solve this. The LP 84 inch rear discharge mower works perfectly, hate to see it go for something simple like this, but no amount of Googling found an optional hitch kit. Has nothing to do with spacers, it's a width issue on the lift arms.

I don't have that issue as most of my implements are cat 2 or cat 2-3;
I am wondering if a person couldn't take a cat 1 quick hitch and add an outside tab on both lower mounts to fit to the tractor lower lift arms and then weld an extension on for the top link to mount to.
That would seem to me to be a decent way to do for mounting cat1 implements to a cat 2 tractor.

Good Morning Everyone!!!! Happy Saint Patrickç—´ Day for those who celebrate!!!!

25ºF was today's low temperature, 26ºF now with a few snowflakes in the air, and today's high may reach freezing temperatures. Cooler temperatures most of the week and most importantly a lot of sun and dry weather.

Last night's corn beef boiled (pressure cooked the beef) was great eats. A very rare meal here nowadays. Interesting history on how corned beef and St. Patrick's Day became identified together in the USA; a true example of minority groups blending of cultures in NYC. I hope Eric corrects me if I am wrong, but boiled dinner on the other side of the pond is different (i.e. no cornbeef).

RNG- I read about the top down burn in Popular Mechanics, and like you I thought it was BS, but I tried it on our old stove. It worked better than anticipated and I have been burning top down ever since. I may put a piece or two of pencil width kindling down first to increase airflow. It depends on the firewoodç—´ size & shape. I use 2X-3X more newspaper than you to get things going. Soft woods like pine are not that common around here as firewood or fire starting due to the creosote. I will burn pine scrap wood, but only if I am out of split kindling. I used to burn all kinds of "stuff" (bones, personal/financial paper) in our old wood stove which could take a 22 - 24 log. An 18 log is the longest that I can place widthwise in the new stove. The new stove likes to be cleaned out following each burn. It's a PITA, but there is very little ash left as I tend to burn this stove a little "hot" I clean the stovepipe 2X/year. The last time I cleaned the stovepipe (September) there was ~1/4 cup of creosote flakes that I vacuumed up.

Bruce- Congratulations on the 42 years together. I wish you many more healthy and happy years together.

Drew- I am sorry to read about the Category 1 and 2 attachment mismatches. "... You just have to stand up to these people, and tell them immediately you won't pay." Good luck. Massachusetts General Hospital tried to pull a similar $ stunt on me with a (their) SNAFU with prior authorization. It took a lot of calls and a lot of discharged -emotional energy, but my health insurance finally paid. I壇 still be paying if things were not resolved.

Randy- I wish you safe travels and a great day with your Grandson and family.

RonJH- Good luck with the SS bureaucracy. Thanks for sharing your wildlife pictures.

Bill- Happy Birthday. I hope you can enjoy your birthday as anticipated, and I wish you many more trips around the sun.

Eric- I like that contraption and the suggested seating arrangement by RNG; better than a shower stool. The only thing I use my hand sledge on is setting garden stakes and pounding meat in meal prep. For me it would be forearms; my biceps are shot.

I hope everyone is having a decent day.

My + thoughts, wishes, and prayers.
