51 and breezy, much cooler than yesterday. Tomorrow is supposed to be cooler yet, before warming a bit next week.
Went to Panera Bread this morning, ordered sausage, egg and cheese on Farmstyle bread. The egg was way over easy, as in not cooked, I didn’t order over easy to begin. I went to the counter and showed them, she said you have to tell the clerk, I wasn’t given any options and never knew a place that defaults to over easy. So they made it over, I got ham, scrambled eggs and some kind of bread that tasted like a shoe box, and it tasted like garlic. The whole thing was dry as heck. I didn’t argue, I just won’t go back. Rant over.

We are headed to Front Royal in the morning for my oldest grandson’s birthday, he is going to be 10. My late wife lived for those three grandsons, I hate that she is missing them growing up.

Good day and God’s blessings on you.

63°F and .29 inches rain.
Expect to get last of flashing on roof. Need to figure out place to dismount BH from Kioti as its normal spot is temporarily unavailable.

Prayers for all
Be safe
Have a great day

Last yr it took over my garden also. Had it growing a ft high under my weed block. This stuff is thick.

Ask your county extension agent for help in identification of your weeds. He / she can probably give you a more “local” recommendation on appropriate treatment as well.

37ºF presently winds are gusting to ~30mph.

Ted- I was careful on the deck. I took my first whizz (downwind) off the deck in ~10 weeks w/o incident.

I now have access to the Big Green Egg. I see barbecue in my near future.

The wood splitter cycled pretty slowly; just like the owner/operator. It took ~ 2hours. I now have enough kindling to last till next Fall.

Randy- I am sorry to read about your experience, I've never been impressed with Panera.

Tonight I am cooking a local sourced and corned corn beef. A far better product than what's available in supermarkets. Not exactly health food. I believe a couple of bottles of Guinness will act as an antidote.

I hope that everyone is having a decent day

Pre-season baseball is nap inducing.

Glad you're getting more mobile, Jay. Your kindling looks to be not much smaller than my splits for firewood. I find I can stuff the stove a bit more full with the smaller pieces, and since all my wood is oak or manzanita, it's lighter to handle as well. My kindling ranges from pencil to finger size, bigger pieces just won't ignite from the newspaper knots I start with. What wood are you using?

Meanwhile I put the microwave on to defrost a solitary hot cross bun I have found hiding in the freezer yesterday. If you ever want to know how long it takes to incinerate one of those buns, I have the answer - I must have been pressing the 10 minute button :duh:

My record for atomic oatmeal was 22 minutes on high setting, and took two weeks of soaking in vinegar on the back porch to get it free from the glass bowl. Yes, the glass was somewhat etched by the time I was able to use that bowl again, and it took several sprayings of the microwave with Lysol and wiping with bleach to get the smell out. Fortunately it was summertime, and keeping the windows open had the rest of the house smelling somewhat normal in a week or so. This is how I learned to always take a second look at the display on the microwave before pushing the Start button.:confused3:

Denton, TX, has two Panera Bread places. My wife and I ate in one (the newer one) once. I wouldn't say it was "bad", but I figure it wasn't good enough to ever go there again. However, it appears that they are both quite popular.

RNG- I make newspaper knots too. Most of my recent firewood purchases have been mostly oak, the different maples, and some birch. The firewood that I am burning this season is ~3 years old and it looks like I'll be burning it next season. Historically with the old stove I burned <2 cords/season. With the new wood stove and the "free" electricity and the new high efficiency mini split it looks like I'll be burning significantly less wood closer to ~.5 cord/season.

The firebox in this new stove is really small. I load 2 16" - 18" 1/4's first which really fills the box up before I load the newspaper and then place the kindling on top. The kindling burns down; the coals ignite the 1/4's. The stove manufacturer recommended this top down burn method. It does work with this stove.

I used to cut and split a lot of ash and poplar for kindling. The ash splits easily burns fairly well even green and seasoned poplar burns really hot and fast with stinky smoke. Ash is not a popular wood right now due to the emerald ash borer killing the ashes. It is recommended that ash not be stored over season due to the AEB infestation (which has not happened around here yet). My Tree Project entails the removal of ~20 ash trees hear the house and preventive measure for one specimen tree. The ashes will be "mulched."
