62°F and .34 inches rain.
Wife renewed her Drivers license. Such a crock the documentation required for renewal, proof of birth, social security, address verification. Initial license sure, but not every renewal. ☹️

Bulk diesel delivery scheduled for today. First time with this company.

Prayers for all. Additionally for those in NZ and experiencing extreme wx.
Be safe

Have a great day

Eric I’m looking for an additional taste of umami (the 5th taste) for your sandwich so it will be more fulfilling for you and you do not feel like you are missing something.

The pic above was my open face sandwich for lunch. The jackfruit sandwich is on a whole wheat toasted bun and there is a bowl of purple (antioxidant) cabbage soup also. Very savory.

What we need to do for you is find that item that is needed to add the umami taste to your sandwich. If all bean hummus is out there is always roasted root vegetable hummus and spices. If there is a bean you can eat there are many spices to make it a taste savory to you.

41°F and light rain this morning, going up to 48° today.

Leaving work yesterday, I was about to exit the parking lot when a bunch of STL Police cars went screaming into the gas station across the street, and about 7 or 8 cops jumped out with guns trained on a car at one of the pumps, yelling for the guy to get out of the car. He did not, and they dragged him out, wouldn't go down, so one went behind and yanked his legs out ... then he went down, hard. No idea what that was all about, but watching it unfold from directly across the street had me a bit concerned about any errant gunfire ... which fortunately didn't materialize.
A day in the life in North St. Louis.

Wife sent me a text today linking a story about a guy walking around a local Walmart store (Bridgeton, MO) with a knife and a BB gun, causing a "disturbance." (shaking my head)

I just want to go home and crawl back under my rock for a couple of days.

82 degrees out. About to crack a bottle of chilled sauvignon blanc and just chill out.

Hoed two rows of collards early this morning while it was cool, then planted a tray of yellow cabbage collards to grow some fill ins for the ones I fried with fertilizer. Then planted two pecan trees I picked up at Lowes this morning, and then put a new set of blades on my cub cadet rider mower. I thought I was going to sharpen them, oh my, they were almost completely dissolved at the ends. Cheap thin blades used on a sandy river lot by my friend. 46 hours and the blades were toast. I usually get three or four years out of good blades, like to sharpen my own at least twice a summer. Good thing I had a spare set of blades for that mower.

Tomorrow morning I take it back to my friend for another season of unintentional abuse. Had to thoroughly clean the sand and grit out of everything. At least the deck is a HD fab deck so it won't wear out. Nor will the 24hp Kawasaki engine. The rest of the mower is pretty cheesy, an LT2 model, but I figure at 23 hours a year use, I can do enough maintenance on it to keep it going for awhile. Sealed spindle bearings, which in sandy soil is probably a good thing for once.

Had to go put an electric fan in the greenhouse, just getting too hot in there even with the door and roof vent open. I have a shade that goes up on one side of it, inside, and it's definitely time to put that up.

and I planted carrots too. Windy day, very nice to be outside but now a New Zealand Marlborough to sit with and read my book.
Thunderstorms coming in after dinner.

Just had a thunderstorm roll through, .43 “ of rain in 25 minutes, wind gusts and sharp lightning that had the cat running one way and the dog another, while barking at the windows. First thunderstorm of the year.

Busy day today, working with the wife at her shop. Tired, I worked a charity poker tournament last night, didn’t get home until 3 am. Been a long time since I did that! Amazing what people will do, I was surprised at the turnout, and the amount of money wagered. We had a visit from a state gaming inspector, making sure everything was legit. The charity did well, and we weren’t sent to the pokey, so I guess everything was ok.

Good evening all. 36F for the start, clear, windy. Stayed windy all day. sky stayed mostly clear and high temp was 60F. Slow start in morning, had trip to Sherman, dropped bike off and bought a new pressure washer. Dog walk uneventful, no bike ride, Sherman trip took too long :(
Running late, prayers for all.

Thanks, i used to use scotts weed and feed with halts, but stopped be because of price.

Scott's and most Weed n' Feeds are loaded with Atrazine herbicide. IMHO most Weed n' Feeds are crappy fertilizers mixed with dangerous herbicides. In other words ..... they are crap!

You'll soon see lawsuits against Atrazine which, unlike Glyphosate, is a real problem

If you use the correct fertilizer, for the specific time of year, for your specific area, you will have good results.

In early spring, once ground temperatures are consistently at 60°F or higher, you should apply a quick release / fast green-up fertilizer with a N-P-K ratio of 3-1-2, like a 15-5-10.

In a few weeks, apply a slow release product, like a 19:4:10, with a slow release nitrogen.

The Bonide Weed Beater Complete granular is a good low temp pre-emergent / post emergent herbicide for early spring application. Use it again in the Fall when it cools down. You can also use Bonide Weed Beater Ultra, in a sprayer, for low temp spot treatment.

Best advice I can give you, is to meet your County Extension Agent and develop a relationship with him / her.

We are blessed in Texas to have the Texas A&M supported "Texas Agri-Life Program. They are a HUGE resource for us.

This is a great lawn program, kinda specific to our area of Texas, but good information for review for your area.

Randy Lemmon

Randy likes Atrazine even less than I do.

The big takeaway is that healthy soil will grow great preferred grasses that will choke out weeds.

Read The Label. The Label is the Law.

Another pretty good day
Perhaps the highlight, delivery of 522 gallons of red diesel. One of the objectives of this project that has taken way longer than anticipated.

This could be a year supply. Will have to look at additives. Any suggestions?

Will also be adding sun UV protection for tanks.

17 and going to a high of 25°F. Wind NW 16 gusting to 23 mph. Snow! It has snowed all night.
I'll go out about noon today and deal with it.

Other than plowing, I have nothing to do and so will conserve energy.

Have a good Saturday all

Fluid Film White Bottle...a gallon or so ought to do the job.
