Walmart stopped offering Great Value in 1/2 gallon sized containers??? Are you talking about a particular type, such as skimmed milk? The only milk I ever buy, or have bought for several years, is the Walmart Great Value 1/2 gallon "Vitamin D" milk (I only want full strength) and there's never been a shortage in this part of the country. And I only buy the 1/2 gallon size because we use so little milk that I usually poor half of that down the drain when I buy a new bottle, even though it's still good.

Walmart has gotten bad here locally out of 24 pack water we buy for over a month same thing with yogurt and the other day had to wait three hours for refill on insulin

After 6" snow wed, it hit 50° yesterday at home, 60° at work. Lot of snow melted.

Good morning to all! Low of 22, going up to 38 early, then as a front comes across, dropping temps back down to around 30. The snow yesterday just gave us a dusting, apparently going north and dumping on Durango / SW Colorado. My daughter reported having 20" on the ground.
Today, when the front comes across, we may get a "quick 3-6", as described by the weather guesser.
Drew, glad to hear that they didn't find any abnormalities on the MRI. Hopefully treatment will now be straightforward.
Roy, glad Suzette is recovering and progressing.
Not sure what the day will bring, just taking it as it comes.
Everyone stay dry, warm, and safe! Prayers sent.

I'm not quite as bad as Ron; the iPhone here is set to Do Not Disturb from 9 PM to 9 AM. But unless it's go-to-town day, it sits on the headboard in the bedroom, which happens to be where the cell phone amplifier antenna is, so it can receive calls. Unfortunately, the ringer on the darn thing isn't loud enough to be heard anywhere else in the house.:confused2: AT&T sez they'll have the land line fixed by the end of next week, but I'll believe that when I hear a dial tone again. They said the same thing for January. :muttering:

No milk problems I know of here at Walmart, but then again I don't grocery shop there because they don't have a lot of the things on my grocery list (it's not one of the super stores).
Made a pretty good dent in the first brush pile yesterday, going through two tanks of gas in the little Stihl before my back told me it was time for lunch. Got a lot less firewood out of the effort than I was hoping for, way less than a quarter cord. I did get a modest size burn pile stacked, and a line of brush all set to feed it, and it looks like the wind will cooperate today as well. I find it much more satisfying dumping the slash directly into the fire than piling it up.
Took the skylight off the pop top yesterday and replaced the gasket. The new gasket also had creases in the bulb part, but fewer, and the bulb wasn't as big, so maybe it'll seal better. The instructions said to loosen the hardware to let the plastic cover self center, but the hardware didn't have much slack in it at all. I used some silicon grease to help it seal, but I can see that the hinge side is higher than the latch side, and this makes me think my chances for success are somewhat limited. I think today I'll put a towel and a couple heavy blocks on top of it to encourage the seal to mould to the lid, and leave them there through the storms that are due in next week.

It's still cold this morning -4°. It was cold yesterday, it never got above 8° with overcast skies and 15 mph wind. Today is going to be partly cloudy this morning and sunny in the afternoon with a high in the mid 20's. The forecast shows the temperature in the 40's for the first part of next week. That would be a nice change. It's been quite a while since I've seen those forecasted highs.
Going to try a new fix for the defroster on the ranger. If not I'll need a new plan D.

After 75 years, this story, which was told to me some time ago by a friend who's son knows Tony, is receiving a lot of media coverage today.
On the 22nd February, 1944, a badly damaged B-17 Flying Fortress crashed in Endcliffe Park, Sheffield, killing all 10 of the crew. An 8 year old boy called Tony saw the plane, running on one engine and circling the park that he and his friends were playing in. One of the crew waved at the boys, but only later did Tony realise that they weren't just being friendly, they wanted they boys to move so they could attempt a landing. They didn't move and the place crashed on the hill side. Every since Tony has been tending to the memorial for the men that died.
Today a flypast of British and American planes was organised in memory of the crew and that little boy that never forgot them.

We go through 1-1/2 gallons of milk about every two weeks. One gallon is chocolate milk, most of which I drink, and the other 1/2 gallon is regular vitamin D whole milk. We rarely don't get through the chocolate milk before it starts to go bad. I'm more of a "smell and taste" checker than expiration date. The whole milk, though, we rarely get through before it goes bad. We have a regional dairy company called Prairie Farms Dairy that used to be the supplier for Walmart's Great Value brand milk, but I think they get it elsewhere these days. We usually buy the Great Value brand, as it's much less expensive than the PF label (even when it used to be the same milk). I don't know that we've ever had any issues finding the 1/2 gallon whole milk.

That's a good idea, except . . . . the only reason I don't use it up is because I need to lose weight instead of adding more weight. Store bought ice cream with milk, flavors, fruit, etc. in our blender makes great drinks that I'd like to have often except for the weight problem.
