Those with children that need special attention are special. We also have several in our extended family. Each child has there own quirks and well as their special talents. Kyle's child is a great artist. This was in another TBN thread. Kaylee is 10 years old, autistic and has ADHD.

25°F and cloudy this morning, going up to 44° today. The snow that was supposed to dissipate early yesterday ended up hanging around all day and into the evening. My car was covered when I left work, and we got about an inch at home by the time it stopped. More expected tomorrow, then a plunge into the teens.

I don't watch TV, so I don't have to deal with news bias there. I get most of my news from local CBS radio affiliate KMOX, along with a couple of internet sites. All have their various slants. I'm not sure a successful news source has ever existed that didn't have some manner of slant or bias. I look at both sides, then usually find the truth somewhere in the middle.

I could use some pew pew therapy myself. Been awhile.

Yup, that's my memory.
so did a kid named Jimmie have these named after him?
now that would be interesting to find out.

I always thought jimmies were the best, cool little chocolate cylinders and come to find out these
chocolate ones were regional. I wonder if Hershey had anything to do with that?

tiny multicolored sugar shapes, typically rods and balls, used for decorating cakes, ice cream, and other desserts; sprinkles.
(especially in the US Northeast) chocolate rod-shaped sprinkles.
A local ice cream shop is called Jimmie cone...

That is what I do. Separate the wheat from the chaff. I use CTV and CBC for Canadian news and CNN and Fox for American. BBC for U.K.

It was 1° when I went to bed last night and 13° when I got up this morning. Looks like we got a light dusting of snow overnight. The forecast says snow showers this morning and cloudy the rest of the day. With the high In the 20's and a light breeze.

I have made a wooden box to fit in the back of the side by side to keep a few things in. It fits into the holes and grooves of the box so it just pulls out but doesn't move around. It looks like it's going to work out, it just wide enough for a chainsaw. Worked on getting it ready to paint yesterday I'll pick the paint up tomorrow.

Going to clean the shop up today.

Eric ... The block heater is a Kat's made by Five Stars manufacturing the model is 11407. That is what was in it when I got the tractor. It worked fine for the first few years it seems like a on going problem the last three years. I called the company and ask about it, they said that they didn't have one that would fit a Cummins three cylinder engine. And that he would look in to it and call me back. That was two days ago.

Hope everyone has a good hump day.
CWB.

Thomas, cool story about your turkeys. Your place sounds like a real wildlife paradise.
……………………………
Mrs. and I devote time $$$$$'s towards critters all year but the joy they give us priceless. :)
One time I'll never forget what Mrs. said to conservation group when confronted her about wildlife roaming on our property...group had sour attitude etc.. "The wildlife welcome here your not you better leave now"...they left kicking dirt and Mrs. put sign up at beginning of driveway...IF YOU CAN READ THIS YOUR IN RANGE... We've yet to be bothered last 19 years.

^^^^^ I/We agree. We've been trying to improve this property for the native wildlife since we bought this place +30 years ago. We've introduced more native animal and insect attracting plants and shrubs and with selective cutting have improved the "bio-diversity" and habitat. One of our abutting (+100A) neighbors is a never to be developed land trust. We are members. Their program forester really likes what we are trying to do on our 13A's.

Fully claimed until Alpha Female  shows up. Periodically throughout the day there are sofa turf challenges. Beds are a "no no" while we are home. ;)

When you hang those cans for your pew, pew, pew therapy, fill them with water first.;)

Planned on it, thanks for reminder.. I will remember your post when I start shooting empty cans LOL

I also need to get on roof and replace the vent stack seals.. got new ones, just haven't ventured on roof yet. Also got some flex seal to help if needed..

RNG, years ago a hotel gave me a room that had been smoked in (even though I had guaranteed late arrival for non smoking), I'm allergic so it was a no go, they put an ozone generator in for a couple hours, I could still smell it, but they use that for rooms to remove smoke odor.. perhaps one would help your smoke smell?

Prayers for those in need, stay safe.

Its work but not hard work if you enjoy it,and the payback year/years. :cool2:

Wife had a sales lady from LazyBoy store come out and take measurements and make recommendations for furniture updates... some of our chairs/sofas are 20-30 years old (still in good shape) and the lady pretty much confirmed that how we had things is about how we have to have them.. the colors my wife likes (such as perrywinkle blue) are no longer available, styles are much too "modern" for her...

Our daughter that is building a new house in spring is interested in our old stuff, so we have some time, but it will take time to find some new stuff my wife likes that fits our space..

I had permission from old Harry Guyette and his two brother to hunt, fish, and hike the property before they all died. In their 80's they would still scythe their hayfield.

Trying to improve habitat on this property is more a labor of love than real work, and I agree about the extended payback period. Last year we observed +40 species of birds here. I have not heard a whippoorwill here in many years nor seen the courtship flights of a woodcock. The Guyette Farm's focus is on improving habitat to encourage the return of woodcocks and ruffed grouse. In "theory" our property is a really decent habitat for both; but no one has told the birds. Another abettor is not as supportive as we :(.
