Billy, nothing like scraping wet green crud off the bottom of a deck. Since I never wear gloves it's even
more fun...

with the clippings dispersal problem I have been having with the new mower deck aka clumps, I made sure that was clean before I
tested the new gator style blades. They helped a lot, in addition to raising the mower up half an inch to 2.5
That's higher than most mow around here, more like up North, for fescue instead of Bermuda grass. But it clears a lot more roots that way.
I hate hitting roots. I apologize to the tree but I wonder if it hurts in some way. In fact I fired my lawn service they kept hitting my roots so much.

Growing up one of our most interesting neighbors was a Japanese family who lived close by up the hilly road and ran a wood furniture shop. Only solid wood furniture, all highly styled in a timeless way. His name was Nakashima, some of you may have seen his furniture. It's like art, it is art, with a price tag to match. My father could never afford the dining room table and chairs he wanted, it was the college fund or those chairs and the college fund won out. One of my closest friend's Father could afford it, and when that generation passed a few years back, the dining room set for 8 sold for $65,000. Serious stuff...and all driven by a philosophy stated on the front of a big coffee table book I have downstairs, named
Soul Of A Tree. The life and work of George Nakashima. He believed trees had souls and you had to carefully examine and even feel the tree to figure out what the grain would look like for an upcoming project. George and Myra used to come to all my parent's neighborhood parties.
Very quiet guy, like Yodo. He had been interred in Washington during WWII. Not a good thing for a patriotic guy but the times were the times.
Parents have passed, business run by daughter and son.

So this is why I try to treat tree roots (unless I'm planting...) with care. I admit though that trees fall into two categories for me, good trees and junk trees. Likely to be less careful with a junk tree, those maples and ashes and even oaks that pop up where you don't want them and sooner or later are going to have to get cut.

Fox number one: Why is that human making so much noise?
Fox number two: They do that a lot don't they.
Fox number one: I hope he leaves me a crust of muffin again today
Fox number two: yeah, what a great guy
Fox number one: Look, he's waving his arms now
Fox number two: Must mean there's a muffin for us.
Fox number one: Yeah, what a great guy.

Good morning
50 and going to a high of 57F, wind SW 13 gusting to 18 mph. 60% chance of showers/drizzle. The deck is wet so I can safely assume it is raining.

Lots to do outside and rain every other day. :(
I am going to buy a trickle charger today. Both batteries will be out of the boat by the weekend and I am going to store them outside in the tractor shed, I think.

It is a shame about the barn, but at least there was no loss of life, animal or human.

You guys in the SE U.S., try to stay dry.

Have a good day all

Good morning! 74˚ inside the house. 57˚ outside. high of 74˚ today, lots of sunshine - one of those perfect fall days, the trees have not started to turn color everything is very green from the frequent rains the last few weeks.

Yesterday Gray2 must have slipped by one of us as we entered the house. He is usually at the door wanting to make a quick dash outside to freedom. We did a search of the area but held off on a general APB. He finally meowed at the back door at 8PM, missing for 5 hours. He is not making the transition well, he needs to be a outside wanderer. He wants more than just airing out. Now we have to make the decision weather to send him back to the country. Several people wanted him when we moved, but he has been with us for 10 years.

51 degrees this morning; unbelievable and going for a high of 69. It's supposed to be sunny today; that'll be 2 days in a row, before more rain the next few days. But we're thankful that we don't have to contend with the problems the folks in the path of the hurricane have had.

Don, when Ellen moved in here, she wanted to bring her cats, but they were so happy where they were she decided to leave them with her son and his girlfriend at her place. The cats are far happier with environment than exact human company. She visits them and they are roaming familiar territory by day and sleeping in their own beds at night.

Ive been having to clean mower deck every cutting. Did not clean after last cutting yet, expect it to be wet. I use a mower lift from tsc, then use a 4" putty knife to scrape. Then i use push broom to move it all out from under mower, than a large grain shovel to move it outside.

How is the major handled? Just a rewrite and an inspection to confirm compliance. That’s how our audit failures are handled. But if the same problems are found 2 years running then you can loose your certification.

The fix is going to be pretty easy...just correcting an error on a spread sheet. However, the investigation to ensure no negative effect on product and the RCCA (Root Cause/Corrective Action) is going to be a little more difficult as some of the people responsible for the error are no longer with the company. That, and the fact that the QE involved is new to quality assurance (pretty fresh out of college) and the company.
We'll help him, of course...

I have a thing for sugar maples and oak. Hate to cut even a small one in a flower bed. But then im not over run with them, yet. My wife dug a small maple from her flower bed, put it in a flower pot for me to transplant. When i got around to it, discovered it was actually poison ivy. Lol. I'm not supposed to tell about that...

I love building with oak.
