I grew up in northeastern NC, and my parents were from northern Alabama, so I know what he means. I was just calling attention to a situation that aggravates me, people moving to the country, then complaining because it’s like the country, then trying to make it like wherever they came from.

That’s a MAJOR rub here. Wanna tick off a local, just interject, “but back in California....” seems too many people decide what they need to change what made the place attract them in first place. One of the reasons I don’t miss where I grew up in Maine, now mini Mass.

Pressure washed the green off the front of the garage. Had to use extension ladder and run the wand one handed. Glad that is done. Then cleaned grill, and pressure washed some of the pieces.

Our HS football game was postponed last night because of lighning, now the Ohio State game is in lighning delay.

Stepped out to get mail, hot and humid. Storm clouds building up.

If it takes an hour of running before the symptoms, manifest, it's no wonder the dealer couldn't find the problem. No way they're gonna take that much time with it.

Next time it stalls, get your ear right up next to the fuel tank cap and listen for a woosh or hiss when you open it. If you hear one, the fuel tank vent is blocked.

If that's not it, heat build up could be the problem. Does it have an electronic ignition? The control module or rectifier could be getting hot enough to malfunction, or a connection somewhere is faulty and acting as a diode when hot. Get a can of spray freeze (I think it'd just carbon dioxide) at an electronics shop and shoot it at any suspect component to see if it fixes the problem.

Sounds to me like you've exhausted your options at the dealer, so maybe it's time to go over their head and try to find someone at Kubota at a higher level that can help. I bet there's a thread or two here on TBN where someone has done that and would tell you how they did it.

BEF, glad you're feeling better, you might be your own worst enemy when it comes time to rest instead of work... I totally understand.

RIP, I believe that because you can pull out the choke, and it keeps running, that there is no malfunction of spark....A carburetor has it's float bowl, where the gas should stay at a correct level when everything is working/flowing. If you turn off a petcock that stops gas flow, your engine will continue to run for a while depending on load. Then when it starts losing it's gas, you can hit the choke to pull the last bit of gas out of the float bowl (which is what you're doing it seems). What kind and brand of engine does it have? Does it have a small vacuum operated fuel pump? these have a small diaphragm that will use the engine block pulses to pump fuel. Usually they last, but you might have gotten some debris into yours or something. You can put some translucent fuel line and a filter on to actually see what's going on.

I lived in an HOA. Some things good, some not so good. When the cat people get put in charge, the dog's suffer, and vise versa. But all in all, they are designed to protect everyone's home values.

Been staying with my mom since yesterday. She had her gall bladder removed, and since she's elderly, they let her stay overnight for observation. All is well, we are home now, and she's up and about quite a bit. They put CO2 inside of you to inflate you while the surgeon does the laparoscopic surgery. This was part of her pain that they kept her overnight.

We’re told that retail pricing for the Yamaha XTO 425 will start at $44,250 for the 25-inch shaft in right rotation and $45,185 in left rotation. The 30-inch shaft will retail for $45,000 (right) and $45,935 (left). The 35-inch model will be $46,120 (right) and $47,060 (left).

Ouch. About $100G for a pair.

Outside at day break...trimming,dump run,qiuck trip to town for critter food,mowe lawn and front field,now kicking back for the rest of the day.
While mowing front field couple fox pups kept close eye on me just inside the woods line.

sure Randy, I was, and I was too good at being facetious here, I was joking....just to make the point where some neighborhoods could use some better zoning enforcement, not less. I moved to hillbilly heaven and I'm right where I want to be.

I believe what no one likes is the "last ins", those last few residents who want to rewrite history for everyone before them. No. Go back to NYC...

HAHA. Our integrator keeps saying we should do things because that’s how the plant in Georgia does it. They get a little irritated when I say “we ain’t in Georgia”.

Good evening all. 78F this morning, clear sky, calm wind. Moderate wind, sky clouding up, high temp 91F at 11:30 AM. Bike ride this morning, back to house early for tee time with wife and stepdaughter. Fish fry tonight put on by fish club. Rain chances increasing over next several days.

The t-storms finally stopped at around noon. Received 6/10 of an inch. We lost power for a couple of minutes after a 'close strike' and a big thunderclap. Noticed a while later that 2 electric company trucks were repairing the next pole past ours. Apparently the rest of the road didn't have power for a couple hours.

Got outside and took the weed wacker for a long walk around the place. Got mostly all of it prepped for mowing tommorow. Maybe have an hours worth of trimming left to do. Only went up to 68°... Nice!

No HOA here, but we do have covenants as part of the subdivision. We're lucky that we have a private road with only 8 residents (homes). There are 3 residents that have a few cars, trailers, and other 'stuff' around their property, but they are all at the end of the road (1 mile long). I would need binoculars to really see it. I can agree that HOA's can be beneficial in some situations, but I personally would not want to be governed by one.

Here's a 'not so friendly ' HOA story that occurred up in Colorado. There is a rural mountain subdivision of about 150 lots / homes. About 75% are full time residents. The houses range from a low of $250K for a 1000 sq ft up to a million for a 4000sq ft log home. A lot of these homes are cut into the side of the mountain.

One of the restrictions is a setback of 50 ft from the property lines for any permanent structures. Not unreasonable IMHO. Well, a homeowner with a beautiful log home on the side of the mountain, installed a 'covered 3 car carport'. It was exceptionally done, matching the log home by using large logs and timbers. It was professionally installed, permitted, and inspected. A few months later, the HOA demanded the homeowner remove it because it was only 47' from the property line. Of course, the H/O laughed and told them no way!.

The HOA ended up filling a civil lawsuit against the H/O. After a couple of years, numerous court hearings, and tens of thousands of dollars in legal fees, the home owner prevailed and won the case. He then counter sued the HOA AND the individuals that were serving on the HOA board at the time. The HOMEOWNER WON!

The HOA had to file bankruptcy, was disbanded, and was never reformed. This was about 8 years ago. The subdivision is still as beautiful as ever. No junk, no deteriorating homes. It is now expanding to the other side of the mountain with another 200 lots. There are no plans for an HOA.

In the coincidence department, Eric, the current issue of Home Shop Machinist has a small write up on a home made strap wrench for loosening over tight Albrecht chucks. It was made from a length of strip steel with a piece of 1" conduit welded to the end so the band would have something to wrap around. He used a ViceGrip type plier to hold the band tight.

Thanks, that's where I am heading next after my attempts to get it to release by tapping jaws with a small punch failed. If a long lever also fails, I suppose I could cut off the shank and drill it out. Not so easy to drill without a working pillar drill - maybe I should turn this into an opportunity to start a home-built spark erosion project

Good morning all. It has dropped a few degrees and the wind is rising. First day in a long while to really appreciate a warm jacket.

Have recently been adding to my music library downloaded to my I phone and I pad the most recent The Guess Who and The Grass Roots one Canadian one American both out of the 60s.

Thanks for that Bups. I know lots of songs by The Who, never realised their was another rock group called The Guess Who and with the wonderful anything-anytime-you-want internet, have been listening to a few of their tracks while making breakfast.

When I first became a teenager back in '68 records were expensive to buy. I preferred to spend what I had going fishing. A couple of years later and the choice shifted slightly, buy a record, or spend my money on getting to the places where the best girls hung out. To this day I have a poor record collection - though did find a great girl

Eric, I think you made the right purchases...fish and girls. I was lucky, my older sister bought lots of records that I could share. The Guess Who was one.

My wife always says September is the beginning of meteorological autumn...well yesterday still felt like summer to me. Didn't hunt dove yesterday on opening day for the first time in decades...my early sunflower plot failed, and just wasn't seeing enough birds. Plus, got invited over for a cookout and kayak fishing by some friends who live on the river. Storms threatened all afternoon, but only a few brief showers. We got home and the rain gauge was almost full, so guessing a dove shoot would have been rained out anyway.

I believe Home Shop Machinist still sells a write up on building an EDM (Electrical Discharge Machining) tool. It was from quite a few years back, though, and I wonder if the components it used would still be available.:confused3: Might give you some place to start...
