I have been out this morning and said my goodbyes to sunshine. Clouds have eased over from the west and are now squashed tight into every available place in the sky. There is a rumour going around that we may get a light shower if we cross our fingers long enough. 20C/68F at 8am and not set to rise much higher all day. Bliss.

RNG, those sail cloths look a great idea. It would be interesting to put a couple of thermocouples into the stucco to measure just how effective they are.
I couldn't second guess the effect on your A/C unit. At first thought it sounds good to keep it in the shade, but then it doesn't just sit there passively like your house wall, it has to throw out an immense amount of heat, so having an unimpeded air flow is going to be critical.

Are ground source cooling systems in wide use ? Most efficient arrangement for an air cooled unit would be to have enough thermal inertia inside your house for the A/C unit to only run at night time. How do you feel about filling a spare room with concrete blocks, or a huge tank of water ?

Good morning all, 69 now going to 88 with a 50% chance of T-storms. Got a shower yesterday, about 1/10" and it cooled down nicely. Neighbor and I were talking about my drill bit sharpener, and how it won't sharpen cobalt bits. He loaned me his Drill DR to try before I bought one and I love it. Works like a charm. Sharpened 6 or 7 in a few min.

Morning all!

Yesterday my neighbor and I managed to get the SSQA broken bolt removed, oiled it all up, fixed a loose pin and hammered straight one of the bars which was slightly bent, all in about 15-20 min.

Other than that I've played with my 9 year old daughter all weekend. She goes back to the Ex this morning, sadly...

I've got a new problem, my new-to-me F250 7.3 PSD 4x4 snowplow truck the battery is draining almost overnight, got it jumped and on the charger since Friday. Friday I also fixed 2 flats on my wife's Arctic Cat 450 ATV & charged that battery also. I'm making progress! I think...

Trying to decide if I sell for parts my Ranger snowplow truck & the salt spreader I removed from the F250, or just donate the whole kit & kaboodle (need a good charity though). Need to decide before it becomes a yard ornament (more of a ...).

Busy week at work this week, plus still I need to figure out the grapple issue.

73 going to 93, but the weather folks like to say "over 100 heat index." We're at 3 weeks without real rain, so hoping for some in tomorrow's 60% forecast.

RNG, nice thinking on creating shade. Around here, people do that by planting trees on the south side, but I understand the fire danger there...plus trees take decades, and I bet you didn't want to wait.

Ed, isn't Cooter's over in Sperryville?

I'm not real familiar with most of Ted Nugent's music, but I know he played a lot of old stuff. He's 70 years old, but you'd never know it. Don, right across the Rappahannock River from the concert is a Del Webb senior community...I bet they could hear the music if they were outside.

LS, you're nice to want to help the neighbor lady, but I think you got great advice here.

I emptied the 3 pt sprayer tank of the last 15 gallons of mix...10 stored in leftover 2.5 gallon jugs, and 7 in my backpack sprayer by making 2 trips - sprayed more fence and hiked through the pines where the poison ivy is so thick. I also found a patch of English ivy...so no offense, Eric, but I sprayed that too...can be very damaging if it grows up trees. I don't know how it got there, maybe birds.

I try to be very careful not to spray any other plants or tree leaves. I actually hate to spray the poison ivy, since it is good cover for the birds, and the berries are great food for them, but I like to walk my forest, and don't want Coco running through getting poison on her. I'll easily use up the leftover 10 gallons before I've finished, but need to take a day off...I thought I'd pass out by the time I came in yesterday afternoon...heat exhaustion.

Wimbledon men’s final not as good as semis yesterday. First set not going well for South African

World Indoor championship use to be right here in Salisbury, all the characters came to town, Connors, McEnroe, Eli Nastase. World famous promoter Bill Riordon lived here and brought them all to our little town. Chris Evert, Martina, Billie Jean King, Rod Laver, Lendl, Borg, all cane to town.
Wife and I accidentally had ice cream with the Riordons one night at Friendly’s , nice people and they picked up the check!

74 going to a cooler 88 today, cloudy day
Finishing coffee, now to box a large quantities of veggies, will be at least a two box morning with all the tomatoes, don't want to pile
them too high and squish them. Then deliver to food pantry, trip to bank, then several stops and on my way home around lunch time.
Then I'll figure out what to do today.

For now, one more trip to garden, probably another twenty pounds of tomatoes ready, will be taking in close to fifty pounds.
My sauce came out nicely I must admit, a little acidic like I like it, and didn't get the okra cooked.

Don, never cooked/cut an okra in my life. I'm going to trim the ends, spray with canola, bread and bake.
If I get slimed, that stuff is not coming back into my kitchen.
For me, slime is only good in tires....
Just not a slime person. Don't do eels either.

Buppies, hope your morning was better, and all are recovering.
I'm sitting here itching from at least six fire ant bites from weeding yesterday, both arms too and I never saw them.

I picked three Tigger melons from Armenia. All had yellowed and looked ripe.
First one truly awful, inside like bread fruit, yuk. My success so far with first ripening melons has not been good.
Likely operator error but who knows.
I did get one good cantaloupe so far, now that was good, and I expect many dozens of them coming in. I put straw under about
twenty "babies" yesterday. And so far nothing has eaten them, always a good sign.
