My partner in the real estate part of our insurance/real estate business in my home town
absolutely adored lima beans. He would make a lima bean sandwich loaded with mayo and probably salt
and be in heaven.
I'm happy to steam them and just a little butter, salt and pepper will do. It's how I grew up eating them, so I know
that lima bean taste...wonder if these are any different.
Granted, lima beans could use a little boost in the flavor department.

Never ate a lima bean sandwich, but I've always been partial to them...
Ever try succotash, Drew? It's simple...corn and lima beans mixed. Succotash was a staple at our house when I was growing up.

You might want to try making a succotash...plenty of recipes available and I think you're growing all the fixings.

Drinking first cup of coffee. 68ー with cloudy skies this morning. Heading to 74ー with 100% chance of rain. No sure about that 100%. Radar shows rain area splitting up and going north and south of us. We may get a few sprinkle though. Did not make it to Menard's yesterday. First on list today then HF. PT this afternoon.

Drew, Lima beans are OK with me. But would rather eat good old Bush Beans. Not the ones in a can. Like the yellow ones breaded and cooked in a fry pan. Need to try them in the Air Fryer.

Eric, you can BBQ in any weather. Just need a umbrella to keep you dry when it rains.

Ed, hope your AC is fixed.

Prayers for all those in need.

Good Morning All.

The low this morning was 44*. It was in the mid 80's yesterday and mostly sunny. Today is going to be close to 90* with clear skies and a15-20 mph wind.

The nurses told my wife not to take more then 3000 mg of Tylenol a day to supplement the pain pills she was taking. She is down to about one pain pill and couple of Tylenol a day now. It just depends on what she dose during the day.

Didn't get any of the things done yesterday that I thought I would do. Hopefully I can get some of that done today.

Hope everyone has a nice hump day.
CWB.

Drew whatever you do with the limas do not add a meat product to “flavor” the beans. You will just add extra calories in the form of fat and artery clogging cholesterol to a healthy dish. There are plenty of spices and recipes to make them delicious.

David, still trying to get to loading my new 13 drawer tool chest. This evening there is a concert in the pavilion, so maybe tomorrow.

Are you going to label the drawers?

With my toolboxes

tool-chests.jpg

I tried tape w/ handwriting (Sometimes hard to read), magnetic write on (which fell off), and finally settled on 1/4 inch Brother P-touch labels.

Speeds up work for both my self and whenever someone comes to help. IF things are returned to the proper drawer.

I hear you. Unlike the locals I don't need to deep fry or dip my veggies in pork fat.
You can imagine the first reaction I got to these beans locally, oh yeah, in a pot with a ham hock....
yup

three hours and got the main mowing done, having trimmed it ahead of time which means one can go faster and not pay so much attention. Had to park under a tree for ten minutes when a shower went by, then got the job done. More showers expected, just a lot of moisture out there.

fuel tank in Kubota mower holds 16 gallons. Filled it up before starting and mowed for three hours and the gauge didn't budge off full.
Tank must be sized to run full out for ten hours commercially. Went over the mower carefully to grease it, dewalt grease gun sure makes it easier.

Good Morning!!!! 67F @ 7:00AM. Sunny. High 88F. Winds S at 10 to 15 mph.

Our winter out here was fairly dry, at least compared to the record breaking rain from the previous year, Ed. That kept the brush and grass from growing much, and the deer were actually keeping it trimmed pretty short. But when it warmed up and the days started getting longer toward spring, it started raining more and the brush started catching up. It kept on raining through the spring, and we had more growth than even the previous year. Now that it's all dry, there are more fuels on the ground than there have been in most years, and I think there have been more fires because of it. That and people doing foolish things like throwing lit cigarettes out the window of their vehicles, or using steel blade mowers on dry grass, or not replacing bad catalytic converters that throw red hot pellets out the tail pipe, or let their trailer chains drag and cause sparks. We've even had folks that think the burn bans were put in place for everyone else but them, and had fires get away and cause damage as a result. But worst of all, there have been several cases of arson. I can't understand how anyone would be motivated to cause the kind of hardship and heartbreak that results from having their home burned to the ground, but it happens regularly. Not all the sickos are caught, but when they are, they're sent to prison for a long, long time. In my mind, there's no punishment harsh enough for them.

I BBQ throughout the winter Eric, weather which is very comparable to the typical English summer :D:laughing: The modern propane fired grills with the rotating metal covers put out plenty of heat, enough to overcome even steady rain. Find one made from stainless steel, and it'll even stand up to London Fog.

I've always been afraid to use Tylenol because of its ability to damage the liver. Ibuprofen works as well with no such side effect, so why take the chance? But all NSAIDs can damage the stomach if not taken with food, and long term use can lead to GRD, so be careful with whatever you take, and talk to a doctor about the side effects so you understand them and take the proper precautions.

It's probably too late, Don, but if you line those drawers with the same foam mesh that is used under carpets to keep them from slipping on the floor, your tools will stay put when you open and close the drawers. I think the stuff I used came from McMaster.com...

Spent some time cleaning off the welding table yesterday in preparation for starting work on another big BMW dirt bike. This one is an R80 G/S, the original "adventure bike" that started the craze and probably kept BMW in the motorcycle market. It was made in 1981, the first year of production, and by the time it found its way to my garage it was in very bad condition. I've already reconditioned most of the parts, so all that remains is some polishing, a bit more cleaning, and put it all back together. I also repainted the frame, and masked over the VIN sticker, burying it under a thick coat of paint. Today I plan to use wet'n'dry sandpaper to uncover it, hopefully without screwing up the surrounding paint...

New suspension for the Honda is supposed to get here today as well, and hopefully I can get it installed tomorrow. Yesterday I opened up the little one gallon spare tank that rides on the rear fender to see what was inside. I tipped it up on the workbench and a large handful of rust colored dust came out. Shining a light down inside there showed lumps of dried up fuel and more rust, so I've ordered a kit with cleaners and a liner material, and will use it to clean both the spare and the main tank. Nothing screws up a carburetor quicker than junk in the fuel, so better to take care of it now than wait for trouble later...

Happy Hump Day everyone!

67°F and light rain this morning, going up to 90° today.

Traffic was sloooooowwwww this morning getting across the river into St. Louis, all because of a stalled car in the left lane where I-64/I-70/I-55 ("the three I-s") all converge in Illinois. Why they couldn't just push it to the shoulder and let traffic flow is beyond me. People. Saw a head-scratcher on the way home form work Monday evening. SUV had skidded across 4 lanes of I-70 in the city, crashed through a fence, rolled across the outer road, and came to rest on it's side against the front porch of a house. How fast must they have been going to get there? It still amazes me, even after all these years, how too many people seem to believe their car is a race car and they are a race car driver. Yet every day, several of them prove that belief drastically wrong. (shaking my head) People.

A little crabby today, apparently. :confused3:

Finally got the travel trailer out of the shop yesterday and parked next to house. We park it there to load and unload, end up leaving it there all summer when not out camping. We park it so the back door lines up with the laundry room porch so we can go in and out easy. We will get it cleaned up and loaded in the next week or so and then have a family camping (kids & spouses and grand kids). We usually have some cousins that come by for a day also while camping..

Wheel bearings packed, new grease seals. done
Battery water checked, terminals cleaned. done
Propane checked, leak check. done
Next up, dewinterize water system, check for leaks. Flush hot water heater, check to make sure it works.

Tylenol is potentially dangerous but so are NSAIDS like ibuprofen, and not just for stomach problems, but many forms taken long term can cause congestive heart failure, as relefan did to me in 2005. I was very healthy otherwise and was doing 45 minutes a day of strenuous aerobic exercise.

   / Good morning!!!! #78,056
I cannot take ibuprofen of any kind without stomach problems. But one 500 mg of acetaminophen does wonders for me. Always take with at least 8oz of water. Never take it for recovery of over indulgence of alcohol. Lost 2 neighbors from this.

Are you going to label the drawers?

I noticed two little end plugs for the handles in the package that mounts the push handle. Then I noticed that the end plugs come off and there is a white label with a plastic cover that slides out of each handle on each drawer. So yes I will be labeling them on the slide in handle labels.

I found white sweet potatoes at Whole Food in North Austin so now I can make my July 4th parfaits: Farmers' Market Parfaits - Plant-Based Vegan Recipe

Is the population of the island decreasing because of the long volcano eruption?

RS the 13 drawers on the tool chest all came with a liners, and I added the socket holders to two drawers. I have extra 1/4, 3/8 and 1/2 sockets and am missing some. Maybe I could trade with someone in the same situation to restore my complete set. Anyone else have extra and missing craftsman sockets?

Tools are out of the boxes and in the chest and I still have a few drawers empty. Some of the tools that I just grabbed, chunked in boxes, and dropped off at moms during the last day can now be retrieved. The last two days moving were hectic - Stuff kept multiplying and we had to get out. I felt like the troops evacuating Vietnam the last few days of the war - except no one was shooting at me.
