Ellicott City is about 15 or so miles SW of Baltimore...this isn't the first time there was flooding. In 1972, Hurricane Agnes really put the hurts to the city. The Patapsco River runs right abreast the main road there.
My father was supervisor of a state park (Patapsco State Park) at the time. I was in the Navy on either a Med or West Pac cruise.

Ellicott City, when I was growing up, was a rough tough redneck town....the proverbial white trash. It got "Yuppified" in the 70's and 80's
Also severe flooding 4-5 years ago.

Good evening all. 72F for the start, partly cloudy, calm wind. Wind picked up about 10 but stayed moderate, sky clouded up more during the afternoon, high temp 94F. Bike ride this morning, saw several friends out riding and joined them at different times. Mowed lawn but no trim and napped. Back to dog sitting for 2 weeks.
Ron those were some gnarly tines!
Drew, interesting find, I recall a V-8 conversion with a flat head Ford. If they don't address the small volume the hydraulic pump puts out, count me out :D
prayers for the families that lost loved one in our country's service and for you'all

Anyway...back to the grind...

This is the one day of the year that I'm always glad when it's over. It's partially the anxiety of needing the weather to hold and also the thought that it's always a long tiring day, even though my part is relatively easy. My skin will soon be as soft as a baby and I will probably sleep like a log tonight. The sheep shearers are coming.

56 and going to 75. Wind NNE 9 mph. Sunny. Mid 80s for tomorrow then more reasonable temps in the mid 70s for the rest of the week.

I'm going to cut the grass today and get that out of the way before the black flies wake up,
then a run to town.

I'm going back to bed. This is way too early for me when I don't have to be up.

Have a good day all
