Totally off subject here ---- where is a good place to get ammunition. The local shops here have no .380 ACP rounds except for reloads. I did a google search, but 3/4 of the sites have so much BS on them, I just move on....

Any good recommendations? --- where you have actually purchased from?
Like Buppies said, MidwayUSA usually had a good selection, fast processing, and occasional sales/free shipping, and good folks altogether. I have purchased many things from them, but not ammo...I get that locally. It looks like they have many choices for .380. Good luck!

Good Morning!!!! 77F @ 4:15AM. Sunny. High 106F. Winds S at 5 to 10 mph.
No relief from the 100F+ temps in the 10-day.

Once in a while I'll notice a brief pause in fetching a web page, but video streaming has been flawless with the Starlink setup. Hope it stays that way, as there are a large number complaining that their service has slowed way down in recent weeks.

I've heard ammoseek.com works well, Ted, but haven't used it myself.

The pressure switch is acting up on the well pump again, so I got another one on order, together with a replacement pipe nipple in bronze, and a new pressure gauge. The galvanized pipe it's mounted on now gets rusty inside, and the flakes screw up the switch. The gauge isn't reading at all, so it's probably plugged up, too. Amazon to the rescue.

Retorqued the head that had to come off for the last repair on the touring bike, and didn't have to readjust the valves. Peace of mind. Transferred gas out of the zebra and had some left over, which reminds me to get a start on a larger tank for the touring bike. Gonna get some temperature relief on the coast this weekend, and will get to see how the full fairing does in the heat.

Hump Day already...

After lunch went to BJ’s with my wife. After discovering that they apparently discontinued Coke products, specifically Diet Coke, we decided that we are going to give Costco a try, BJ’s selection seems to be slipping. What are your thoughts about the comparison?
We've been members of BJs, Sam's and Costco over the years, but stuck with Costco (Price Club) since 1986. All are similar, but Costco has been the best for the things we buy. Easy returns, which suits my wife's needs, and good store-branded items. We haven't seen the issues that RNG mentioned for what we buy at the Costco stores we use, but they have a couple of different store layouts, and do vary inventory a bit by what seems like demographics. Hope you find a store you like.

Ted: I had to look up what UMC meant, high spec or match grade ammo I guess.

For nearly 140 years, the Union Metallic Cartridge Company name has been synonymous with some of the finest ammunition made in the United States. Since its beginning in 1867, UMC has blazed a trail of innovation in cartridge-making excellence that continues to this day.

72 and sunny, going to 94...creeping up to almost Don territory by the weekend.

RNG, hope you get that pressure switch repaired. Do you have a pressure tank, too...that was the problem for us a while back.

Speaking of plumbing, I repaired the leak under the sink yesterday. I so rarely have to sweat copper pipe, that I feel like I am starting all over again each time...I went ahead and replaced the shut off valve while replacing the elbow, and didn't burn the house down while running the MAP gas under the sink for the final connection. I already had everything but the elbow, so it was about a $2 repair...but when I went under the house to shut off the water, found a different leak.

Buppies, my wife is doing much better, still on the meds, though. Thanks for asking. How's your wife doing?

Morning all, 75 going to 95, sunny, seems a bit warm.
Need to take the trimmer for a walk this afternoon, that should be enough in this heat to wear me out.

Used the grill on some steaks yesterday, potatoes, onions and broccoli roasted.

Next off to Lake Como. Start of the car trip, car picked up in Venice and 3.5 hour drive to Mennagio:

Ferries to move around the lake.

72° now dew point 67° High’s mid 90’s today. Hazy, hot and humid summer weather rest of the week.

Wind was steady @ 10+ mph yesterday so took the trimmer for a short walk then retreated to ac.

Drew- I have good luck with melon rind’s in trap (two “relocated” last week). To many houses to close now to randomly shoot at critters. Good luck with critter removal at cemetery they are destructive little buggers.

Not sure what today will bring, maybe a little more trimming.

Enjoy your day everyone

Good morning! 77˚F heading to 104˚ no clouds.

I need to head to the garden this morning and putter around on the tractor, always compost to work and weed buckets to haul.
I also check the drip irrigation - without it my garden would be toast in two days. I'm dripping twice a day for twenty minutes.

This afternoon will be reserved for cooking for our evening neighborhoods FIRST WFPB potluck - in the cool A/C activities building. Hope to get some good pics of the variety of foods.

curious question...do we allow China to sell ammo in the US? Some of the brands listed are way cheaper than others.

Dennis, here's what it looks like. After you put yours in, I could use a little coaching. I don't fool around with high voltage.
This looks like an inductance sensor of some sort, just wrap it around the right incoming main wire?

Good Morning
It’s already 80, dew point 70, so it will be a sticky one as the temps climb past 90. Yesterday was hot, but had a good breeze.

Yesterday I had a nice breakfast with a couple of friends, then came come and did some prep work for my cheese stuffed smoked burgers.
Ended up doing an AC service call for my buddy, he is swamped with this heat. Got home in time to fire up the smoker and cook the burgers, they came out pretty well. Had a couple of our kids and grandson over to test them along with a friend that used to own a BBQ restaurant and is still a judge for BBQ competition. I always bounce new ideas off of him.

They came out pretty good, next ones will be better.

Today I’ve got to do another service call, then I think we are going to try out Costco.

I got a chuckle out of Drew saying that he used to take captured groundhogs across the river and release them in NJ.

Reminded me of the question why does NJ have more toxic waste sites than PA, and why does PA have more lawyers?

NJ got first pick!

Ken, Europe is literally on fire now. Setting all time heat records. Only ten percent of England is air conditioned.
I wonder if Eric is really hot right now. Hope not.

so that's what I smelled that was so good last night. Breeze from the NorthWest...

site is double posting. They'll fix it.

77°F and clear skies this morning, going up to 99° today.

Drew, you might be surprised to learn that physical media is making a comeback, at least in the music industry. CD sales are steadily going back up, and there has been a resurgence of vinyl over the last couple of years. I think enough people are starting to understand that the fidelity loss with MP3s and streaming is substantial, and are turning back to better-sounding sources. Plus, you don't get to read the liner notes with downloads.

Crazy, huh Jim? In the '70s, some were screaming about the coming ice age from global cooling. Didn't happen. Then, they were screaming about global warming melting the polar ice caps and flooding all the coastal cities. Didn't happen. Lately, they've realized they have to be less specific and now just call it "climate change" to cover anything that happens. There have always been alarmists wearing breadboards crying "The End Is Nigh!" There always will be.

Ted, I've used AmmoSeek a few times with decent results. You're probably not going to find great value there (add shipping to any prices), but you will find what you need when you can't find it locally. I need some small pistol primers, and no one locally has had any for a long time, but I've found them on AmmoSeek ... pricey, but available. The Wife and I were in Cabela's over the weekend and were surprised to see so much ammo on their shelves. They had plenty of 9mm, .380ACP, and even .22LR. Prices weren't all that appealing, but not awful, and stock was plentiful.

Good morning, gents.

Good morning, gents.
I'm glad to hear that records and CD's are coming back. With my hearing the quality isn't really much of a deal,
but having a physical piece in my hand that I can play when I want to is.
Flipping through a stack of albums or CD's to pick what I want to listen too is much nicer to me then trying to find it on a thumb drive is.

Good morning to all! Low of 65°, going up to 93°. Chances of a T-storm.... probably on the horizon...

I hope CD's aren't going away..... I don't download any music, primarily because it's to hard for me to scroll on the phone (fat fingers and bad eyes).

Those ammo prices sure took a hike! Some are OK. No rush, we just want to do some practice plinking. It's been a few years, need to refresh the skills. The local range had some in stock, but were essentially double the price. I may wait until the local stores get some back in stock.

I think I am going to clean up the truck today, maybe the car too, if it doesn't get too hot..... I'll try to do the insides first.

Need to refill the bird feeders.... they plow through the seed at a crazy pace!

The truck cab rear seat got filled with donations, so need to go drop those off first at the Salvation Army drop off before I will be able to clean it....

Need to go to the store for a few items for our trip this weekend. Traveling light, so shouldn't need too much.

Well, that just blew the agenda..... can't put the cart up front before the horse.

Everyone have a great day!

friend just left, and I feel a little better, feeling stupid for not figuring out how to get parts together.
Well.....after the part in question fell apart four times in a row, I just smiled and we then figured out the proper sequence and it all went together just fine.
It was the hose strain relief strap that has a very unusual design. So took him half an hour to fix it, but we got it done.

then we changed plugs in the lawn mower, at 50 hours Kawasaki's plugs were surprisingly dirty, running E90.
They certainly could have gone back in but put the new ones in anyway.
Where is my JC Whitney spark plug cleaner?

Then we took a golf cart ride over to neighbor's to check out construction.
Had to keep moving to get some air.
We both decided that an afternoon in a/c made sense, but maybe we'd mow the lawn. Maybe not too.

I sent him home with a tomato and green pepper, his wife will like that.
Oh, we also picked some potatoes. Too small, need another week or two. but enough for a couple meals for me.
