Good morning!!!!

66°F and cloudy this morning, going up to 84° today. Expecting some potentially strong storms overnight tonight, but milder weather behind them. Got up to 87° here yesterday. "Normal" high for this time of year is about 72°.

The retaining wall contractor got slightly delayed yesterday by a late delivery of the wall stones. They were supposed to be there at 8:00am, but didn't arrive until almost noon. As compensation for the lost time, he stayed late and was still there when I got home at 5:30pm. They got a fair amount of the work done, but I think they may be up against the coming weather. Having dealt with water issues in the basement before the remodel, we are nervous about those basement walls being exposed during any rain event.

Eric, I certainly don't miss all the noise associated with living in the city. I lived in a city of about 40K people for my first 39 years. I do not miss that life at all. Quiet is good ... although my Tinnitus might beg to differ sometimes. :confused2:

The solution to your Tinnitus is right in your hands according to your avatar :)

Solution, or cause?

Both. It was cause then and solution now.
BTW, my lady just ordered me a Fender Venue amp. I am waiting for it to arrive. That 600 Watt box should be ample for my 50 ft2 music hide out. If I connect the bass output from the Fender to my Bose bass box, I should be able to rumble the top floor. :)

I tell my wife (and others) when I pass just scatter my ashes in the pet cemetery where I know I’ll be among friends Good morning!!!!- David
When it's bake & shake time for me I plan on rejoining my pack as you. I love the picture. Boxers rank highly in my list of favorite dogs. I really like that you and Sophie keep a "lineage" of dogs. As to dog training socialization we know of one place already and the owner of the kernel where we board our dogs had 5 St. B's- She has been a great resource in the past as well. We'll see what happens, but thank you for the suggestions- they have been helpful in my search direction.

Drew- Until he poses a serious threat to self/others by virtue of expressed speech or exhibited behaviors no "professional" able to serve involuntary commitment orders will do so. The Board of Health is probably the best option other than the pending outstanding charges for A&B. It could happen when the court officers serve the court papers. This neighbor reads like a real "piece of work" who really deserves a long stay in a "calm and soothing secure environment" with pastel puke colored walls that provides 3 hots and a cot and a decent amount of in-house entertainment by the other residents and "supportive" staff. Good luck.

Randy- It reads like you are mending pretty well. As previously posted the older we get the longer it takes to fully recover. Take care.

Good morning everyone. Walk #1 @ 6AM the temperature was in the low 40F's walk #2 @9AM the temperature has already risen into the low 70F's. Brogen seems unfazed by his recent ordeal. It's already too hot now to do anything, but I need to replant the rosemary plant and start putting the boundary garden rocks back in place so I can add more rocks later. This is a banner year for our rock crop. Tomorrow I plan to fire up the tractor and start moving wood and rocks. No hummingbirds yet, but I did see a red shouldered hawk flying into the woods carrying a pretty decent sized snake.

A boring day is planned. I hope that it stays that way.

My + thoughts, wishes, and prayers for all.

I hope everyone has a decent day.

Good Morning!!!! 55F @ 7:30AM. Sunny. High 76F. Winds WNW at 5 to 10 mph.

There's been a wren or two and some finches warbling around here this spring, Eric, something I don't recall from past years. The last house I lived in was located about a mile from two major freeways (M-roads), and all I heard there were singing truck tires. I'll take the peace and quiet here, anyday!

Hope your stone layers finish early, PJ. You don't need water problems in the basement!

Might be time for a call to Adult Protective Services, or your local equivalent, Drew. Unfortunately these days it's not uncommon for family to abandon their elders, especially when the elders behave badly toward them. There are often lots of support services available to older people that are having trouble making it on their own, and stronger medicine for those that have lost track of civility.

Sorry to hear your commute has gone down hill, Cajun. Same thing happened to me my last few years working. Just provided more incentive to figure out how to pull the plug.

The little Yamaha wasn't cooperating yesterday; it cranked vigerously but refused to start. That's when I noticed I'd left the fuel on, and what was in the bowl had that stale gas smell when I drained it. But no more would flow, and raping on the float bowl with a screwdriver handle failed to dislodge the float needle. That precipitated a wrestling match to get the carb turned far enough to get at the four tiny screws imprisoning it, whereupon the miscreant needle was revealed. It wouldn't move even with pliers, so the float pivot pin got driven out and the float's grip on the needle released with a small screwdriver. A tiny screw held a brass boss in place that surrounded the float needle, and after it was removed (and dropped and found again) the whole assembly came out. Still the needle couldn't be freed, so into the ultrasonic tank it went. After a few minutes I noticed smoke coming from the housing around the tank! Apparently an inch of water wan't enough to keep the transducers cool, but a full load was. Learn something every day. Fifteen minutes of sonic massage was enough to clean things up and get the needle working again, but trying to coax the carb back into the rubber intake manifolds proved fruitless, so that's on the agenda for today.

I had papers to get notarized for the land sale back in Ohio, so I stopped at a UPS Store on the way to the barber's. The gal would notarize one signature, then go off and service another customer, then come back and notarize another signature and go away again. There were five signatures that needed notarizing, and I was late for my barber appointment as a result. Neither the barber nor I were happy about that, but he was able to catch up so as to not keep the next guy waiting. I guess it helps that I only have a bit more than half a head of hair anymore.

Ran into the mechanic at the taco stand at lunch, and as expected the van's engine still wasn't running. More excuses, and no apologies. I can't wait to be done with this clown. The less said here about it the better, I think.

Happy Hump Day gang!

Good advise. And I agree about the "family dynamics." Adult Protective Services is an excellent program. I always enjoyed working with the local APS staff in this area. I doubt this neighbor would agree to their offered services nor let them in his house, but one can not predict behavior.

Now that light is coming up I have to go over to garden and see what my neighbor wrecked. He got his old JD started, and drove it over here and right over my new garden's soaker hoses, and what really concerns me is his snagging the electric fence lines, not to mention driving right through my newly seeded grass. The path he took was never meant for a larger tractor and
I sure pick up the soaker hoses before I drive a tractor over them. Had to scream at him over the tractor to back up and get off my property.
He can call me anytime. I'll go get him with the golf cart or UTV. Maybe he was just happy he got his tractor running, but you don't drive tractors with disc harrows on the rear over someone's septic system, which he repeatedly does. He has no common sense. Addled. So I'll take lots of deep breaths and go talk to him.
When he stopped bathing and washing his clothes I just couldn't take him any more and haven't seen him in several months.
He just had a court hearing for waiving a gun at someone in a drunken rage so de-escalation is always the goal.
<snip>
PLEASE be very careful -
waiving a gun at someone in a drunken rage
could be YOU next time.

TBN does NOT need a long thread on "Have you seen Drew?"

Lately I have to leave the house before 5 am to go to work. I don't get to hear the birds singing anymore :(

Retire.

Good morning to all! Low of 52 this morning, going up to 72. Overcast skies, 20% chance of showers. Wind supposed to kick up this afternoon to 40 mph. Cooler next two days, lows going down to 34-35, highs low 60's. No other chance of precip for the next 5 days.

The knee was doing real good, PT was progressing nicely, actually able to walk WallyWorld w/o difficulty on Sunday. Monday was ok. After eating dinner Monday evening, stood up and "pop". Kept me up all night, swollen twice normal by morning. Couldn't bear weight yesterday w/o support. Have an appointment w/ ortho doc on Friday. Seem a little better today....setback #1

Drew, be careful with the neighbor, could be very unpredictable situation.

Jay, glad to hear Brogen is no worse for the wear.

Going to cut it short today, everyone have a great day.
