Good morning!!!!

   / Good morning!!!! #75,441
Made it to the mid 80's today.

You guys have been busy. Took several days to catch up with my allotted reading time.

Drew. Sorry for garden troubles. When I plant open pollinated corn (which is what sweet corn or any heirloom variety is) I always plant double seeds. Then thin to singles. It helps eliminate the long blank spaces. Even if birds get in. Found a shotgun is a good deterrent for birds. Or propane cannons.

Weaned calves last week so now have a new daily chore. The bawling has stopped. I love feeding cattle. Just don't have deep enough pockets to do it large scale. Cattle feeding is a rich mans game. Learned that the hard way 10 years ago. I made dam good money in the spring. That fall I had to dig into my pockets to cover the losses. Lost more than I made that spring. Watched cattle fall over $40/cwt in less than a week. Tried to hold onto them as long as I could but the notes were due.

Finally got the covers installed on the chicken coop windows. Now its clean up the messes.

Good evening all. 70F this morning, trace of rain overnight, overcast and windy. Wind increase all day, overcast broke upstarting about 12PM, and high temp was 84F. Mens meeting this morning, followed by calling golf cart guy, followed by bike ride. after lunch the new to me 2014 gas Yamaha got dropped off. Finished selling my boat today, NOT my happiest day, not overwhelmed at replacement choices. BIL,SIL were supposed to stop in on way home but they decided not to as both of the are not feeling very good.

Prayers for all.

Ok. Let’s try this again. Tried to post in the tablet (android) can’t scroll through post or anything so back to phone (iPhone 6). Battery is shot and has to stay plugged in. Really kills productivity.

Started repairs on a tile I installed last summer. This winter it silted closed and just about washed out. Got it dig out and added that dirt to top. Now just need more. Stockpile is 2 pastures away and has cattle in each I don’t want mixed. May have to wait. Guess I’ll be adding a silt trap to that ditch.

Pasture has been fertilized and cows are off hay and grazing. Hay fields still need fertilizer. Waiting on chicken litter spreader. May just go buy fertilizer. We’ll see about weather next week.

Next week is also when new gas pack is scheduled for install. Which means concrete work. All weather dependent.

Nice shed pj and house project.

Good to hear everyone is healing if slow. Take it easy guys.

Good morning! 68 and cloudy. 9th cobbler almost gone. I need to pick more berries before there will be a 10th.

I picked 1.5 gallons last Thursday, and another 3 quarts today. My fingers are purple. Many of the berries are at their ripest stage, some are already getting wilted. Needed some rain on them last week.
Only had 1 cobbler so far. My grandmother made the best seedless jam or jelly from them. They taste better than the blackberries you buy at the store IMO.

Drew, be careful. The authorities will not come take him somewhere and give him 3 hots and a cot unless he breaks the law bad enough to go to jail. That is about the only way they can do anything to him unfortunately. Always re-active instead of proactive. The authorities don't have or don't like to spend money on crazy people. That's why we see so many in the streets homeless. I have a suspicion he is one of the major reasons the previous owners moved. If I knew that he had waved guns around at people, I would call the law at any/every mis-step and wouldn't go outside unarmed. If I knew he had a rifle, I would, well, I don't know what exactly I'd do, but most of my awake thoughts would be concerning it. Hopefully there aren't children around.

BEF, sorry about your friend.

All you guys take it easy.

Nice cart Mostly. One of the best bosses I ever had lives in Muenster and his family runs the German food booth at the fair. Great guy and great family guy.

You are the one of the busiest guys I know. Fertilizer is expensive if you have to buy it, but if you go to Friendly Politics, it is pretty cheap. :)

Hope you get your projects done.

I hate posting from a tablet or phone. Give me a real keyboard and a mouse. So I can type words like chicken coupé.

PJS, I "heard" that Huey Lewis had to cancel his tour because he can't hear. Be careful with your hearing. So far I'm fortunate (hearing wise) after going to all those Judas Priest and AC/DC concerts...Oops did I just say that??? :) Hope your project goes well too. My wife told me our little chickens are using the ramp I made to go up and down into the coupé. They are about the size of a quail right now.

Yeah fertilizer is expensive but cheaper than buying hay. I don't have the equipment to handle what I produce yet. It'll come.

Went back to tablet. Now I remember why I only use this thing for utube.

My birds are 3 weeks old and about the same size as your Kyle. They are in their ugly/naked phase. Phase between full feathers and down.

Good morning all. It looks like I have returned home at just the right time. The professional weather guessers are confident this will be our last cool day for a while and with predictions of several dry days to come I should get on with more brickwork.

With this being classed as a "historic" building, I have a planning condition that prohibits me from using power tools to cut out old mortar before repointing. In most places the mortar is missing anyway, so it's no real hardship to cut back odd places with a hammer and chisel, it's only the places where someone had a go at patching it up with cement instead of lime that it gets tricky to take out without damaging brickwork. I doubt the woodpeckers will be jealous at hearing the painfully slow rate of my hammer blows.

Haweye, good progress with the shed. In this country I suppose you could call the entrance to a male public toilet a "man door", but wouldn't expect that in a private building. Why will you only let your daughter in through the garage door ? :D

PJ, the one thing I don't like about hydro static tractors is that the transmission whine sounds like an amplified version of my tinnitus. I suspect my early rifle shooting days without ear defenders may be the biggest cause. Whenever tinnitus gets us both down, at least we can think back to some of the good times we had while our ears were getting wrecked.

Eric that is really a stupid rule. What's next, you need to use a club and adze on your wood beams?

I grew up in an old colonial area, our home was 1720, and the preservationist/historic groups were a mixed bag. No one wants you to paint your house Bermuda Pink in the historic district. No one wants you to use non fire proof shingles in California. But to legislate how you get the mortar off your house to make it better, even more authentic. Dumb. I can hear some hear hears in Parliament...
Our local groups even prescribed the type of mortar used. I can only call the results innies or outies, does the mortar go in or stand out a little.
That too has a rule. This was a huge issue in getting our ancient church building repointed, plus we were almost told you need to put slate back on your roof. Which we did. Slate came from India interestingly. Apparently the Vermont stuff was much more expensive (you'd think shipping would eat that up...)and the slate from India was half again thicker for the same price.

Folks with strong sense of personal freedom should not move into historical districts. Very aggravating unless you are really into it.

61 degrees going up to high 80's today, sweat band day. I got through the night without a mandatory cramp relieving trip to the hot tub, drank extra water, though I haven't been sweating all that much. Today I will...

59, going back to about 90 today.
Still not sleeping well but maybe soon.

Got a lot of flowers out yesterday and too much sun.

I took the Monte Carlo for a ride to test the ac and cooling performance before next months run to Carlisle for the GM show. Worked like a new one!

Ellen is working from here today, she’s bringing Gracie the bulldog, my cat Buddy and she are becoming the best buds. I have to go to the grocery store myself.
Leftover crud plus heat and pollen are really bothering me this year, I usually don’t even notice.

Well guys, I hope you all have great days and may God bless you all. I’m hitting the shower to see if I can shake off this 4 hour nap I’ve had.

40 and going to a high of 55. Wind SSW 5 mph. 40% chance of drizzle/rain.

I've got a dump run today AND pick up some more black earth for the gardens. the earth that is in the gardens will be coming out and used to top dress the lawn. I should get a couple of bales of peat moss while I am at it.

That is my day all mapped out.

have a good day all

Second cup of coffee has been poured. 61° with rain this morning. Heading to 73° with more rain all day. .61" of rain overnight. Thunderstorms started coming thru about 11 pm last night. I think I got about 2 hours of sleep last night. We needed the rain that came with it. Grass will start growing. Mower has been ready for a month. No plans for the day. Maybe a trip to Menards and HF for something I do not need.
Glad to see everyone is getting better.
Prayers for all those in need.
Good Morning All.

54 going to 92...which will be a record if it gets that high...got to 91 yesterday.

Nice cart, mostly.

Randy, I'm sure a ride in the MC helps make you feel better.

Rick, how's the 1211 doing? I stopped by the dealer yesterday after going to the gym...literally climbed up on one...it's a monster, but what a comfy seat and solid machine. Also looked at the ZD1021, 1011, and gas 726...all nice machines and twice the cost of my first pickup truck. Didn't have time to take a test mow, but did get some discounted prices and brochures.

Early haircut, then gym again and then home to help my wife plant the garden. I gave it it's final till last evening.

I just crossed 15 hours on the ZD1211 yesterday. So far, I’m very happy with it. I’ve ordered a set of Oregon Gator mulching blades for it. That should improve the cut even more.

I created a new thread about it here if you’re interested.
