46 now, 60s later, rain moving in later as well.
Did too much yesterday, mowed two lawns, one with a little Sears tractor mower. those Superman pills (steroids) had me thinking I was better than I was. Miserable night lying in semi fetal position on my left side, suffocation feeling on the right so no changing position. No work today period.

Prayers guys, have a good day.

Randy, REST !!!

Also Drew, the V means V8, could be 265 or 283.

gotcha, had a 265 in a 1956 Chevy wagon, my oldest brother's car, man that thing was tough,
Powerglide and 265, not much power but sure sounded better than the six, and 283 was a late option in 1957 from poor memory.
I think they bored the 283's out to 301 (long time ago...) and my next older brother's best friend had a gorgeous 57 Belair coupe, red and white,
4 speed on floor, and I'm guessing about 325hp from a bored motor. And zero sound insulation. What a noise and when he powershifted the whole front of the car jumped up.

And who can forget those rubber cone shaped bumper extensions, that had a wonderful name back then one can't use any more, but part of a lady's anatomy comes to mind.
No more cone shaped extensions...:D

Toppop, good day to chill and feel better. Hope you breathe better soon.

26 and going to 54 F. Wind S 2 mph. 40% chance of showers.

A trip to the hardware store is the only thing on my 'to do' list for today.

Have a good day all

Good Morning!!!! 58F @ 4:45AM. Partly cloudy. High near 80F. ENE winds shifting to SSW at 10 to 15 mph.

Showers due in over the weekend, but hardly any accumulation.

Hope the steak was to her liking, Jay. All things in moderation, just don't miss any of 'em!

Hope you feel better soon, Randy.

Still sorting through the refrigerator and freezer, tossing out stuff brought in over the weekend, repackaging and freezing some leftovers, and eating some junk food I should have also thrown out.

Scheduled an ebay auction for the old k-bike, with a higher starting bid and shorter deposit and full payment deadlines. Put up a video of it starting and running on Youtube, and linked it into the ad copy. Also put in more buyer restrictions, hopefully enough to weed out the deadbeats. :confused2:

Will start in replacing tires on neighbors flatbed trailer today. Sure hope the beads seat without using starting fluid. Got away with it once without mishap, having to do it four more times is just asking for trouble. Now where did I put those new tires?:confused2: Oh yeah, out in the big box trailer...

1957...might be a '56, but if I was a betting man, I'd go with '57

Good morning all. Haven't been here in a while. Been busier than a bee. Lots of home remodeling projects going on at the moment.
Here are some of them:
1) House exterior painting: Paint cost $1500. Contractor quote: $14K. Told him to take a hike.
2) Vinyl siding repair: Material cost $400. Contractors' quotes: $17K/16K. Told them to hit the road.
3) Front door relocation: Material cost $1200. Contractors' quotes: $10K/11K. Told them to get off my land.

For some reasons, I'm getting outlandish quotes where labor costs far far exceed material costs. My rule of thumb for home construction projects used to be 400% mark up from material e.g. $200 material cost will be $800 labor for a total of $1000. Am I out of touch?

Weather is nice down in Cajun land this week. Too bad I don't have time to go fishing.

Well, I’m going to add a caveat, it has some Bel Air trim which can be added but I believe it’s a 210 with gold inserts added in the fenders in place of chrome on 210.

Also Drew, the V means V8, could be 265 or 283.

If I recall the chrome V, on the hood, was the 265 c.i. V8 and gold V designated the 283 c.i. V8. No V was the inline 6.

The 210 had stamped indentations, on the front fenders, while the Bellaire had gold inserts.

Not mine but, same model and color I owned in early 1960’s.

makes sense, they already had the chrome one being used for the smaller engine, wonder if this was one of the first uses of gold on production cars to promote "first class"?...
They had the best fuel fillers, the 56 was inside the turn signal, others put them under the license plate, before safety regs they used to put them all over the place.
We had a 59 silver Biscayne wagon, I think that had something odd for the fuel filler too. I think Cadillac hid a few in strange spots too. We were entering the Jet Age and everyone was going to blast to the Moon in their new Biscayne. All I went to is soccer practice...

Heavy rains coming in, got a bit wet checking on the garden, but it was worth it. I was worried about my end of the row dam I had built, but not to worry,
Mother Nature had created a solution. Self draining, all good, water headed down to end of furrow where it goes into deep trench into main drainage canal for area.
One reason I am concerned over how much fertilizer I use.

Some critter is messing with my corn and it looks like birds. I know crows do this, but what about gulls? They are picking the seed and root out of the ground and dropping it, so it dries out and dies. Why? what are they eating? The nasty red stuff is still on the seed kernel, maybe they peck until they taste that, but unfortunately they are really slow to learn because looks like they dug up dozens of corn kernels. It's a jungle out there.

55°F and cloudy this morning, going up to 71° today.

Happy (belated?) Birthday to Mrs. Jay.

Picked up some lumber and chicken wire over the weekend to build a run extension for the chicken coop. Wife wants to give them a little more room when they're on the ground. When I suggested we just eat some of them to make room, she gave me "that look." :confused3:

Bill, Buppies, Ted, Ed, Drew, wngsprd, Ron, RNG, and PJS and anyone that I have missed. I thank you all for the birthday wishes on her behalf and will pass it on the the "Birthday Girl." In a way the "last supper" too. I forgot in an earlier post to add that we will be transitioning away from all processed meats, fatty/high cholesterol meats in this anti-inflammationary food diet attempt. We actually are already pretty good about cooking oils, sugar, white bread, processed junk foods, etc. The real challenge is dairy products like butter, yogurt, and especially cheese. I stopped eating hotdogs for breakfast a couple of months ago. Eliminating "red meat" from our diet forces us to focus on cooking healthier foods and better meal planning. My blood sugars are higher than I anticipated (+140). The test strips expired 6 years ago. My testing was after walking and coffee which will inflate the #'s. I post all this here because that makes me own it and I feel that you all are straight shooters; have had or have similar medical challenges, and will freely give me feedback about my "incorrect" logic and/or if I am posting from where the sun does not shine.

My wife has walked the lower field more times this week than she had the previous year due to feeling better.

An above freezing morning with with mostly sun and increasing cloudiness. The crocuses under our pear tree are starting to bloom = weeding and rock moving; lot's of rock moving is in my future. We got a good crop of rocks this year.

Randy- Are you sure that it is just bronchitis? It reads more like pneumonia. Please take care of yourself.

BEF- I like your pallet drag. I think I may copy your design to smooth out my trench. I used to have an old car hood that I used as a stone boat when had my Ford 1100.

Rick- Nice cars attract junkers. I do not know why? They must be magnetically attracted. My Tundra has all kinds of nicks, scratches, and dingers. I am only responsible for 2. I watched some guy in a Ford 250 extended cab with a tow hitch hanging off the back backing into my truck, I tried to wave him down to stop, he did not, he hit my truck, and gave me a single finger salute as he sped off= I now take as many parking spots as possible.

Eric- That goat sitting in that vehicle is much better behaved that my St. B. and does not drool as much. Thanks for sharing.

Drew- As far as I am concerned if a gull can grab something with its's beak it will be eaten. Geese and ducks will pull up sprouts. I hope you catch the culprits.

My + thoughts, wishes, and prayers.

I hope you all have a decent day today.

Quote:" LS, will that fencing be round posts and half-round rails, or do you prefer the look of rectangular posts and rails ? Unless you are in stone free ground, 500' is going to keep you busy for quite a while."

We were originally going to go with split rail (I have about 38 - 8' sections, used), but wifey now wants 3' picket for the perimeter (about 280') of the front yard, then about 180' of 6' high privacy picket to enclose a "small back yard"... She is envisioning a zen type area there... This now didn't include the area were I will park 3 trailers, which I want to be fenced. That will probably just be posts and welded wire fencing, but still about an additional 150'. Still have about another 2 acres that won't have any fencing....yet.

Ted you could use one of these. They used this rig to screw 7' auger foundation posts when they were prepping the solar panel site. Every time I dig a hole down there I hit rocks. They drove 10 augers and found 2. The mini ex that dug the 200' trench hit and removed around 6 rocks.

Good luck with the fencing. I look forward to some pictures of the project. Pleas take care of your knee.

Good morning to all! Got up to 80 yesterday....too warm too fast, some trees still haven't budded out. Still no rain, but the weather guessers stated yesterday that we may actually get a monsoon season this year according to some long range forecast.... Heard that before...wishful thinking.

Anyway, been getting around, the walking yesterday taking the measurements for the fencing, reminded me about the knee surgery. Knee woke me up a few times last night. Taking it much easier today.

Randy... You should do the same...take it easy, rest, and get better. Believe me, I know it's hard to do!

RNG, good luck on the sale of the bike...hopefully this time...

Prayers out for everyone, have a great day!

I could use one of those!!:D I started another post in owning/operating about my 3 point PHD. First time I tried it, screwed itself right into the ground up to the gearbox....not real fun:shocked:

I have a little 1 man auger that would take like 3 hours to drill a 4" hole just 24" deep. I think I just need to learn the curve of the big one.

   / Good morning!!!! #74,978
Ted- I wanted a 3 point PHD, but realized that it would probably end up as a lawn ornament buried in the ground somewhere.

I am curious about your project and the Zen type area. This place was originally designed and owned by a Japanese person, and had a plaster Buddha when we bought it. Our Doberman broke it. Bad things happened to her :(.

I have a serious need for some kind of dog fence and real landscaping by a professional. All I do is move rocks around in make "creative piles." :embarrassed:

JB, it acts like pneumonia too, I’ve had several times. I don’t feel really bad but they got me full of steroids. If I’m not improving a lot later today I’m calling someone.
