Good morning!!!!

It was 17* this morning, yesterday was a mix with sun and snow showers, the high was in the low 40's. Today will be mostly sunny and in the high 40's with the wind 10-15.

Going up this morning to help the neighbor load some tires and rims in his pickup. And go with him to have them changed out in town. He is still on light duty from his back surgery. This will probably take most of the day.

Hope everyone gets a good start to the weekend.
CWB.

...Family and friends were in a different exchange, so now I just answer the phone and disconnect promptly. Hopefully slows someone down a few seconds.

Answering the phone, even if it's hung up immediately, just registers with the caller's software that the called number is active and should remain on the list of numbers to be called again. Far better is to not answer at all, then block the number using the software on your smartphone. You'll never get a call from that number again. But since the SPAMers aren't actually calling from that number, you'll still get more calls from them until enough of their calls go unanswered that they take the number off their lists. It's actually illegal for SPAMers to call cell phone numbers, but there's almost ZERO chance of them getting caught. The only deterrent is not to answer. Let calls from unknown callers go to voicemail so you can return legitimate calls, and whitelist people in your contacts list so CallerID will let you know when it's safe to answer.

We are removed from their list

Nope. I suspect just the opposite. Now they know that the number is active, and that the person on the other end will answer it. They'll not only change their spiel and try again, they'll make sure your number gets passed around to all their scammer friends so they can have a go at you, too. Whitelist the people in your contacts so CallerID will let you know when those you know call. Let unknown callers go to voicemail. Block the callers that don't leave messages, and the scammers that do.

Dad had a box on his home phone line that when he answered the phone it emitted a tone that the phone company uses when line has been disconnected. It took a few months but his spam calls dropped to almost none. I don't know if something like that is available for cells or not, I use Hiya app on my phone... seems to help some, but as Drew said above, the spammers are spoofing numbers they think are local. I got a call from a lady one day that wanted to know why I kept calling her (I had never called her). She was getting spam calls showing my number. I've stopped answering calls that I don't recognize. If someone really wants me, leave a message and I can call back if I want.

39°F and light sprinkles this morning, going up to 48° today.

Been a hectic week in PJS-land. Friday is most welcome. Looking forward to a couple of days away from work.

RNG, nice to see you have established an end plan with your "mechanic." Your patience through all that has been the stuff of legend.

64 degrees early this morning, going for a high of 84. Dallas TV weatherman thinks they might break the record of 88 today. And in about an hour my wife and I both have appointments for eye exams to see if we need new glasses or not. I got new ones a year ago, but she didn't need new ones last year.

They don't care about Do Not Call lists, so I'm going to check out another layer of defense as noted before.
Some times I pick up to be sure, and never ever has it been anything but credit card nonsense. I have an unused BOA cc I need to cancel, which I think is causing the problem.
You can block callers on your cell phone. Go to recent calls. Press on the blue I in circle on right side of number you want to block. Pull the screen up until last item shows up. It should be Block This Caller. Tap on it. Up will pop a screen that says Block Contact. Tap on it. Contact is now blocked. You can reverse by tapping on UnBlock contact.
