I reset both of our cars (Fords) yesterday. They are very different, and either one is simple after I get the manual out and read the instructions. And I always forget how to do it until I look in the book.

A few years ago I made a copy of the page in the owner's manual that described the clock setting procedure and now keep that in the glove box with the rest of the paperwork. Once I find it amongst all the other junk in there, setting the clock is easy.

Good morning! North wind 67˚.

After 5 attempts I finally figured out the right sequence for reseting the Subaru clock off the menu. I see they have a Daylight Saving's Time on/off, so I turned it on and it went back an hour instead of forward an hour. So I ended up hitting the date paddle twice and scroll with the arrow paddles to, to. . . . oh, man already forgot.

I like changing time on my truck better, just hit the hour button one time.

Today is day one of Prolon. I'm impressed with the meals and documentation. They had a nifty little support e-mail:

"If it is important to you, you will find a way.
If it is not, you will find an excuse."

I changed the time on the new subaru, then discovered the daylight savings on/off setting.

This pending weather system really surprised me as to tracking. The NWS issued a Winter Storm Watch for this area. The most recent snow prediction has 9" for me 13" for MA Phil. Very interesting and tight rain/snow line possibly setting up.

38°F and cloudy skies this morning. Temps dropped to 34° when the precipitation started around 11:00. The light mist turned quickly to snow, and we have about an inch now. It's supposed to warm a bit this afternoon and turn back to rain, which will probably wash away any remaining accumulation.

We typically keep the house between 68-70° during winter months ... depending, of course, on what mood The Wife is in that day.

I'm not liking the weather report any better than New England, have 8+++hours of driving in heavy rain tomorrow.
Going to leave early and try to get there when I get there, set the cruise and be patient.
Had a great day today visiting with friends at church, then my MIL, who as always is sending me home with oatmeal raisin cookies, and now watching my sister cook dinner. Going to sit by the fire and just yak.

I don't think it matter if it's on or off. It will still be the wrong time. Also whatever you do do not go by the owner's manual - the directions are for another vehicle. ??? None of the menu screens match my Subaru's.

I thought that you are not suppose to set the cruise control when it's raining?

"This (when it's raining) is where cruise control presents a problem. Cruise control will want to keep your vehicle going at a constant speed and speed only adds to the problem. Cruise control is disabled when you step on the brakes but that is exactly what you don’t want to do in a skidding situation unless your car is equipped with anti-lock brakes. The safest thing to do when it starts to rain is to disengage the cruise control and lower your speed. Driving in the rain really requires heightened awareness and that seat-of-the-pants feel for the car. Save your cruise control for fair weather."

Drew- It reads like you had a good time with family. The modeled maps look bad for you with the predicted heavy rain and wind too. Traveling in heavy rain and wind is not fun. This will become another nasty, bombing NE coastal storm causing all kinds of havoc as it tracks up the CONUS coast. Take care on the roads.

Don- Does freezing Brazilian nuts affect its + effects?

I never really traveled roads that allowed for cruise control and never got into the habit of using it.

My outback with top of the line Michelins (not what came on it for sure) grips like a leech. I have intentionally tried to make it
loose grip and it hasn't. Have driven it on glare ice and through heavy rain. The car has far more capability than I, the driver is the limiting factor. I've driven big trucks and firetrucks, know enough not to drive faster than sight distance and in heavy rain that may not be far.
I have never minded driving in bad weather, you grow up in the country in the snow belt and drive firetrucks and knowing your limits is critical.
Life is all about grip...in that case, not losing's one grip... And avoiding others that do. That's the scary part.

Don is right, in heavy windy rain I'd never have cruise on. But otherwise, I'm usually one of the slower vehicles and I have adaptive cruise so I'm not going to drive into the back of anyone. Although....Subaru's Eyesight camera system is pretty feeble in heavier rain, cuts out, six different warning lights go on dash, you no longer have this this and this safety system on, etc,

If I have my wipers on intermittent, I'm liable to be on cruise. If they go on full speed I'm absolutely not going to. In the middle, a judgement call. Haven't lost control of a car in 50 years of driving, hope to not start tomorrow. Appreciate all friendly concern, I'm a retired insurance guy and I try not to take excessive risk. But my 22 trays of seedlings haven't been watered in three days and I'm headed home. The only question is how many extra hours. And please please don't have a major wreck on Rt 95. My sister just found a travel mug for coffee in the morning.
And a monstrous organic blueberry muffin to take with me. Life is good.

Slept in late, went out to TSC and a couple other errands. Really nice day, cold, but really sunny.
Really like the Steve Jobs interview.

My daughter says the liquid fertilizer we put on the garden plants has kicked them into overdrive.

Y'all stay warm up there. we are back into temperate temps now.

Palm to forehead?
Bring up the menu, time is at the bottom of list, so go to it, change it. Then to exit menu, you have to scroll down further, which revealed the DST option. Duhhh. I did change time back, then put it on dst, hopefully in the fall i will remember.

I rarely use cruise.

Drove it after dark for first time (i picked it up this morning), wasnt prepared for the all red interior lights. They didnt fill the gas tank, so will go back for a fillup.

Good evening guys. Mom is back on oxygen this afternoon and feels better with it. She was panting pretty hard with out it. Hope she is able to make it to the Dr tomorrow. They are now calling for less than 3.5 in here. Have a safe trip Drew. Have not even thought about changing the clocks yet, they are what they are, for now. Have a great night Ed
