Don, Do you need to eat the selenium bombs all at once? Or can you do once a week for a cumulative effect? Only raw counts?

I don't know the study did not cover that.

AC is on here also, come back winter!

Brazil nuts, so those are the ones called ...... toes.
I guess I am not dead, then. My Grandfather used to tell me that I would learn something new every day and if I didn't then I might be dead.

I brought both game cameras into the house and set them up. Now I will see what the cats get up to while we are sleeping.

Maybe, but I'm 68 now...seems to still be OK.
We do turn it up a few degrees (65-66) on those cold damp days though.

We had a stretch before Christmas where the early morning (0330-0500) temperatures were well below zero (couple of those days were minus 25 or so). Those were tough...but a week or so back, I was at a hotel in Hartford CT...stepped outside at 0630 or so wearing a tee shirt and jeans (smoking a cigarette)...talking to a guy from Georgia (also smoking) bundled up. I guess the temperature was in the low 30's. It all depends what one is used to.

I was visiting my parents in Florida a few years ago, my dad and I went to a car show about 3 hours away. We stoped for breakfast at a diner on the way, it was in the low 60痴. In the diner, most everyone had winter coats on. We had t shirts on. One old guy announced that the polar bears had arrived!!!

When our kids were young we used to go to Sanibel Island, Florida every winter for a week or two. Me and wife would lay on more or less deserted beach in swimsuits, the kids were playing in the ocean while local had parkas, gloves and hats. Somebody alway said: "You must be from Canada".

One of the selling points around here is energy usage.
Keeping the temp bills real low (cool in the winter, warm in the summer) can make a well insulated house appear super insulated.

I've been known to wear a cap when it's down in the mid 50's.

I like sitting around in my LL Bean flannel shirts in the winter.
The thermometer right above the mantel is showing a toasty 64F.

Just checked our thermometer, 61° outside, 65° inside. I’m in my winter robe and wearing socks. Wife put a second blanket on the bed.
I need to fix the fireplace.

I opted for a 10 oz. package, as they tend to go rancid if not kept cold. Mine'll be in refrigerator, unless I can find somewhere that it's OK to put them in the freezer.

It'll be interesting to see how many nuts come in that 10 oz. bag. Could easily amount to a full year supply!

I ate 2 last night, along with some other nuts from the Costco mixed nuts container...I agree, by the time we get near the bottom of the plastic container, the brazil nuts are rancid while the others are okay.

35 going to 49. Up to 3 inches snow tonight/tomorrow is now the prediction.

Took it easy yesterday, just loaded a half pallet of firewood, and took Coco for a hike back in the woods for a couple of miles. Need to run to town for gas for the splitter, and time in the gym today.

DST is fine with me, they just need to keep it there.

Enjoy 311 day.

30 right now...high in the mid-30's today.

No plans...maybe catch up on some TV shows I recorded on DVR.

I see more snow coming in next week...up to 8" between Tuesday and Wednesday, if the predictions hold true.

Poured first cup of coffee. 11° with clear skies this morning. Heading to 37° with mostly sunny skies. No plans for today. Except watch NASCAR in afternoon. Snow is doing a slow retreat. Hope it's gone for the winter after warm up later this week.

Irv, hang in there. Spring will be here in few days. But will mother nature cooperate?

David S, early this winter 65° inside the house would be good for me. But after the below 0° we had this winter my body cannot take temperatures below 68° in the house when I am resting. I clicked no the link in your Signature. It does not work. :confused3:

Daylight Savings Time has started. Got 3/4's of the clocks changed. Surprised my Lacrosse WS does not do it automatically.

Adding some Brazil nuts to my collection of snacks nut sounds like a good idea.

Prayers ED's mom and wife. Same for Karen and Eddie.

Prayers for all others in need.
Good Morning All.

Good morning all, 31 this morning going to 45 with a winter storm warning starting tonight until 2:00 pm tomorrow. NWS says we could get up to 6.5 in. Sounds like we might get the first real snow of the season. Just hope to take it easy today. We (wife) keep the heat dancing all day, up and down, up and down. Never gets below 72 in the kitchen, den where we live when we are up. Much cooler in the bedrooms. We have friends in Pa that pride themselves on not turning the heat on until January. That would not work for me.

Prayers sent for those in need. Ed

19 and going to a high of 28. Wind N 7 mph. 30% chance of flurries.

Re; DST, I would prefer to keep Standard Time all the time, just like the railroads.

We keep the thermostat set at 65 F and the wood stoves bring the temps up. If it gets too hot upstairs, then we open a window or two.
Since I redid the bathroom, it is the warmest room in the house. It is also the second farthest from the furnace. I think it might have something to do with the 8" of R22 Roxul insulation in the ceiling as well as the 6" in the exterior wall on top of the 8" logs. I also made the room smaller by adding 4" to the 2x4 studs and adding 8" to them as well. The interior walls here are not 'load bearing' walls. It is post and beam construction with vertical log exterior walls.

I might as well clean up the snow from the other day, today. I don't want to get down through the icey base I have so diligently built up over the winter just in case we do get a big snow between now and spring.

Have a safe Sunday all

good morning all. Looking down on Carnegie Lake in Princeton NJ, first scullers should be out soon, probably Princeton U. team, in the cold being followed by the coach boat. Wump wump wump wump wump as the oars hit the water hard.

My sister loved the comments on the cold and told me she had even hiked the thermostat up to 70...I told her to turn it down, her husband is sweltering.

off to Quaker Meeting this morning, then lunch with MIL, meeting friends and then back home here for a birthday dinner. 68 on Tuesday, a lot of us are the same age. If I eat four brazil nuts a month, will it take off twenty years?.....

Guys with Brazil nuts, all you gotta do is put them in a Zip Loc bag and freeze em. Take out what you want an hour or so ahead. They will keep for years.

Good morning, looks like we get a bit of rain and snow after all. It is March.
23 again this morning.

Great car guys breakfast and reacquainted with a lady I’ve known for years. Lost her husband a couple of yearly ago. We talked last night, scheduled a possible get together today. We shall see. She is a car/tractor gal.
