But that meant those purchasing used who intended the keep a vehicle well past the 100,000 mile mark had a much smaller pool of vehicles to choose from, as far fewer owners insisted on sticking with the old change intervals that would reduce the high wear and sludge accumulation resulting from extend oil and filter change intervals.:2cents:

Don't see any harm in changing oil before manufacturers recommendations in the hope it will help get more miles out of an engine. In this country other things tend to kill cars before a normally serviced engine dies, plus we tend not to do such big mileage - the sea is too close :)

I would think that when purchasing a used vehicle the biggest factor would be how the previous owner drove it.

Good morning, -3C/26F overnight and expected to stay around freezing all day, so a fair chance of moving hay without getting covered in mud today. :dance1:

Good morning all, 26 now going to 45 and partly sunny. Wintery mix tonight and Wed. morning then rain. Got my new gouge in the mail yesterday so I piddled in the shop making the bowl of the spoon I started last week. It worked well and was sharp out of the box. Hope to get more done soon but need to take mom to get lab work today and then her Dr is coming this afternoon. Felt a little better yesterday afternoon, thanks for the prayers.

Randy, I got one of those spouts from TSC and put it on a diesel can, worked well.

Prayers for everyone, Ed

27 headed up to 61 today, two nice days, tomorrow I see 71? And daffodils are up six inches here too.
Have to waste the entire morning at a doc's appt mid morning next town over. A nothing follow up, and I'd rather be outside.
Going to make coming home and starting up that Super A after lunch all more fun. It finally showed up along with my rototiller yesterday afternoon, and I parked it in mud under the rv carport. I really have to get some gravel put under there, natural drainage of land seems to bring water there. So this summer when things have warmed up and dried out, I have to get another truckload of crusher run/ABC and level it in there. Then I'll never have another problem. Drainage ditch runs right besides shed, need to get parking area higher and it will all drain where it should.

Toppop, I love those cans. The last style they came up with where you had to catch the lip and push down, and the lip always slid off, what a terrible design. This one is way better and for gasoline it comes out plenty fast. Remember to take off the cap at the very end, I forget once in a while and make a mess. But overall a great design. I'm spoiled by the electric diesel tank too, but for gas, so far I think the best design out there. I also keep a can of diesel half full in case I run something out, which thankfully has not yet happened.

Hope all of you not feeling good get a lot better today. Too bad this crud going around seems to last so long...
I disinfect the Food Lion cart and wash my hands every time I come home. So far so good.
I think 90 percent of the flu is children involved anyway, they go off to the petri dishes of daycare, nursery school, regular school. Not like our schools practice the same level of care the cruise ships do.

Toppop, my favorite is that going in and out of the cold gives you a cold or the flu. Zero science behind this, an old wive's tale. Cold has nothing whatsoever to do with illness normally. It's what you breathe or touch.
Put your coat on or you'll catch a cold. No you won't....you may get cold, but you won't catch a cold.

I have two of those no spill cans, they work great. I got them at tractor supply also. Looks like 6-12 for us tm.

25 going to 51, and light winds finally. I'd better seize this chance to change my truck's oil today...rain tomorrow.

I've burned more firewood in the woodstove this year than ever...not sure that means it has been the overall coldest year, but haven't had as many warm spells when I could let the fire go out. I noticed some freeze damage on many of the magnolia leaves from when the temps got down to minus 7. Never noticed so much brown on them before. I don't think they are native trees this far north and inland, but I've seen some around. I brought mine from my backyard in Virginia Beach, where a bird dropping of a seed sprouted and a 1 foot tree grew had taken root when I moved up here. It is now enormous, and provides us much pleasure and the birds great cover.

I like those diesel cans...will look at next time at TSC. I haven't had to buy one since 2004, when I bought my tractor and my can is the old style with just a simple spout. My gas can is even older, with the simple spout. I bought a replacement spout a few years ago online...one made for a "water" can, but fits and works great.

Been thinking of getting a concealed carry...and my wife is warm to the idea for herself. I bought her a Ruger LCR 38 special+ revolver on the advice of my son. She was concerned she couldn't pull the slide back on a semi-auto. Shot it for the first time yesterday while she was off getting her allergy shot...very impressed. I may try to get her to shoot a couple of rounds today.

A lot of sick people in this cauldren of pathogens. One guy was so sick in the public bathroom in one concourse that I deceided to go to another concourse and hopefully a "healthier" facility.

With my luck he'll be sitting next to me on the plane.

I've always dreaded flying in winter. There's no more perfect vector for the next worldwide pandemic than the airplane. Take one sick person, seal them in a tube with hundreds of other people for ten or more hours. Keep the air in constant motion throughout the cabin to evenly distribute the germs. Move it halfway round the world, then release those newly infected people into the environment. Do that hundreds of times a day, and it won't take long before we're all playing bit parts on The Walking Dead...

Bought this can today and live it! It won稚 spill, has an easy to use start button and automatically stops when full. Best of all is it pours fast like the old cans. If you have a modern no spill can you can buy the nozzle unit for $10, can wasn稚 cheap at $34.

I have both 2 and 5 gallon versions. I really like the 2 gallon one. Very easy to use. But the 5 gallon is too heavy for me and I need both hands just to get it into position. Then I have to use a knee or elbow or somebody else's hand to push that stupid button. So I end up using the 5 gallon one to refill the 2 gallon tank that I actually use for refueling. PITA!

Drew, the only way cold effects illness in a person is if you get cold enough to lower your body temp which weakens your immune system. Cold dry air is good for virus spread though.

Do you have to hold the button the entire time it pours?
