42 degrees here this morning, was 40 degrees at 4 a.m. Forecast is for low of 33 degrees here tonight and 34 for Friday night.

We got about 3/4” of rain yesterday by 5 pm and was glad to get it. It rained more overnight but, haven’t made it to the rain gauges yet.

Don, have you ever used these frost blankets or similar?

It was 4*above for the low this morning, it got up to 41* yesterday. Partly cloudy this morning with clearing this afternoon. The high will be back in the low 40's. They say it's going to be about the same for the next few days.

Making the trip to town today.

Hope everyone has a nice day.

Good Morning!!!! 54F @ 7:00AM. Abundant sunshine. High near 65F. Winds NNE at 10 to 15 mph.

I dunno, Eric, looks to me like when the first hole was being drilled the bit was chewing on the vise jaw and the part wasn't firmly clamped. He got the vise tight for the second one, and since the vise was in the same place, the jaws had been appropriately:confused2: machined so as not to ruin the hole in the plate.

Hope things go well at the party, Ed. What a kind and compassionate man you are!

I wonder if those antibiotics are upsetting your stomach, Farmer. Sometimes the doctor can swap the prescription for something equally effective that is easier on the tummy.

Congrats on your boy's graduation, PJS! Hope he gets a good mentor and continues his on the job education.

All this talk of snow and ice has me very glad that a monster Pacific ridge has established itself overhead and we'll have warm days and cool nights for at least the next week. But Larry Cosgrove is making noises that the pattern could persist into next March, putting us back in drought mode.

I was supposed to have heard back from a satellite internet repair person by now, so I called HughesNet again to find out what went wrong. Their records showed they'd never set up the appointment. The last tech wouldn't pass on the contact info for the local contractor that would actually do the work, but this one did, and it turns out to be the original installer. He's a good guy, but had one of his techs do the actual install and something has now gone wrong. I called him and left voice mail, so hopefully I hear back today and can set the visit up for tomorrow. I'm tellin' ya fellows, if you have any other choice for Internet other than satellite, TAKE IT!

Also had to call the bank to find out where the e-check that was supposed to get to the mechanic by today was. Why, it was mailed from Phoenix on the first, sez the gal on the phone. That would put it at 5 business days, exactly what I told the mechanic when he asked for the progress payment. I told him if he needed it sooner, I'd go to the bank that day (Thursday of last week) and get him a bank draft. He declined, but yesterday complained about the delay. Rather than let him make his problem mine, he got a reminder of the previous conversation, and will get another earfull when I stop by today to observe the latest round of non-progress.

I did find room in the yard equipment trailer for twelve feet of van awning, and got the rest of the truck unloaded. Not much else to report from yesterday, other than that the intro text at the start of the original Blade Runner states that events occurred in 2019, only two years from now. We're no way near flying cars, remote space colonies, cyborg human clones, or an Earth so crowded people are being paid to immigrate off planet, but if the traffic in the SF Bay Area is any indication, we'll get there pretty soon.

Hang in there, gang, Friday's comin'!

27°F and cloudy with light snow flurries this morning, going up to 36° today.

Went by the funeral home last night to visit with the Production Manager from work whose wife (also our receptionist) died over the weekend from cancer. There was still a 45 minute line when I got there at 7:30pm, and her sister said it had been that way all evening. Apparently, she made a few friends along the way. She was 56. He was in pretty good spirits, all things considered. I cannot even imagine ...

The company President just walked through a new girl, presumably the new receptionist. He didn't look too thrilled to be doing it.

I agree, I actually own the entire Harpsichord collection of Scarlatti... amazing music. Of course, one still has to leave a spot for JS Bach, he might possibly be the pinnacle of classical music. Sorry, Mozart...

Yup, me, too. I also have to complete harpsichord sonatas of Antonio Soler, and the complete organ works of JS Bach. I love baroque keyboard music almost as much as the string music.

A big accomplishment. Does he know what agency he wants to work for or will he be putting out his application?

Not yet. He's been living in San Marcos for about a year (his girlfriend is going to school there), but has talked about applying in San Antonio. He's always had strong leadership skills, so I'm confident he'll do well wherever he lands.

58°F, our low for the year, and 0 rain.

Have to go to town, refill my gas cans, go to HD.

Cottage tenants left for holidays on mainland. My opportunity for some maintenance, hopefully ferret out source of leak that appeared during all that rain.

Be safe
Have a great day

Interesting video eric. I know nothing about metal work, but have a friend in Wisconsin that is a master at brass instrument repairs, including building repair tools. He also plays in an orchestra.
