Never heard of pickaroon before, watched some utube videos, would have been nice to have one yrs ago.

Agreed.

Bending over really kicks my butt and this makes it so I pretty much don't have to.

Well worth the coin IMO.

Glad to hear you are feeling and doing better ...

Get well soon !

Generally, though if roundness is a issue, you aren稚 using a drill bit. If you have to use a drill press, a reamer will give you a better result, and better feature control. Tight tolerances like cylinder bores are bored then honed.

It all depends on the needed tolerance. Not just specified by some clueless engineer, not just what the shop can do, but what the application actually needs to be successful. Time and again I had to arbitrate between the designer/engineer and the shop to negotiate something that didn't cost the moon to produce and would still do the job. It's a lot easier to draw 1.000" +- 0.001 on a print than it is to make it.:duh:

In all the whining, I forgot to mention that my oldest stepson passed his state exam yesterday, and is now an officially licensed Texas Peace Officer. Proud of him for setting a goal and meeting it.

A big accomplishment. Does he know what agency he wants to work for or will he be putting out his application?

Good evening all. 42F for the start, heavy overcast, light north breeze. Heavy overcast remained all day, wind picked up late, dropped off early and did not amount to much, and high temp was 55F. Fire lasted all night in wood stove, built fire back up, refilled the wood carrier, Men's meeting, leaf pick up, bike ride and Subdivision vision meeting that I missed:mad:. Wife left on an afternoon car ride to get her quilt top turned into quilt, so got to cook supper too :D . No nap so early to bed tonight.

I use to tell interior designers and architects that all the time, just because you draw a picture or Write a spec, doesn’t mean it’s practical to build.

Properly sharpened 1 "" twist drill, with the web thinned correctly, will drill about .002-.003 out of round hole. Dull drills will wander more, messing with size and location. On the NC machines we tended to use indexable carbide insert drill 3/4 inch and above, better holes less walking, and roundness/size issues.

Buckeye sounds like you are doing better, more prayer sent.

RS, the older I get the more I need to wear filters when grinding of doing dusty chores like leaf pick up. Other wise it is weeks of sinus issues.

mg,

Similar here ... only it seems to be more my lungs than sinuses.

I've only had one really bad sinus infection in my life, back in the 80's ... but it was just nasty.

Good morning. Hardly had chance to catch up on TBN yesterday as I struggled to keep pace taking out staples, wire and old wooden posts as the mean fencing machine (A Bryce Sumo, hung off a JD6130R) was knocking them in faster than I could clear the next run. Serves me right for changing the line of the fence instead of just letting the lad knock the replacement fence posts in alongside those that had rotted off. At least the new posts look to have plenty of genuine old style creosote in them so they may well last me out.

If RS ever makes a super heavy duty post slammer, I bet it would look something like this.

As 300UGUY and my old metalwork school teacher used to say, twist drills are not round and don't naturally want to put a round hole in anything.

I did some sloppy work a couple of weeks ago and drilled an ugly six sided hole in some galv sheet the other day. Without the right size holesaw finally had to resort to drilling them through cloth to get a roundish opening. Never thought to take a pic but this guy did old machinist trick - YouTube

Showing 30 outside this AM. The wind caught me by surprise yesterday. Last nights sunset was pretty awesome. The cloud front was right over the horizon, gave it some serious partitioning for the final lights of the day.

Not much going on, all this talk of fire wood, makes me want to go chop some up for the day. Might do it anyway just to let some of the stress go away.

I hope all have a great day, be positive.

Good morning.
Temp is 20 and going to a high of 21F 40% chance of snow. Wind NW 9mph. We did get some snow out of the squalls, about 2" or so.

Eric, thanks for the video. I learnt something today.:)

I gotta go to town today and get some grub and the mail.

I was talking to the people that I am going to get the backhoe off of and the price is $9,605. installed and tax in. I will get them to make a separate work order for the hydraulic filters change + picking up and delivering the tractor. I checked with a couple of other people that have flat bed trucks and their prices all came out at about $1,000.oo to go 103 miles one way, twice. The dealer will come up get the tractor, take it to his shop, do the work to it then bring the tractor back to me for $600.oo.
The hoe is the KB2475L. He says it is made for a cabbed CK27, by Kioti. Maybe it is a rebranded Woods or Wallenstein, but if it says Kioti on the serial number plate, then it is a Kioti in my eyes.

I will go out about 9:30 and clean up the snow.

Stay safe, all.

Good morning! 39˚ heading to 49˚. Up early, Gray2 was meowing at the door: "It's cold!", and Whipper was going coyote - that's what we call it when she starts howling like a coyote and there usually is a coyote close by.

a good day to start the WBS. Everything is ready. But. Since this is the coldest day it will be warming up soon and If I just turn on this space heater by the computer table I won't have to watch the fire and take out ashes and bring in wood. Wow, am I getting old or just lazy.

Yesterday was non-productive - as I was driving to Mom's in the rain my tire low light came on. This is the 3rd flat in 2 weeks I have had to repair, two of hers and one of mine. At her house I found which tire leaking then with soapy water found the nail, but since it was cold and raining I just aired it up and took off to town and let Discount Tire repair it free. Since the Discount tire is the only one around for 50 miles they were busy - 1.5 hour wait. My yesterday's agenda is on for today.

Looks like Weimar is getting all the rain early this morning, Our rain event was less than an inch.

Good morning all, 34 this morning going to 44 and mostly cloudy. Spent the day running around getting stuff for today. The Boy turns 50 today, looks like a young boy and is in many ways. Balloons and streamers are up, gifts are in bags, small party this evening. Lot of work for something that will send him to bed to escape. But he will think about it for mounts.

Eric thanks for the video, had problems with that in the past.

buckeye, praying for your tummy, Drugs can be nasty these days.

Have a great day. Ed

Had a nice time with my stepbrother and his wife yesterday. He and the rest of their family are headed to Oahu in a few weeks for a Christmas family reunion; a sister lives there. I told them they simply had to go see the Arizona monument. Pretty hard not to look at those bubbles coming up and not say a prayer. When I visited it, half the tourists were very somber and respectful Japanese. All I can say is I'm glad my Dad came home from the Pacific theatre, or I wouldn't be here.

26 degrees in Princeton NJ going to 46, rains are done, clear weather. But not at home, rain there for several more days and at 7am I start off for the 9 hour grind home.
