Good Morning!!!! 48F @ 7:45AM. Sunny. High 58F. Winds W at 5 to 10 mph.
The county crime/fire Facebook group had a thread at 6:30 this morning: An attempted home invasion was stopped when the gunman failed to gain access through a door. A description of the rifle carrying man in black military garb was given, along with news that the sheriff was on the way. Half an hour later the sheriff was too late and there was no sign of him. Checking the the satellite map there was a large marijuana grow at the reported address. I don't have problems with people smokin' the stuff, but I really don't like other people coming to my neighbor's door and acting impolitely with a rifle. Chatter following the post indicates that criminal gangs from metro areas to the south commonly target the grows they spot using the same satellite views, and come knockin' at harvest time. Scary times...
I found good deals on rosemary and other plants at the farmer's market when I was landscaping this place, but it was a major PITA to find parking and everything else there was way overpriced for what it was. Didn't seem to slow down the other buyers, though. The WinCo store has very nice locally grown produce as well as everything else ya need each week, and great prices to boot. They're always crowded, but they've got a huge lot outside and the parking's free.:confused2:
Replacing the wheel bearings on the old motorcycle caused the preload on the bearing stack to change (they're tapered rollers), so I had to shave a few thousandths off the sleeve that separates the outer races. Installed the stack, clamped the axle into the vise, and rigged a magnetic base to use as an indicator for side-to-side and up-down movement on the rim. Got it to within 0.060", then used a steel rule across the hub ends to check the dish, which was off by about 0.125". Fixed that, then started tensioning the spokes using a torque wrench. Found that bringing a loose spoke up to torque didn't move the rim much if at all, which should be no surprise but having never used a torque wrench before was a bit of a revelation. The instructions that came with the spokes said to use 80 inch-pounds as a final value, and I got to 50 last night before it was time to quit for dinner. Hope to finish that one today and start respoking the other one. Probably another day before it's done, too.
Hope everyone enjoys their weekend!
