Mornin Daugen,
If your looking for deer treats try brusselsprouts. Until fall as things die off they leave most of my stuff alone, not so with my Brussels they will, destroy the plants given a chance any time of the season,mIt's funny they have gotten into them in the the fall but still just go for the leaves and leave the sprouts alone.

good to know, thanks. Also good I don't like Brussel sprouts. Too many undercooked ones as a kid I guess...

Good morning.

28 going to a high of 36. Snow mixed with rain today with an inch already on the ground. Wind ESE 14 mph.

I am going to town about 10 A.M Get me some belly pork and other stuff.

I got a little re-arranging to do today in the portable shelter, after the town trip. Take the ride on mower off the trailer and throw the trailer outside for the winter. It is just too tight in there with the trailer and then try to put the Jeep in, too.

I got some firewood to move, too. I don't need my oil guy trying to climb over a pile of firewood to get to my tank.

Good morning all, 39 here this morning going to 58. 70% chance of showers tonight. Went to lowes yesterday and got some lumber for a warp rack for wife's loom. It will hold 360 spools of string that will just feed on to her loom as needed. Then I just need to make a feed that will hold the string tight but easy to advance. Back is a little better this morning but not great.

Randy, Still praying, it will get better and likely quicker than you think. Love you Brother.

Drew, run one wire knee high and make it hot. Then smear it with PB and they will leave your garden alone.

Have a great day. Ed

Poured first cup of coffee. 41ー with cloudy skies this morning. Heading to 46ー with rain most of the day. No more doctor appointments for me until next spring. Got a good report from Endocrinologist. Do need to get teeth cleaned next week. Yesterdays projects started out OK. But for some reason one of the steer tires went flat on JD mower. Not a easy job replacing tube on a 6" rim. No real plans fro today. Maybe help wife clean house. La Crosse weather station is working good. But will not give me rain and wind on iPhone. Going to take it back and get another one today.
David, thanks for the greeting.
Eric, yellow snow. Is that a hydraulic leak on the tractor? :D
Good Morning All.

Ya know...I do have an extra 24 mile solar powered electric fence with a lot of extra fittings.
I electric fenced my rose garden this year and had the best roses ever.
Really can't blame the deer, I'm just laying out a smorgasbord for them...

so for the part not plastic deer fenced, I could run a zapper line around knee high. Good idea.
Those things can give you quite a jolt.

I've been told the local Master Gardeners club is going to visit me.
That should be fun. I have their guide, super helpful, they have a booth at the Sat morning farmer's market.
I'll let them go test my soil all over the place.
I wonder if they'll come and help weed...

Good morning! A balmy 71˚ before sunrise and very windy from the South. An equally forceful wind will come from the opposites direction at noon holding the temperature to 80˚ today and we should drop to the forties by Sunday morning.

We will celebrate Thanksgiving today with Mom. Maybe knock out a few project out at her house since my brother and nephew will be down. The cinnamon and dinner rolls turn out good but I think I had the bread dough a little dry. The new 590 watt stand mixer was getting warm and starting to smoke as it was kneading the hard dough. You defiantly cannot go past speed 2 while kneading as the warning states on the dough hooks. I was having thoughts of Randy's fires. Next time I'll leave out the last 1/2 cup of flour and add a little at a time to get the consistency just right. I did get a good rise in the oven on the "Bread Proof" setting (100˚F) but I noticed in Jill's youtube her rise was better and her oven's "Proof" temperature was 85˚F.

I have been to a few farmer's markets and found prices to be higher than in the produce section at HEB grocery store. They seem to want to sell things by the little basket so they don't have to sell by the pound and comparison is hard till you weight at home. My best find at a farmer's market was Sour Dough Bread, it almost tasted like a dill pickle. He had a good starter.

Don, I'd get a new mixer. It should never smoke. Internal overheat circuits should turn it off first. Smoke means something got cooked in there.
Under warranty, I'd get another one. I love mine and use it regularly for brownies and cakes but not for bread so far. Bread machine works so well, but with the
negativity towards carbs, haven't made bread in a long time. Maybe I need to make a different bread...

Agreed. No bargains at all, just usually fresher than store. Tomatoes always seem overripe to me...great if you are going home
to make sauce from scratch, but won't keep.
I honestly trust the stuff marked Organic in the store more than the local farmers. One reason to have your own big garden, you know what you are eating.
We are what we eat...I've eaten my way into pre-diabetes and now I have to eat my way out of it. Lots of veggies should help.

I'll give Kitchen-aid a call, thanks. The instructions did say that it can overheat and it would shut off and could stay off for as long as 30 minutes before it cooled enough to be restarted.

I agree. My wife likes to go to the Farmer's Market in Denton in the summer and the prices are too high and the baskets usually hold more than the 2 of us need at a time. There is one thing that I like, have never found in the grocery store, but found at the Farmer's Market all the time until this year. They never had any this year. And that is the "White Scallop Squash" or "Pattypan Squash" by whatever name you know them.

Escaping insurance for five years, I owned my small town's Radio Shack and saw a nice variety of smoked equipment, usually terminal since the cost of the main pc board and remove/install was more than the value of the item. I sold a ton of surge protectors, had a huge display of them, and not Radio Shack, the Tripplites and better stuff and urged every one to use them.
I genuinely believe my very low repair rate was due to having most of what I sold plugged into protectors. Living in the country you lost power a lot and when it surges back on it's like an electrical tsunami coming through your power supply. Sure it's regulated to some degree, but every big spike like that is wear and tear on the electronics. Anything that creates heat where it isn't supposed to be in electronics is bad news.

My favorite electronics saying was the one about the early keyboards, if you teach them to drink, they will soon learn to smoke....

99.something percent of electronics just should not have assembly oil/lubes "burn off" in operation. Not like our tractors...almost always the exhaust system at least smells for a little bit. Burning off the headers.
There should be no headers in your mixer Don :D I'm very sure the good folks at Kitchen Aid aren't going to take any chances and will ask for their mixer back.

18 right now...high in the upper 30's.

Only a couple things on the list today:
a) Winterize the mower
b) Hook up the snow blower's PTO shaft and hydraulic lines. The snow blower, as most of you know, was rigged to the 3PH last weekend.
I need to get some chain oil and Fluid Film for the PTO shaft and some fuel and Stabil for the mower winterizing.

I also want to run up to a general store north of Randolph. They're going out of business and I want to see if they have any gun safes on sale

Sneak to my favor spot for the last couple hours or so see if Mr. love sick shows up.
Nasty storm of rain/snow mix arriving tonight into Sunday AM.

Enjoy the day all.

The overnight low was 4*, yesterday's high was 33*. Not a cloud in the sky this morning. Going to be sunny with some wind and a high of 35*.
We did get about 16 inches of snow yesterday. There was some drifting but not to bad.

At least I know what I'll be doing for a few hours today.

Hope everyone has a nice day.
CWB.

It was 68 degrees and cloudy early this morning for a low temperature. The forecast was to go to 70, but now at 8 a.m. it's 72. It's supposed to be falling to 60 by 5 p.m. and 35 for the low tonight. At least that's the forecast from the NWS.

My favorite electronics saying was the one about the early keyboards, if you teach them to drink, they will soon learn to smoke....

Reminds me of when I bought a new IBM computer, monitor, and keyboard in 1993. A very short time later, I knocked over a glass of wine right into the keyboard. I called IBM to order a new keyboard, told the guy exactly what I had done, and he just laughed and sent me a new keyboard at no charge.

That痴 the way I like tomatoes, stick em on some fresh bread with Miracle Whip or mayo and you got good eats.
