Good morning!!!!

I found out yesterday that a very good friend was diagnosed with ALS, I still in shock.
Sorry to hear this. Prayers for your friend, family and friends
While my wife has one of the outer edges of ALS it is still creates a lot of depression. Your friend will need a lot of support. We found that finding the right doctor is very important. To many of them want to treat it like any other disease.
There is a new USA approved drug out that has found good results overseas. Wife’s doctor is working on getting her on the list.
Another thing we found out is true ALS has upper and lower neurological conditions. Currently my wife only has upper.
Hope your friend has gotten a second opinion. We were very happy with the testing and care we got at Mayo Clinic.

Bands of mist are marking out the contours on the landscape this morning as the sun attempts to steam away memories of last night's rain. It would be very peaceful, except for the incessant honking of a large flock of Canada geese that have taken up residence on one of my neighbours fields. I struggle to think of any other creature that always sounds so stressed out and agitated.

Drew, sileage bales are a lot easier to make than hay in our climate, so are quite common here, far more so than traditional hay.

whereas hay bales give us bountiful supply of baler twine, without which many farms would literally fall apart.

Ain't that the truth. Keeps your pants up also, when you forgot a belt. Used to braid it to make ropes for swings.

The low this morning was 32*, yesterday's high was 52*. It didn't get as warm as they said it would. Today's going to mostly cloudy with 20% chance of showers. With the high in the mid 50's.

Didn't get a hold of the neighbor yesterday about the trench. Making weekly trip to town today, may run in to him there.

Hope everyone has a nice day.
CWB.

51°F and some light clouds, going up to 75° today. Very nice turn in the weather yesterday.

PJ, hope your new to you box provides a good frame for your speakers. What type of speakers do you prefer for the $$$? Some time ago, I watched an interview with Tiran Porter of the Doobie Brothers. He never knew how to read music. But he still played an incredible bass.

The speakers that come stock in this cabinet are of some Chinese manufacture which I don't remember (used to work for the company who made this), but are pretty good sounding and ultra light weight neodymium type. In the last one I had, I replaced the stock with Celestion Vintage 30 speakers, which in my opinion are the best-sounding guitar speakers ever made. They are also very expensive (I got the last ones at cost+5% as the employee discount). Eminence makes some very good speakers as well, and they're much more every-guy musician friendly in price. It's a compact 412 cabinet (Crate GX412XSa), which will be helpful in not taking up too much footprint in my small studio. The guy who sold it to me said he bought it from the local Guitar Center when he was 14 years old, and it looks like it may have never left his house.

There are a lot of really talented professional musicians who cannot read a note of music. Some notable ones who always come to mind are one of my favorite bass players Billy Sheehan (Talas, David Lee Roth Band, Mr. Big, Winery Dogs) and Sir Paul McCartney. Billy knows where the notes are on the fretboard, and plays by patterns in each position (2 whole steps, whole step and half step, or half step and whole step). McCartney wrote his giant Oratorio by playing the parts on a MIDI keyboard into a notation program. He would listen to the playback to know if it sounded right, then have someone check the score for any other issues. It certainly helps to be able to read music, but it's definitely not necessary in today's music industry.

He’s fortunate in being able to afford good care, but that’s no guarantee of getting it. I will tell the family about the Mayo Clinic.

Good evening all. 64F this morning, overcast calm wind and about 2 drops in the rain gauge. High temp was all the way up to 72F, on and off light drizzle, and light breeze. Took wife in to get colonoscopy this morning, in and out, 2 polups, all good now!! :dance1::cool2: Got back and she napped, fought the effects of the prep all day :(. Got my nap in, cleaned up sawdust from seat bottom, and found fender mounting screw was what was rubbing on rear tire.

Good morning. An unexpected start to the day, it may be murky, yet it's quite pleasant outside, with the forecast's threatened >90% heavy rain that was due to arrive 4 hours ago not even dampening the surface of the patio.

The sheep year has turned full circle with the arrival of 4 tups. If nature takes her usual course and everyone with nuclear warheads can keep their finger off the launch button, lambs should be starting to arrive towards the end of February.

RNG, you sound safe from speeding tickets for a little longer with your camper. Yesterday you were flat out - at 15 thou per day

About only thing I still have left over from having horses is a container of baling twine I kept when opening up hay bales. I still haven't used it all, but keep it handy.

Good morning all. 48 this morning going to 73 with fog then sunny. Wife wants shelves in one side of the pantry even before I get the wall in the other side so I will be aiming at that. Lots to do in the week before mom gets here. Glad for the cooler weather.

Top. Prayers for your friend

Have a great day. Ed

53 going to 75...feels delightful outside. No rain for 22 days, and none forecast.

Randy, sorry about your friend. Glad to read the info Ron provided.

Ed, my wife got a good laugh at your blue tarp offer to RNG.

Took wife for a breakfast date yesterday, and then car shopping. New ones are so much more advanced than her 14 year old SUV...prices more advanced, too. Looked at the Highlander, RAV-4, Outback, and Mazda CX-9. Interesting how different dealers operate...at one, it was all about "let's see your driver's license" and drive exactly here and there...at a different dealer it was...what's you first name...no driver's license, just "which SUV you wanna drive...here are the keys...when you get back just let me know...or if you want to test drive it home tonight, that's okay, too." All vehicles very impressive.

65 degrees in cooler weather, only going up to high 70s today.
Cooler weather appreciated considering that I have five more big trees to plant this morning, and the holes have to be dug mostly by hand.
I did three yesterday and almost keeled over in the heat. Decided to pace myself, watered the ones I didn't get to and decided tomorrow/today was another day. I'll dig another three today. Two foot wide by almost two feet deep holes. Thank goodness for new high tech shovels that cut through roots much easier; I'm planting along an old established treeline with big trees, and of course, big roots. In hindsight, I should have put the PHD back on the tractor; this hand digging is for the birds. Well, younger birds than me...

My Ram truck goes into dealership today to sit over the weekend, and maybe the "hemi tick" will present itself to the mechanic. Intermittent, problem with many hemi engines, I think due to complicated valve train not getting oil. One thing if I hear a tap for a few seconds on startup.
Last time the truck sat for a week, it tapped for ten minutes. No....sooner or later something is going to fail.
I have told them three times about this already and of course it never happens while in shop nor does this condition apparently kick off error codes to track.

If I get a NPF, no problem found, next week, I will sell the truck and get a different brand. Sad, the engine is marvelous despite being thirsty, but that tap will never get better, only worse, and any mechanical part that taps for ten minutes straight is not going to last long. I think Chrysler is hiding something here; lots of mention of "hemi tap" online. I'm for sure not the only one.

Drinking first cup of coffee. 53° with light rain this morning. Heading to 67° with some cloudy skies. Need to get chipper and Trak-Vac prepped. Enough leaves on the ground to start picking them up. Have a very large pile of branches to run thru chipper. From look of trees around here it may not have its usual color. Still need to put backhoe on tractor. But I keep putting it off. Because it is too much of a job. It will get done eventually.
Electric company was at neighbor's place again. Were all set to put new pole in their front yard again. New crew original drawings. Caught them in time. Explained what was agreed on last visit. Got that straightened out. But project is delayed again because wires are too close to tree limbs. Owner of 14 acres that new pole is in on happend to be by to check out hunting. Electric company got approval to drive trucks to pole for the work.
Drew, Randy and RNG, I do not think there is anymore neurological problems than there used to be. Per percentage of population. But when I was much younger people average life expectancy was in the 60's. Today it's up in the 80's. Neurological care has not changed a lot in last 50 years like other diseases. Sure hope that changes in the future. The doctor we saw a Mayo Clinic was head of the ALS Clinic in AZ.
ED, if you ever run short giving tarps away. Send those in need my way. I have a whole pile of them that I stacked up. No blue ones though. They must have blown into someone else's yard.
Mostly, Colposcopy  I need a couple days of naps to recover from getting one.
Buckeye, glad you are slowly getting better. Therapy did a lot to keep me from having another back ache again.
Good Morning All.
