I found out yesterday that a very good friend was diagnosed with ALS, I still in shock.
Sorry to hear this. Prayers for your friend, family and friends
While my wife has one of the outer edges of ALS it is still creates a lot of depression. Your friend will need a lot of support. We found that finding the right doctor is very important. To many of them want to treat it like any other disease.
There is a new USA approved drug out that has found good results overseas. Wife’s doctor is working on getting her on the list.
Another thing we found out is true ALS has upper and lower neurological conditions. Currently my wife only has upper.
Hope your friend has gotten a second opinion. We were very happy with the testing and care we got at Mayo Clinic.

Bands of mist are marking out the contours on the landscape this morning as the sun attempts to steam away memories of last night's rain. It would be very peaceful, except for the incessant honking of a large flock of Canada geese that have taken up residence on one of my neighbours fields. I struggle to think of any other creature that always sounds so stressed out and agitated.

Drew, sileage bales are a lot easier to make than hay in our climate, so are quite common here, far more so than traditional hay.

whereas hay bales give us bountiful supply of baler twine, without which many farms would literally fall apart.

Ain't that the truth. Keeps your pants up also, when you forgot a belt. Used to braid it to make ropes for swings.

The low this morning was 32*, yesterday's high was 52*. It didn't get as warm as they said it would. Today's going to mostly cloudy with 20% chance of showers. With the high in the mid 50's.

Didn't get a hold of the neighbor yesterday about the trench. Making weekly trip to town today, may run in to him there.

Hope everyone has a nice day.
CWB.

51°F and some light clouds, going up to 75° today. Very nice turn in the weather yesterday.

PJ, hope your new to you box provides a good frame for your speakers. What type of speakers do you prefer for the $$$? Some time ago, I watched an interview with Tiran Porter of the Doobie Brothers. He never knew how to read music. But he still played an incredible bass.

The speakers that come stock in this cabinet are of some Chinese manufacture which I don't remember (used to work for the company who made this), but are pretty good sounding and ultra light weight neodymium type. In the last one I had, I replaced the stock with Celestion Vintage 30 speakers, which in my opinion are the best-sounding guitar speakers ever made. They are also very expensive (I got the last ones at cost+5% as the employee discount). Eminence makes some very good speakers as well, and they're much more every-guy musician friendly in price. It's a compact 412 cabinet (Crate GX412XSa), which will be helpful in not taking up too much footprint in my small studio. The guy who sold it to me said he bought it from the local Guitar Center when he was 14 years old, and it looks like it may have never left his house.

There are a lot of really talented professional musicians who cannot read a note of music. Some notable ones who always come to mind are one of my favorite bass players Billy Sheehan (Talas, David Lee Roth Band, Mr. Big, Winery Dogs) and Sir Paul McCartney. Billy knows where the notes are on the fretboard, and plays by patterns in each position (2 whole steps, whole step and half step, or half step and whole step). McCartney wrote his giant Oratorio by playing the parts on a MIDI keyboard into a notation program. He would listen to the playback to know if it sounded right, then have someone check the score for any other issues. It certainly helps to be able to read music, but it's definitely not necessary in today's music industry.

He’s fortunate in being able to afford good care, but that’s no guarantee of getting it. I will tell the family about the Mayo Clinic.

Good evening all. 64F this morning, overcast calm wind and about 2 drops in the rain gauge. High temp was all the way up to 72F, on and off light drizzle, and light breeze. Took wife in to get colonoscopy this morning, in and out, 2 polups, all good now!! :dance1::cool2: Got back and she napped, fought the effects of the prep all day :(. Got my nap in, cleaned up sawdust from seat bottom, and found fender mounting screw was what was rubbing on rear tire.

Good morning. An unexpected start to the day, it may be murky, yet it's quite pleasant outside, with the forecast's threatened >90% heavy rain that was due to arrive 4 hours ago not even dampening the surface of the patio.

The sheep year has turned full circle with the arrival of 4 tups. If nature takes her usual course and everyone with nuclear warheads can keep their finger off the launch button, lambs should be starting to arrive towards the end of February.

RNG, you sound safe from speeding tickets for a little longer with your camper. Yesterday you were flat out - at 15 thou per day
