52°F and partly cloudy this morning, going up to 79° today. We had a beautiful weekend here.
The Wife got up Saturday morning and decided to get some steaks out of the freezer to thaw for dinner. She was furious to find that the upright freezer in the garage had no power, and most of the meat in the top half had started to thaw. We ended up throwing out most of it. The stuff towards the bottom still seemed mostly frozen. When the electrician showed up at 8am, we asked him about the power to the garage. There was one mislabeled breaker turned off in the box that, when turned back on, re-energized the garage outlets. He had that sinking look on his face when we told him what we found that morning. We could only surmise that it had been turned off when the power company was there last week with him, and he simply neglected to turn it back on. He promised us he would reflect that loss on his bill, and we agreed on an amount. Fair enough, I guess.
The Husqvarna rider stopped working last week while the boy was using it to haul off stuff he and a friend were cleaning up behind the barn. Did a little poking around on it Saturday, and narrowed it to the switch or the relay not getting power to the starter. Pulled the switch and the meter said it was working. Cleaned it off a bit and reinstalled it ... bingo ... started right up. Dirty connection. I love the easy stuff.
Spent much of Sunday afternoon riding around the pasture in the tractor, dragging the rotary cutter behind it. It was a beautiful day, and I didn't mind it one bit.
We never did cook those steaks Saturday, so I threw them on the grill last night. They were T-bones, and they were delicious.
Hope for the best for everyone in Irma's path. We've heard from everyone we know in Florida, and all are still posting on Facebook this morning.
