This is a day to remember one of the most heinous acts against the American people...we must never forget those who lost their lives as a result of terrorism.

Poured first cup of coffee. 44° with mostly clear skies this morning. Heading to 75 with mostly sunny skies. RV friends are stopping by for a couple of days. Going help to him with some repairs. Lawn got mowed yesterday. Noticed that trees are changing color fast. Must be the cool weather we have had lately.
9-11-2001 a sad in USA history. I am sure most everyone knows what they were doing when news came about the attacks.
Prayers for those in Irma's way.
Don, as already said. Voltage is not the only thing that makes a battery do it's job. But from you post. It sounds like the starter is not engaging. Should be fairly easy to bypass the switches that allow tractor to start when in proper position. Do make sure transmission is in neutral when bypassing switches. Is your dad a service manual person. I have manuals for everything I own. Just have to remember to read them.
Good Morning All.

This is always a somber day. Having lost so many of my extended family in the gas chambers, I'd like to add
don't ever forget the Holocaust, Pearl Harbor and 9-11.
What we do to each other...

I think many of us feel less safe in public places now, don't want to be a soft target for haters.

This is a tv scene I will always remember, one of my favorite shows, when I used to watch tv:
Hill Street Blues - 'Let's be careful out there' - YouTube

Good morning. Seeing all the wild weather in the world puts our own into perspective. Compared to those who have been battered and drenched by Irma, our day is starting out as ever so slightly windy and ever so slightly wet.

Kyle, hope your son had as much fun this year at the family fun day as he did flying out that chute last year.

Now it is September I'm allowed to once again cut branches back without risking the wrath of farmland inspectors. Yesterday I made a start on some growing out over a fence that is sorely in need of repair. I have an awful lot of fence posts that have rotted far too soon as the "environmentally friendly" preservatives they have been using for the last few years have proved to be next to useless. Steel posts are very rarely used here for agriculture, however the timber merchants could see if they didn't act they would loose this business and several are now offering creosote treated posts that come in the same environmental category as utility poles and therefore permitted on farmland.

My wife has convinced me (quite easily) that I am getting too old to knock in so many 4" diameter posts by hand over winter, so hopefully in a month or two a young man who puts in agricultural fencing for a living will come with his tractor mounted post knocker. He will be able to drive in the 6-8" straining posts too, which otherwise I have to dig in and then tamp up by hand. I can see that paying someone to do things I happily did myself is going to become a recurring theme as the years accumulate.

49 going to 76 and last day of some sunshine as effects of Irma move in today.

Don, those are nice tractors. Hope the tips on starting the Ford work for you. How's Whipper?

Drew, don't get too carried away since discing is so much fun and start discing your yard :).

Hiked a 9 mile trail in Shenandoah with my son and Coco yesterday. Great weather and pretty stream...1,200 foot ascent, but not too strenuous. Had to step over 2 big yellow jacket nests. Rangers were doing a search and rescue nearby. Hope they found the person.

Good morning all. 46 this morning going to 68 and partly sunny. Have to do some errands this morning and then a meeting this afternoon so that will pretty much fill the day. Thinking about those who have given their lives or had them taken away. We are blessed. Any one of us could have been born in North Korea or........... We are blessed.

Don, I bought a load tester years ago and it has saved me much more than it cost many times and many worries.

Praying for those in Texas and Florida.

Have a great day. Ed

The low this morning was 44*, yesterday's high was 75*. Today's going to be in the 80's with sunny skies.

Had a good day showing my daughters boyfriend some of the places I have hunted up here. Didn't see a lot of animals but did see one nice 4 point buck.
Back to working around here today.

Hope everyone has a nice day.
CWB.

52°F and partly cloudy this morning, going up to 79° today. We had a beautiful weekend here.

The Wife got up Saturday morning and decided to get some steaks out of the freezer to thaw for dinner. She was furious to find that the upright freezer in the garage had no power, and most of the meat in the top half had started to thaw. We ended up throwing out most of it. The stuff towards the bottom still seemed mostly frozen. When the electrician showed up at 8am, we asked him about the power to the garage. There was one mislabeled breaker turned off in the box that, when turned back on, re-energized the garage outlets. He had that sinking look on his face when we told him what we found that morning. We could only surmise that it had been turned off when the power company was there last week with him, and he simply neglected to turn it back on. He promised us he would reflect that loss on his bill, and we agreed on an amount. Fair enough, I guess.

The Husqvarna rider stopped working last week while the boy was using it to haul off stuff he and a friend were cleaning up behind the barn. Did a little poking around on it Saturday, and narrowed it to the switch or the relay not getting power to the starter. Pulled the switch and the meter said it was working. Cleaned it off a bit and reinstalled it ... bingo ... started right up. Dirty connection. I love the easy stuff.

Spent much of Sunday afternoon riding around the pasture in the tractor, dragging the rotary cutter behind it. It was a beautiful day, and I didn't mind it one bit.

We never did cook those steaks Saturday, so I threw them on the grill last night. They were T-bones, and they were delicious.

Hope for the best for everyone in Irma's path. We've heard from everyone we know in Florida, and all are still posting on Facebook this morning.

70°F and no rain

16 years ago our life of freedom changed forever. Kinda feel badly for those too young to know the difference.

Good luck with your tractors, Don

Drew, that's some impressive repair.

Farmer, thank for the chicken lessons.

I had a kidney stone when I was 20, wouldn't wish that pain on anybody.

Be safe
Have a great day

Sep 11, 2001. My wife and I had just married 17 days earlier. She told me she had to just turn off the TV. The grief was overwhelming her. Me too. Somewhere, I have a vcr tape that I just put in and hit record. I still have not watched it.

I was at work at a music electronics manufacturer. One of the other quality inspectors stuck his head in my office door and said, "A plane just flew into one of the World Trade Center towers." A few minutes later, he stopped again with news of the second tower. I went to the front office, and they already had CNN on the TV in the conference room. I stood there and watched with a mixture of disbelief and anger. I walked away after the first tower fell. I didn't want to see anymore. The disbelief was fleeting, but I still get angry to this day when I see those videos.
