Good Morning!!!! 77F @ 8:30AM. Abundant sunshine. High 98F. Winds SSW at 5 to 10 mph.

Made it to 103F yesterday afternoon, I made it to 1:30 in the garage before I bailed and had some lunch.

No Kubota orange because maybe Dodge knows only IH and NH owners are the only ones that like their tractors enough to have a truck the same color? I sure wouldn't want an orange one.

Apparently Apple's still working on an Amazon Prime app for the AppleTV, and it won't even be ready when Apple launches the new 4K version of AppleTV later this year. That matters only if you've got the AppleTV 4, as earlier versions don't support apps anyway. So you're stuck with casting the video from an iPad or iPhone to the AppleTV, as you've already found out. You can force the iPhone to use WiFi by turning off the cellular connection in the Settings app; that'll at least save you some minutes on your phone's data plan.

Got some time to look into Ameriprise yesterday afternoon, and reviews were all over the place. Reviews at Yelp! and consumeraffairs.com were horrible, complaining of slow claims service, rude representatives, and frequent premium increases. Then again they're rated A+ by the BBB and get decent JDPowers reviews. But I consider these last two pretty low bars of comparison, as it doesn't take much but to be in business to satisfy either agency. By comparison, they're not much better or worse than Liberty Mutual, my current carrier, and Ameriprise is 40% less for the same coverage. Seems like you have to switch every year or two anyway because all the companies these days seem to offer a low rate to get you to sign up, then keep bumping it even without any claims...

Heard a water bomber go over the house low yesterday afternoon, and sure enough there was a huge smoke plume to the southeast. It was the Ponderosa Fire, fifteen miles away, and this morning it's grown to 2500 acres. Apparently it started about 1:15PM, but by 5:00PM or so they'd managed to knock the smoke plume down entirely. It's rough country, though, and they're saying it'll be another week before they get full containment. In the mean time there's not much danger of it making it here as it would have to jump the broadest part of Lake Oroville and cover all that distance besides. Still, it's burned thirty structures so far, and evacuations are still taking place, so it's nothing to fool with.

Decided to scrap the lower bag mount brackets and start fresh yesterday, so this morning I'll get out the cardboard and masking tape to make a pattern before switching over to steel.

Happy Hump day, gang!

Good morning! 70˚ clear skies! high today of only 94˚. Got the yard mowed yesterday with no dust! All it took was to mow right after 14.91" of rain on this sand hill.

Please no Orange trucks. I was really hesitant about buying a Kubota because of the orange color. Now I wouldn't buy a tractor that wasn't orange. It took me 10 years to warm up to an orange tractor.

I'm trying Amazon prime for a month and saw they have streaming movies like Netflix. But to view them I have to air stream them from my iphone to the apple TV? really? That is not acceptable. Any other perks besides the free 2 day delivery that will make the $99 a year worth it? 95% of my purchases ship free anyway.

I stream Amazon via my tv with an APP and also on the Roku..?

Seems I've managed to pick up a summer cold :( throats better but a full on case of the miserables.

Diesel delivery today.

Not much else planned.

Be safe
Have a great day

Wow. Looks like you guys are scary dry there RNG. I don't envy that.

This is the height of the fire season, PJ. It pretty much stopped raining in April, with only about a quarter inch falling in June. Temperatures have been in the mid-90s to hundreds since mid June as well, so all the brush that resulted from the heavy rains over the winter (remember the problems at Oroville Dam) is bone dry. We sure could use some rain, but not fifty inches!

There were 5 - 10 MPH winds from the south blowing yesterday afternoon, and that helped the rapid spread. It got into the treetops pretty quickly, and that throws a lot of burning debris into the air that floats down wind, starting new fires. Latest update still has it at 2500 acres, but now with 10 homes and 20 outbuildings destroyed, 5 and 10 damaged. Video I saw on the news last night shows the area to be choked with brush and oak trees, and most of the dwellings had no fire safe clearance around them. None of it's flat, what roads there are wind up steep canyons and over ridges, and none of them are wide or paved. There are 10 helicopters and 9 air tankers on the job, including the VLAT (DC10 or maybe the 747) approved for use. Twenty-three hand crews, with more arriving every hour. No word yet on what caused it, but with hardly a cloud in the sky, chances are very good it was human carelessness.:frown:

The Wall fire, earlier this year, was in pretty much the same area, just a few miles south of the Ponderosa. That one took several weeks to get under control, and people are only just now cleaning up the damage and starting to rebuild. I don't know what it is about it, but there seem to be two or three good sized fires down there every year.

73F and overcast @ 16:00.

Just had a nice little shower move through, now back to a light drizzle. That will put mowing on the menu as soon as it's dry enough ... probably Friday.

Spent yesterday doing more leaf clean up around the polebarn and moving more topsoil.

It looks like rain (presumably from Harvey) is now reaching southern KY, storm track looks like it's headed right this way ... although there's a good amount of uncertainty this far out in time. It wouldn't be good if we ended up getting 4" of rain on all that loose topsoil that's now sitting on a slope.

Up a little late today ... got sucked into NYPD Blue and stayed up past my bedtime. Got bills scheduled for payment, will likely be an inside day, for whatever is left of it.

Feel better soon David. Good excuse to eat another pineapple for the vitamin C.

am going to make a home made steak sandwich using leftover strip steak.
And lots of cooked onions and garlic. Hard to go wrong...

running out of steam, time for another log under the boiler aka cup of coffee.

Recently read that pineapple juice was beneficial for a cough due to how it effects mucous. Happen to have a white one chunked up in the fridge. One that wife grew from a top.

144.4 gal of red diesel delivered, $657.02. The good news is that is same rate I paid last delivery in Jan.

When I was in high school, 1971 - 1973, my dad bought a trucks for his business. Because he is crazy cheap, he bought a truck nobody wanted, a truck originally slated for county use, a bare bones thing, basically a heater and a key for options, 6 cylinder chevy engine, and a 3 on the tree tranny. Oh yeah, it was very, very close to Kubota orange! Our county used that color on all its trucks. I think so employees would not use them for personal business, nobody wants to be seen in something like that.
