If you don't have enough buckets, around here we have a sandwich chain called Togos. Most of their toppings come in 5 gallon plastic buckets, and they'll either give them away or charge something like a buck a piece. Similar restaurants probably have similar problems getting rid of all those buckets...

An interesting thought.

I learned back in late 70's that a 5 gal bucket was something of value here in Hawaii. Sadly, they eventually get too brittle and break. Hopefully, I've still got some serviceable from the house build.

When TXdon was doing his paver project he had all these 3 gallon plastic buckets from the sand he put between the pavers. I took a stack of them home. Great size for carrying anything that weighs a little. Not much help in HI. Not sure if they would be okay for nuts.

two hours of dragging brush and chipping it wore me out, didn't get it all finished but made quite a mound of chips in the burn pile.
Hope to get it finished tomorrow before rain comes in

thanks Ron, Harv and Roy for memories

Just pulled up my profile to see I've been on tbn for 12 yrs now.
Time flies when your having fun. I like Good Morning thread the best, just the polite conversation of what people are doing. I really enjoyed tbn before politics, ie the front porch, and in the old days moderators kept better check on the obnoxious. There are some topics i can contribute too, but don't because there will be one self proclaimed expert who will always jump in to disagree without using any tact.
Miss some of the old posters, still wonder what happened to lbrown, but glad Ed was resurrected. Guy building a house in OK dropped out suddenly also, forget his handle. Really enjoyed some of the house building threads, like obed in TN (camper in the woods), pete in VA (build a house in 90 days), the log house in AZ, and the timber frame house in MO. And who can forget Drew's RV adventure across the US, that ended with a breakdown going down the Natchez Trace.

Maybe there needs to be a reality TBN tv show.

Good evening all. 80F this morning, overcast with thunder present. Trace of rain from earlier in the morning. Skies were variable from mostly overcast, to overcast, spot showers from 5:30 on, and a high of 96F. Did not get any mowing done today, mostly visited with step daughter till she had to leave, then wife and I took a nap.

Get to follow Harvey on that other forum (RV). While it is interesting and friendly it is not like TBN was in the early days. I came from the Original Kubota forum. So much good honest info came from members. I am one of the few people that have met Muhammad and his family. Great visit with them in Tuscan. Then on to meet the TX group at Jim Inman's place.
While I still read many post on TBN. I very seldom post. To many experts? What goes on on Good Morning is more to my liking. Much more like the original TBN.
Forgot to mention that most of us were on Dialup. Smaller post and pictures.

If I got the story straight, Muhammad's dad's version, Muhammad and Ibrahim had the Kubotabynet forum and dad told them that one of two things was going to happen. Either Kubota would buy the site or file a cease and desist. The boys built a parallel forum and when the cease and desist came the transition was as simple as can be. Allegedly Muhammad has a photographic mind and he had all of the manuals and parts memorized for Kubotas. Someone, might have been Ron, once told me that Muhammad could cross reference the parts across models so if you needed a part for one model that wasn't available he could reference you to the same part under a different number for a different model. The kid was and is amazing.

One has to wonder if a project like Don's bridge could be done today. If you get some time locked inside with this weather check out the old ATV Bridge thread.

And jinmans lift, what a great project. Miss seeing his avatar of the blue tractor.

2004 when I joined, lurked a bit before. We had bought our acreage in HI and knew a tractor was in my future. What I didn't know yet was what a great resource TBN was.
I don't visit the tractor threads as much anymore. One thing I really appreciate is all the other info available here in addition to the friendships.
I've been fortunate to meet several TBNers in person, in fact, one guy I met on the forum is a neighbor a few miles from me. We both have our tractors we brought over here, both live in the homes we built. Even better, our wives are friends now as well.

50 right now...mid-70's for the high today...nice weekend, but now it's back to the grind...

Boy, it was fun to read some of the old timers' posts...and I learned a few things (and names) I didn't remember from the early days of TBN. I'm a bit surprised Bird didn't chime in...but the day isn't over...

Had to think for a few moments what day it was when I woke up, Monday usually follows "database error" Sunday, however yesterday TBN gave me no such clues as to where we were in the week. :)

I finally got around to playing at a bit of zinc electroplating yesterday. I'm hoping if I can get a workable DIY technique, to be able to use this to delay rusting after welding things until I can get around to painting. Chemistry was never my best subject at school, so I'm going for the trial and error approach instead of on paper theory. Over the last few weeks I've spent my spare moments searching the internet for advice. With the safer chemicals, it seems to come down to a choice of either alkali or acid solutions. For a comparison, I have preped various pieces of steel, then cut them in half, using an alkali with the first half yesterday. Today I will hook up the second half to an adjustable power supply and give that a try with citric acid and a zinc anode.

Being relatively late to discover TBN, I missed out participating in the early days, although I have read of some past great adventures like Don's bridge. Maybe it helps that I don't read "front porch", but I think this is still an exceptional forum, with the vast majority of people on TBN still kind and helpful. Thanks to all of you for making this such a great place to say Good Morning.
