Good morning!!!!

66.5F and overcast @ 09:45, high today predicted to be 76F. Forecast downgraded to only a 20% chance of precip for the day.

Spent most of yesterday cleaning out around the surface drain pipes and (re)setting their slope ... still have a ways to go but getting there. Once I got it uncovered, the slope problems were pretty obvious (visually)

Also have two sections which are somewhat obstructed ... mostly likely silt and gravel. Worked some on snaking and water-jetting those out. Hopefully finish it up today.

Need to get diesel (and gas too) ... the kubota's tank is almost empty.

I'm definitely not an old timer here on TBN but I am a HUGE fan.

The Good Morning thread is my favorite, except when I've got a n00b question I need answered (and I've had MANY). I tried the politics, but all of the people here are way too awesome to fight with.

It's like my neighbor, he is a Union Organizer from Guatemala & works in DC, and politically we are fire and gasoline, but we are very good friends and our daughters play together, and we've hung out at BBQ's at each others houses, and we work well together. He is an awesome neighbor, and politics do not matter. Just like TBN.

I was looking to buy a tractor, because I needed it, and I'm a born and raised city slicker uber-n00b. I learned SO MUCH! The AG vs. R4 tire argument... OOF!

But I was able to make savvy choices and and picked the perfect tractor and implements, and I've learned SO MUCH from all of y'all.

I consider many of you to be most excellent friends and the few TBN folks I've met are exactly that.

I've gone back and read many of the old project threads, I would love if we could do similar in my area. Helping each other out...

When my days were dark, this was a safe place. When my knowledge is lacking, this place is encyclopedic. TBN is on of the few truly good places on the internet.

I'm so glad it is here.

Be well all,
David

1.54 inches of rain so far and I think it all came down when I left the supermarket to go to my car.
Boy did I get soaked, should have taken an umbrella.
ground is so dry it's just sucking it up

Agreed, David. The level of genuine kindness found here seems unmatched elsewhere. I've participated in a good number of topic-oriented forums over the years. All of them seem overrun with obnoxious know-it-alls and keyboard warriors. TBN isn't that way at all. Sure, there's the occasional tractor snob or gruff personality, but they don't seem to last long, and are definitely a small minority here. It's just a good place populated with good people.

It's been a nice rain event this last hour. Yippie. Ran me in from the shed where I was taking the masking tape off the RTV bed. I ended up removing the rust, buffing it out and giving it a fresh coat of enamel yesterday before the yard work. Looks like new. She's an original 900 from the very first production run of the kubota RTV line. Been one of my go to pieces for odd jobs and crap work.

Now RTV's, UTV's and ATV's are quite the story line here on TBN. That whole series of equipment sure has evolved over the last ten years.

Looks like I'll be cutting grass over the weekend with this cooler weather and water. LOL.

Time indeed has slip away....17 years.
First came on the site 1999 about couple hundred or so folks than the BIG new change.
Back than Bird from Frost Texas and I both had B7100. :)
If you have question you might have to wait day or so for reply.

two hours of dragging brush and chipping it wore me out, didn't get it all finished but made quite a mound of chips in the burn pile.
Hope to get it finished tomorrow before rain comes in

Why are you chipping it if you're just going to end up burning it anyway? Seems like a lot of extra work.:confused2:

I finally got around to playing at a bit of zinc electroplating yesterday. I'm hoping if I can get a workable DIY technique, to be able to use this to delay rusting after welding things until I can get around to painting.

Some of the things that are ending up painted really should be zinc plated on that old bike I"m working on, Eric. I found a place called Caswell Plating and have been watching some of their videos, but frankly all the fiddling and expensive potions put me off the idea. I'd be very interested in what you come up with, if you feel like sharing!

it reduces the size of the burn pile by 75 percent and much less burning material flies out of area.
My burn pile is already half full from doing it the other way, throwing everything in there as is, and it doesn't always burn completely.
These piles of chips after a week drying burn very thoroughly.
In the woods I normally will just chip them on the spot, but what I'm cutting now, and there's a lot of it, is over mowed areas.
Am very glad I got a hydraulic feed chipper. Just shove it in and walk away for the next one.

rain has stopped. Had fun shopping this morning at TSC with my ten percent off coupon. Stocked up on diesel additive, weedkiller, etc.

Good Morning!!!! 72F @ 9:00AM. Plentiful sunshine. High 94F. Winds SW at 5 to 10 mph.

Looks like highs in the mid 90s for the rest of the week, then a cold spell with high temps dropping into the high 80s. Gonna have to dig out the sweaters and long pants!

I've left quite a few forums because of bad behavior, and keep coming back to GM because of the nice, friendly conversation. I moderate at the motorcycle site, and mean spirited messages just aren't tolerated. They somehow disappear as if they never existed. And like most of you, I came here looking for help when I was buying my first and only tractor, and keep coming back and learning more. In a very real sense I think the discussions about safety, side hilling, and tip overs have saved me a lot of harm, and I appreciate the time everyone has taken to offer guidance and help.

More painting today, at least while it stays below 85F or so. Then maybe into town tomorrow for another round of troubleshooting on the van's electrical system. I have a feeling there's another run of mouse chewed wiring that I haven't found...

Hope everyone's week gets off to a great start!

Hey guys, I just thought of something. The Good Morning thread seems to be constantly dominating the "Rural Living" Forum. Do you think we should ask Muhammad for a "Good Morning" Forum - a category all by itself so we don't hog "Rural Living" and keep pushing other topics down?

You can ask.

Sounds like a good idea Don. This thread is like a refuge for alot of people. Wife and I were talking Sunday about the good old days after watching Perry Mason one made in 1960. My how things have changed in the TV world.

Regarding those Mac nuts, just remember, they are worth much more (100x) if you put them in small containers and sell to tourists.

Another 2" + today so far and a tornado struck the 1400 Restaurant complex, turning over cars and damaging buildings.

I just got back from getting my knee drained.
Mom was transferred from the hospital to rehab today, more estimates and more insurance checks.

Bass guitar, maybe. Been playing that song since I started playing bass in 1982. No idea how many times I've played it, but I suspect it is well over 1000 over that 35 year span. One of those songs that's just a rock standard.
It's in A minor, and modulates to C minor for the solo ... if that helps any. (cheap sun glasses pun intended)
If Si Robertson can do zztop, anyone can.

Soooo true, but right now, I have enough money till end of the month but NO macnuts.

An just to share, once I get them and dried enough to hull, some I will roast on my grill, others just eat raw. And I do share :)

Not sure I remember the card. So much going on. I was trying recover from my first hernia operation. 8 weeks of missed work. Plus another 4 weeks of light duty at work. I needed to be able to climb a ladder to do some of my job. But did use the time to research buying my Kubota.
