Good Morning! 56F @ 5:00AM. Partly cloudy skies this morning will give way to cloudy skies and rain during the afternoon. High near 60F. Winds SSE at 10 to 15 mph. Chance of rain 90%.
Plutonium, Vulcan ears, red eyes, drones, piles of paperwork; just more signs of the approaching Apocalypse!
Speaking of paperwork, got most of the receipts and such entered into TurboTax yesterday, so just need to chase down a few loose ends and taxes'll be over for another year.
Also got the instrument housing for the van epoxied up, but I'm gonna give the stuff another day to set up before I shape it and drill/thread it.
Will try to get out on the tractor to grade the rain ruts out of the driveway this morning. Apparently we've got a couple inches more rain on the way, and it'll be just the thing to help compact the gravel where it fills in.
Authorities opened the spillway at the dam a few days ago in preparation and lake levels have dropped to some 45' below the emergency spillway level. They still haven't removed all the debris from the plunge pool below the spillway, and it'll be interesting to see if they just leave all that heavy equipment laying around soaking up rent until it stops raining again. Looks like that'll be at least a week. A friend of mine sent me the cartoon above from the San Francisco Chronicle, and it's proving to be true. Just last week the local congress critter held a phone in town hall meeting to solicit damage claims from everyone in the dam drainage. With federal dollars in play, it looks like it'll be FEMA that is in charge of doling out the money, and their track record on fraud and abuse isn't anything to write home about. The cops had their hands full with looters during the evacuation, and the same attitude will no doubt hold among some going after FEMA. More signs of the Apocalypse!
Hope everyone's week gets off to a good start!
