RNG Cosgrove is one of my go to guys. Until the pacific jet calms down this is what we will get weatherwise. The dreaded Bermuda High which has been causing our warm winter in conjunction with the Pacific jet is forecast to get stronger. Not good if one does not like hot humid conditions. The MJO is also not coorporating so what we see is what we get.

Trimmed crepe myrtles today pumped up wife's bicycle tire which promptly blew the rear one picked up service truck from detailers now decide what's for dinner

Wow, what a difference a day makes! Cold and windy highs in the 40's today, but back to the 60's tomorrow. I finally had a good nights sleep for the first time since I got sick two weeks ago, and I actually feel better too.
Riptides, glad you didn't hurt yourself.

Glad you are feeling better

Glad you are feeling better

Thanks, it's a slow go. By the way, Dan Satterfield had taken down his long range article, still has his usual stuff up. He's not the world's best weatherman, but a pretty good meteorologist, if you know what I mean. Very technical driven.

Nice looking bike MG.

Margie has fell in love with the longleaf pines behind the house. Since she retired, she has been walking in them a couple of three times a day. I picked up a new pack and trekking poles on Walmart.com. It's a sure bet they were cheap or I wouldn't have bought them. Also got a tent on the way from the same site, and a 23 piece gopro attachment set from Amazon ordered. All told I spent almost a hundred bucks.

Larry, I follow Whiteblaze.net sometimes. I'm a gear junkie. My job doesn't let me get long getaways but I hope to do the Longtrail in Vermont this year. I settle for a day or overnight hike wherever I happen to be for now.
I have a GoPro and the attachment kit you speak of I think. Not put a lot of effort into them like I should but hope too also this year.

Hiking and backpacking is my way of disconnecting. The gear and other stuff that goes with it is bonuses!

Good morning and very good to hear you feeling better Randy. The wind has dropped here at last. I would really appreciate a few calm days, though I'm reluctant to look at a forecast in case it destroys my hopes for what's left of this month.

What is the stainless for?

I have some 12" square pieces of G2 Titanium leftover at work. I was thinking of making an outdoor firebox. Rust proof. :)

Spare titanium ! I would end up hoarding that for a lifetime, always hesitating to use it in case a more worthy project came along in the future. :)

The stainless is actually a magnetic notice board that I'm cutting down for a radiant heat shield, to go at the back of the woodburner in my workshop/office. I am trying to make a fire surround that will be a bit of an odd mixture of modern steel, together with some more ancient "rustic" character, by re-using 2 pieces of timber from the frame of an old grain hatch on the first floor. Each of these side pieces is fastened with coach screws to a steel frame that I've fixed to the wall behind the woodburner. With a bit of luck, the edges of the steel sheet should slide down into slots routed in the oak. Only got one side on but picture probably explains it better than my words.

Plan is for the mantelpiece top will be a length of slightly overlapping mat black steel.

26 going to 61.

Good to hear you're improving, Randy.

Close call, riptides...glad all you suffered was a debrief.

Eric, real nice looking set up.

Split all my remaining firewood yesterday and stacked on a pallet. Larro, just as you as quitting Nascar, I watched my first Daytona 500, or at least much of it after splitting firewood.

22 out this AM. Looks like I'll be accessing the freeze damage to the plants when the sun comes up. Man, it's cold outside, especially when we were in the upper 70's a day or so ago.

I stayed off roofs yesterday, and managed to start clearing around my barn silo as I think the barn is up for a painting this summer. Amazing what Mother Nature can grow through if you let her have way. I actually have a tree in the middle of the silo and it sprouts nicely out the top. That's going to be a fun project, and I am sure will have many debriefs associated to it. LOL.

Have a great day all, be safe! Always check your ladder locks. LOL.

Good morning! 65˚ Lots of dew and fog. The Mesquite trees are coming out but the pecan tress are still saying there is another frost this year.
All the potatoes are in the ground. Time to start thinking about the garden and to restock my much pile with rotten wood and organic cow pies for next year.

Hmm, I wonder if there is a market for organic cow pies?

45 this morning and headed to 61 today.

Half of birds arrive this morning. Then need to run to town and pay bills and mail taxes before March 1st deadline. Also pickup supplies to service mower. Mowing season isn't far away with these temperatures.

Good Morning! 37F @ 7:00. Sunshine and clouds mixed. Slight chance of a rain shower. High around 45F. Winds SSW at 5 to 10 mph.

Yesterday's threats of less than an inch of rain certainly proved true: Nothing at all fell here. I did see inflows to Lake Oroville increase slightly in the afternoon, so it rained somewhere in the drainage. But not enough to derail a plan to shut down water flow over the spillway today so crews can start removing debris at the bottom. It's an effort to lower water levels in the power plant discharge pool, which will allow them to restart the generators.

Put the word organic on anything, Don, and I'm sure you'll find a buyer. But even for material that's been through the cow, the cow would have to be organic, too. Don't know much about that, but wouldn't organic status mean limiting certain food additives and medicines for the cow?

Finally managed to get the software that monitors the security cameras to reliably write to a USB flash drive plugged into a router hidden in the rafters of the pumphouse. Only problem is the six cameras fill up the drive in only six hours of continuous recording. I'd like it to last at least two weeks, but with temperatures in the pumphouse climbing well into the hundreds in the summertime, an inexpensive conventional drive won't work. And even if they made a 3.4 terabyte solid state drive, I couldn't afford it. So I'll start playing with the motion detection software built into the cameras to see if I can go from continuous collection to only recording when things are moving. I've had problems with the outside cameras being triggered by falling raindrops and blowing branches/leaves before, but on the inside cameras it will probably work just fine.

Hope everyone's week gets off to a good start!

Good morning all,
It's about 30 degrees and snowing hard at the moment. Forcast is for snow all day and tonight. The mountains are getting hammered.
It has been an incredible year for snowmobiling. Last Friday while coming down a hill every time I would turn hard right or left the sled just "submarined" through the snow. Couldn't see a thing. It was great!!
I am getting a little anxious to seed my pasture. I guess it will have to wait. Every time it just about dries out enough it rains or snows again.
