32 here with a constant heavy wind. Back to reality I guess. The last few warm days were great.

30 high of 51 later today one or two drops of rain yesterday that's about it

Wngsprd if we are to get snow it will have to thread a very fine needle. There will be some cold intrusions but only short lived like the rest of our winter so it would be a chance of cold catching up with the moisture and that has not worked well this summer

About 32 right now...much cooler today with a high in the mid-30's.

Did some chores for the wifey yesterday which including replacing the Comcast DVR box with the new Infinity box. Not too impressed. The HD channels are nice, but the standard definition channels aren't as crisp as they were with the old box. Also, the new box doesn't display the aspect ratios correctly...every picture is 16:9 (most regular TV shows are 4:3 ratio). The old box, a Scientific American, did a better job with the aspect ratios. I don't think I ever had to go into the TV settings to change aspect ratios.
Actually, I think the SD channels were purposely degraded...sounds like something Comcast would do.
So, I'll talk to Comcast, as much as I hate to (since it's such a PITA to actually talk to a warm body).
After installing the new box, I listened to some Neil Young and George Winston albums....if you haven't heard George Winston's piano, I suggest you try him out...several albums on YouTube

Other than the DVR box...just putter today...since I didn't get to pop a few .22's yesterday, I hope to try today...if I think I can get down and back up from the field. The road down is fairly steep....no doubt tracks would do it, but even with the fairly aggressive tires I have on the Gator, I'm not sure they'd get me back up from the field. We'll see

33 out this AM. Yesterday while I was out the weather front came through. Unfortunate it ripped a nice section of roof off one of my older out buildings. Actually peeled it back like an old sardine can, if one can remember those. LOL. Got the call from a friend as they were on the property. So, when I got back with the SO, we attempted to fix it. It's just enough of an pitch and high enough to be dangerous. I rolled out the RTV and stuck a 24 foot extension ladder in the bed to match the angle of the building so the ladder would lay flat on the roof. Then I used another ladder to climb on the roof, and used the extension ladder as footing. Unfortunate, as I was putting the extension ladder up on the roof, it failed to lock. So, I found that out as I was sliding back down. I had thought the RTV brakes gave way. No worries, I have a nice insurance policy. After listening to the SO de-brief me, I locked the extension ladder and set up on the roof again. But now I was just not feeling it, so I rolled a few panels back out, slammed a few nails into them and said to myself, I need a new equipment shed.

That building has got to be like 50 years old and has seen better days. I'll rethink my no more improvements on the property since I don't want my smaller equipment and truck to get wet. LOL. And don't need anymore debriefs from the SO.

Have a great day all, be safe.

Drinking first cup of coffee. 55° with partly cloudy skies this morning. Heading to 64° with partly sunny skies. Nice relaxing day yesterday. Today is about the same with some NASCAR on tv in afternoon.
Riptide, debriefing by SO not a good thing. Be carful.
Drew, chipper in action pictures needed.
Good Morning All.

Yeah, I hate the "debriefing". And some times they never end. And years later, it can come back up. It's like she never forgets anything I screw up....

25 and going to 40. At least old sol has showed up. Sometimes we go for a week or so here, with no sun!

24 this morning and headed to 54 today.

Off to the big city (Louisville) today. Going up to see my sister and her family. But have to be back this afternoon early to get the PLT (ammonia control) spread for the chicken coops. So a quick trip. For you guys itching for warmer weather. The chicken coops are a balmy 94.

That's a genetic thing with women...they never forget our transgressions or mistakes.
We guys...we're like dogs...5 minutes after we did something, we forget all about it....Woof! Woof!

Good Morning! 37F @ 6:15AM. Sunshine this morning. Becoming mostly cloudy with showers developing this afternoon. A few flurries or snow showers possible. High 47F. Winds SSE at 10 to 20 mph. Chance of rain 50%.

No rain for the past few days, but the clouds to the north have been threatening. And now the weather guesser is saying "less than an inch" of mixed rain and snow flurries for tonight, whereas earlier in the week accumulations were down in the few hundredths range.:confused2:

And it looks like Larry Cosgrove is thinking warm spring and hot summer weather wise, Buppies. Ugh!

Gravity is a pretty unforgiving dance partner, Rip, and I'm glad damage was confined to an earful from your wife!

I had trouble with aspect ratios on my old setup, too, Roy. Once I switched everything over to use HDMI cables routed through an A/V switching receiver, those problems went away. But now I notice that some channels/shows don't use the Dolby 5.1 setup, and the receiver isn't doing a great job of simulating it. It's always sumthin', huh?

One Comcast tech suggested that when making a call to them. Agree to a call back for feedback. That will get you a USA person to talk to unless call load is real high.
Is your Xfinity box a X1. I like the features of this box.

Good afternoon. For the second time this week we have one of those storms coming that someone thinks deserves a name. I had hoped to cut to size a 1m x 2m sheet of stainless steel this afternoon, however the wind is already rising and if I take it outside and start now, there is a good it would become a horizontal guillotine. Perhaps best I avoid one of those "debriefings" by waiting for calmer weather.

Very neat panel installation David.

I believe it is...
There are some features I like...the voice selection of a channel, for example. If all you watch are HD channels, it would be great, but we watch a lot of the old syndicated TV shows such as "Law & Order" and they don't look as good as they did with the previous DVR box....plus, that aspect ratio problem is very irritating. The TV settings are "set by program", so the show should come in at the correct ratio...but they don't.

What is the stainless for?

I have some 12" square pieces of G2 Titanium leftover at work. I was thinking of making an outdoor firebox. Rust proof. :)

Good Morning. At 1000 it is a sunny and cool 58F with 32% humidity. Forecast high of 70F today and a low of 48F tonight. No chance of rain.

You guys have a good one, Larro

Nice looking bike MG.

Margie has fell in love with the longleaf pines behind the house. Since she retired, she has been walking in them a couple of three times a day. I picked up a new pack and trekking poles on Walmart.com. It's a sure bet they were cheap or I wouldn't have bought them. Also got a tent on the way from the same site, and a 23 piece gopro attachment set from Amazon ordered. All told I spent almost a hundred bucks.

Wow, what a difference a day makes! Cold and windy highs in the 40's today, but back to the 60's tomorrow. I finally had a good nights sleep for the first time since I got sick two weeks ago, and I actually feel better too.
Riptides, glad you didn't hurt yourself.

Hoping for another productive day

Forgot to mention today is a good above ground planting day. I'm planting Pruden's Purple, Brandywine and Yellow Pear tomato seeds. {also bought a 6 pack of heirloom Homestead tomato and two jumbo jalapeno plants that I will up-pot today} Also putting Raab Broccoli seeds in dirt.

It sure feels good knowing I have beat my 25 year Nascar addiction. The 500 is today, and I don't care.
