Frost heaves are starting to pop up like dandy loins. :confused2:\

Have good day all.

28 out this AM. Back to the maul today. What you guys thought I gave that up? At this rate, I am keeping even with the wood stove feeding, and by the end of the week, maybe I can work on next years feedings. LOL.

Get well soon toppop.

Hope all have a safe and productive day.

57 degrees, high for the day, rain coming in this morning and will likely rain for most of the day. Got some good powerwashing done yesterday on front fences, nice to see them white again instead of light green. Used about a one to four bleach solution and that seemed to work nicely. I'm sure my clothes will be white speckled. Helper is coming today to continue, but I think he will be rained out.

Have to stand by all afternoon for tractor trailers, one from Woodmaxx with my splitter and the other from fedex freight picking up my wrong tree order.

You all have a nice day and Randy/Toppop, feel better soon. Sounds like you got a dose of severe flu.

41 and raining. Looking for about 10 more degrees for a high.

Sounds rough, Randy. Take it easy.

Took Coco to the vet yesterday and all is good. Then for a treat, took her to our favorite trail to the river for a nice swim.

24 right now and going to a high of 23. No I did not make a mistake. I use the North Bay, ON forecast mainly because even though we have a post office, South River doesn't exist.
I got another 6" of snow to plow today.

Poured second cup of coffee. 60° with clear skies this morning. Heading to 75° with sunny skies. Not much planned for today. Allergies are kicking in.
Randy, get well soon.
Good Morning All.

32°F and clear skies this morning, going up to 46° today.

Looking forward to getting some work done at work today after spending all day yesterday with a consultant.

Hope you're feeling better today, Randy. Those sneaky ones are never fun.

Dentist went well exception having to return Fri for a broken filling repair.

Battery install - Day 2
We all know what they say about best laid plans.... installers arrived about 9:30, they missed final turn to house but figured it out. We're late because wrong batteries (older set) were loaded and had to be changed out for newer. So discussed job with lead guy after some traditional "talk story" and helper starts unwrapping when lead gets a call back from boss. Seems 24v pallet was loaded s my 48v. These come factory configured. Getting my 18 batteries is 2 trips with the warehouse about 45mins away. Concern is the exchange and changeout might run into evening. I agree it would be best to wait until this morning, but suggest depending on revised schedule it might be beneficial to drop off first load in afternoon. So now I have 12 of my 18 batteries sitting in my tractor shed. Guys should arrive with remaining 6 first thing this morning.
Fingers crossed all goes well :)

Take care
Have a great day

Good morning. Sorry, make that Good Evening, it has turned dark by the time I could get on computer today. Spooky how all I did was read about Drew's eagerly anticipated new tool and next thing up pops an advert for wood chippers.

Take it easy Randy.

Wonder if Whipper is still out chasing coyotes. Unless I missed a page, we've not heard from Don for a few days now. Or maybe he's out alligator wrestling with his niece.

Not seen batteries quite like that before David. Do Aquion ship them with the "saltwater" already in, or can you leave out that extra weight until you have them in place ?

Eric, my understanding is they come ready for hookup, but low charge. I did measure one unit - 44vdc. Interesting in that instead of traditional battery cables these require 2 mc4 connectors to a combiner box. You might notice there are 8 stacks wired in series, each stack appears to have 4 cells. There are a couple of interesting Youtube videos.

Alcohol stove ? Always imagined you would be more of the Kelly Kettle type, with a tiny little fire of dead twigs, ignited by casting sparks onto a piece of naval fluff and shavings of your treasured fatwood. Great to hear from you again.

I may have said before that I never trust alcohol burners, not since I was young and spilled the fuel for my little static Mamod steam engine. Within seconds the almost invisible flame had run over the concrete floor of the porch, fortunately stopping short of the coconut fibre mat by the wooden door. To a young boy it was fascinating and terrifying in equal measures.

[Thanks to "Mamod Steam Engine, steam toys, and Meccano 1929 engines" for the picture. My best friend borrowed mine one day in the 70's and I have not seen it, or him, ever since - we both got diverted by a new steamy interest - girls! ]

I used to always cook with wood at the camp. But when I'm hiking the Fancy Feast stove is my favorite. Although I call my stove a Red Devil stove. I had bought the 12 X 12 inch carbon flame protector pad to cut a wick from, and I was ready to make a stove. I dug though all the canned goods to find two cans the right size. I came up with cans of Deviled Ham and Diced Tomatoes with Green Chilis. The stove making was easy. Finding something in the pantry to cook Deviled Ham and Diced Tomatoes with Green Chilis was the hard part. I found a mix for Jambalaya, so I went with that. The stove and lunch turned out pretty good. I don't have a close-up of the stove on this PC, but here is a picture of a trail lunch. The stove is between the coffee pot and the {orange} coffee cup.

Larro good to see you back. How did the redesign of the rocket stove turn out?

I didn't get the 1-2-4 ratio just right. It burned , but wasn't real rockety. I've been working on an outside fireplace for my cob fix lately. But this winter has been too warm to have many fires.

Good afternoon. At 1630 it's sunny, 64F with 64% humidity. We had a little cold front move through this afternoon. Some clouds but there was not any rain to it. It cooled off from our high of 74F pretty quick. Also there is a little wind. Should make for comfortable sleeping at the camp tonight.

Today was cleaning lady day, so I started the day off with pre-cleaning lady cleaning. Margie has had the crud for almost three weeks. She felt good enough to go to Pizza Hut to have lunch with her friend today. First time she has been out of the house since she got sick. I know she was sick of looking at me and the walls.

Randy, hope you are feeling better.

Sadomo, good looking battery setup. {I've gained back some of my weight. Enough to scare 200 pounds a time or two. Last week I started logging my food again, and plan on doing a modified 5/2 fasting. I'm shooting for 11-1200 calories on my fast days.

Redneck, hope you guys don't get much rain before they get that **** dam sorted. With our brave new weather world, I'm afraid we will be finding out lots of old dams are not up to snuff.

Drew, has anyone ever explained to you what retirement means?????? I only scanned every 10th page, and I'm tired from just looking at all your work.

Hope everyone is doing well. I'm going to stir up some Walmart rotisserie chicken stir-fry, then heading out for a night of hiking and sleeping in the woods.

Larro
