46 going to a much warmer 66 today in what must be a very sunny day coming.
All good, my big helper comes today and I'm going to work him to death.
First he has about 30 of those big Tposts to bang in; I lifted that fence pounder...better him than me for sure.
Then we put the big auger on the back of the Kubota and I start measuring out the nut orchard field.

Goofed in my design....hmmm. Only about 85 feet of width. No way I can put three trees wide and still allow 40 feet between. So redesigned to do two rows, particularly since the plot narrows down at one end. In the wide area, I'll plant a third row, and put the figs in there. Figs, almonds, mostly pecans, and English walnuts. Should bring every squirrel here from Eastern NC. 550 feet long.

Took me several hours of fiddling around to get the fence line straight between two points almost 600 feet apart. Reminded me of front and rear range lights on a ship channel. First I put a marker up in the middle, made sure that looked good, then put down preliminary red pins. Then moved most of them over two inches. Then another inch. Then it looked good. A transit would sure have been nice...probably could have rented one.
Each time I moved the pins I lost land...but i sure don't want to move that fence again. I was hoping my neighbor would come out with his rifle and scope but he was at work. I have to do the same positioning for the tree rows. I want them straight.

I guess I'm going to wind up with almost another acre of lawn/orchard grass to mow. At least my neighbor said he would help mow this area, that's nice, it's his backyard and he seems to love riding his JD zero turn. Almost 9 acres of lawn now. I'm done...

29 out this AM. Road trip today down to Charlottesville.

Hunting for a truck for the daughter. Nothing else planned. Have a great day all, be safe.

Drew, the wife and I banged hundreds of t-posts back a few years ago. We did a 4 acre pasture and that covered a lot of ground. We worked in 24 - 48 foot sections, running a line between the posts to keep them straight. Not worrying about the "set" end points. Just "working" towards them. Turned out pretty good too. Google is your friend after the work, the shot from above says she did a good job laying it out.

27 going to 57 but mostly cloudy.

Cleaned out the woodstove ash tray a little while ago and took it to my pit...so many stars and super quiet. I don't know how Coco can see the Frisbee in the dark and catch it so well.

Good morning.
5 and a high for today of 23 and some light snow in the forecast. I'm off to the city to get some groceries, cat litter and dog food.
Gas is 2cents/Litre cheaper up there and I have a coupon knocking off another 4 cents. So that is where I will fuel up today.

Riptides, thanks, I went at 25 foot intervals, and it will take at least two years to get an overhead unless I get a drone, which might be fun anyway. I have a friend whose son takes pics professionally with a drone, I could invite him down.

sun is coming up, time to get moving. Sure would be nice to see the sun at 6 and not 7.

Good morning! Sunny day, SW winds starting off at 47˚ heading to 75˚. Today is mostly tractor day filling pot holes and maybe for diversion trail clearing.

No freezing temps forecasted for the next 15 days. Is this the end of winter for us Buppies?

Drinking first cup of coffee. 50° with mostly clear skies this morning. Heading to 72° with sunny skies. Nice day yesterday. Got my shorts out of the closet. Going to continue with patio time today.
Anyone have information on electronic ignition for gas logs without a pilot.
Don, you sure are lining up the projects.
Looking, is gas still $1 a liter?
Buckeye, are all the rollovers concrete haulers?
Good Morning All.

Yep, I get all the stuff, line them up and wait for my Northern friends to visit. :D

Ahhh, the sun is up, it's 50˚, time to get on the road - literally.

That trip was the weekend before Thanksgiving, 1972, after a 100 mile run picking up Indians hitch hiking to a pow wow, I rolled into Winslow just as Take It Easy Came on the radio of my '68 Sport Fury. True story.
My true story, Driving into Lagrange Texas, when I crossed the Colorado river bridge (in my trusty 78 Datsun pickup), it turned over 100,000 miles on the odometer AND ZZ Top Lagrange was playing on the radio. My head was spinning at the possibility of it all those odds aligning...

Another delay on finishing the east trail. My gravel guy dropped some pothole filler for my driveway.View attachment 497070

Don, mind I ask what it costs per load and how big of a load? It seems to look like a lot of dirt or sand in those piles?

Jim, that's why we rely on tourists to keep testing it :D

Almost never hear my wife swear, except the time I suggested we take that boat ride too.

Bridges and heights. It does look like a nice trip. How far did you say it was from you?

Metal roof update. Insurance requires 26 gage minimum thickness. No problem. I guess I will pick R panel galvanized. Insurance agent told me with metal roof, drop the hail policy and save $250 per year on insurance. My contractor still prefers to put the insulation in the attic. Says the insulation touching the metal can harbor condensation and promote rust.

38°F and partly cloudy this morning, going up to 52° today.

Carpenter came yesterday and started ripping out the deck, and located all the buried lines for power, water, and gas before digging with the mini excavator for the foundation. The old back porch should come down today.

Took mom, who will be 94 in April, to the cardio doc, her BP was 112/62!
Been watching Ospreys flying all around this morning, the planes not birds. They use our airport for practice, but not usually in multiples, makes me wonder if there is something in the wind.

I am right outside the great MCBQ, yesterday was Osprey day for me. Right over the house a few times, full tilt forward and fast moving.
