Need to pour second cup of coffee. 68° with cloudy skies this morning. Heading to 82° with overcast skies. Lawn cutting today. Has grown a lot since I decided to not cut lawn earlier this week. May have to trak-vac out. Then pack up motorhome for a trip next week.
Irv, get well soon.
Drew, congrats on the MF.
Good Morning All.

Good morning all. 74 going to 94 with some fog this morning. Had a blast last night at the blacksmith meeting. Lot of good talk with friends, always good. The guy hat owns the shop where we meet is restoring an old flour mill. Made in the 1920's and has stone burs and runs on a wide belt from a tractor. The movable stone is loose and is held to the shaft with lead so he will have to pack it. Another friend that I knew turns a lot of wood envited me to a free class he teaches not far from here on wood turning. Just show up and have fun. Just before the meeting I stopped at Rocking R Hardware and saw the tool sale is the 23 and 24 of this month and all the tool and equipment reps will be there and it is a huge sale. Will try very hard to be there as they have a drum sander there the same price as online. Will be cheaper the days of the sale. Baby sitter coming today and we are going to fiddle around up on the Blue Ridge Parkway today, then home for home group. (church)

Drew  I like massey's.

Have a great day Ed

Good Morning! 71F @ 3:45AM. Sunny. High 92F. Winds S at 5 to 10 mph.

Calfire has announced that the Saddle Fire was caused by a defective exhaust system on an automobile. Conspicuously absent from the announcement was the name of the driver, or if s/he was arrested. Apparently witnesses noticed the car, but couldn't provide enough information for law enforcement followup. Instead, we are all cautioned to provide better care for our cars to ensure it doesn't happen again. :confused2: That's the same warning that has been issued multiple times over the last several weeks after similar fires were started along another inter-mountian road nearby.

Spent most of the day yesterday unpacking the truck and putting things away. It took a lot longer than it did to put them into the truck, but entropy is like that.

I also fixed a broken power terminal on the motorcycle accessory wiring harness, a problem that had caused the audio system, particularly the radar detector, to intermittently lose power and start squawking when it was restored, a cycle often triggered when the bike hit a bump. Then I noticed that I'd left the gas on by mistake, and a small leak had resulted. The fuel line had become hard, so I replaced it as well. Now it's all set for another run this weekend, but I'm left wondering what would have happened if the fire had struck a day early and I wasn't at home.

My lovely neighbor was driving out his gate last night as I retrieved the mail, and he stopped to talk. He apologized for his bad behavior in the past, and suggested we could use the fire as an excuse to make a fresh start. I reminded him that I'd held my hand out to him in friendship many times, and that had only resulted in more trouble. I told him that the best way for us to get along was to have no relationship at all, and that I was done with him. Life's just too short to have a$$hats like that in it. My guess is that the fire lines that were cut through his property validated the improvements I'd made to mine, the same ones that he had so vigorously criticized me for. And the charred remnants of the homes across the canyon provide graphic evidence of what will happen to him if he doesn't wise up in time for the next fire.

Last night a local TV channel had an interview with homeowners that had lost one of those houses. Not a single word was spoken about their lack of preparation or failure to provide adequate fire safe space around their home. Now they have all the space in the world, but no home to go with it. They did say they plan to rebuild, so hopefully they learn from their mistake.

The power company was back on site late yesterday afternoon, reversing the wiring changes made earlier to restore temporary power. One of them said that 28 utility poles on the other side of the canyon had to be replaced, along with the wires they supported. He quoted an astronomical cost to do so, though I don't remember the exact figure. Then he handed me a brown paper bag that contained one of the lunches they were being fed. The thing must have weighed four pounds, and it'll probably take me several days to get through it. Nobody's losing weight on this job!

I was enjoying some music and a cold one on the back porch when I noticed a pickup truck parked in the new fire lane at the top of my property, but there was no one nearby. While I appreciate the recovery efforts, I think it's time I reclaim my privacy and once again start locking the gate. There's a phone number posted on the gate to call if they need access, and I've already made sure that the power company has the combo. Anyone else can call ahead and arrange access when I can be on site to keep an eye on things, and I don't think that's an unreasonable stance to take now that the emergency has passed.

TGIF gang!

Drew, on this forum, another tractor into the fold, is almost like getting a new family member. Hope it does a good job for you.

Good morning all, thanks for the lack of details Eric.

Ed, y'all have a nice drive.

Mowing and shredding on the forecast for tonight and tomorrow. Hopefully before any rains get here. Slightly cooler weather forecasted the week ahead, like Don stated.

Don, my solarization was a failure as far as nutsedge is concerned. If I had removed the plastic before all the rains in August, it might have been a success. But all the rains cooled the ground, and water/condensation got underneath and the nutsedge actually poked up through the construction 7 mil thick clear plastic. I took it off some weeks ago, now the garden is totally full of nutsedge. :(

Good morning! 75˚ heading to the 90s.

Kyle my solarization worked. The garden has been uncovered for 3 weeks and 2 rains and weeds are not sprouting. Thanks for the suggestion.

Drew you do need a non-cabbed tractor with a grapple for a woodsy area. I forgot, do you have a grapple?

Good day to mow at Dads. I sure like his 8' mower compared to my 6' mower.

Kyle Here we would just plant buckwheat and about 1 month later when it is in full bloom till it in. Repeat this process all summer and it will choke out most any thing, even perennials. Just plant it thick and it improves the soil as you do it.

RNG Sure glad things are getting back to normal. Ed

71.8F and mostly cloudy @ 08:45, high today predicted to be 86F with mostly cloudy skies. Very humid with all the rain we had yesterday.

Was too tired to make it back up to shop last night, get a (relatively) early start this morning.

Need to unload the van.

   / Good morning!!!! #49,651
Warm day here in East Oklahoma forecasted today. 2nd cup of coffee poured.
Got the shop straightened back out from the new big door being installed while I was gone. They installed the door track right under the fold down attic stairs so now can't open that. Idiots. I'll have to drop the track and turn the stair/door assembly around to work now. Little bit of brush hogging done which I lost yet another Tshirt to the rotary cutter after it fell off the tractor without me knowing.
Off to town for the ROPS lights I ordered in at the Post and deer corn for the empty feeder. Maybe visit my dad and pick up my old bandsaw and tombstone welder.
Got the AC drain cleaned out and all is well there so easy fix. Didn't go look at the MF35 yet. Drew, your new tractor sounds like a nice one!
Got a couple of bags of concrete mix I'm determined to use up this week so I can quit moving it from one side of the shop to the other. Just gotta figure out for what.

Everybody have a good day.

Hot and humid again, oh well. Getting ready for our big charity cruise in tomorrow(Cruise For A Cause), proceeds are donated to a worthy family, this year to the wife of a long time car and bike guy, former president of Late Great Chevies local chapter, and all around good guy. Don fought a 3 year battle with brain cancer.

74 this morning and headed to 90 today. Afternoon thunderstorms.

Well the rains held off till after dark. All the hay that was cut is now baled and equipment is back home. Except for 1 tractor which got left to move hay off the fields. Should be done today or tomorrow. Need to do a final count but think it's over 200 bales for the week. That's good but 60+ hours in 4 days catches up to you fast.

Need to go get some feed for the calves and run some errands.

Drew. Nice tractor. We have 2 MF both bigger and older. Enjoy.

Good morning all! Loving this fall weather, still hoping to get some camping in and also remember to spray some stubborn weeds...

   / Good morning!!!! #49,656
Congrats Drew, but you know the rules: Pics or it didn't happen!

when it gets here next week you'll get plenty of pics, I promise
Don, you're right, but this one doesn't have a FEL, only the Kubota. Don't think I'll buy another one, though my Long solid bottom
66 grapple is simply too big for my L. But it works, and I'm off right now to grapple some downed tree brush and logs.
And will do my very very best not to fall in the ditch with it.

Guess I'd better check my Wells Fargo accounts to see if anyone was padding my account
with fees. Headline financial news; how far up will heads roll? Is this our matching corporate greed story to VW?

Good evening all. 77F this morning and mostly clear, just high clouds today. Made it to 96F and a HI of 100+ with very erratic winds. Rode bike, mow a small patch, trimmed the back and started cleaning up flower beds, and getting ready for a lot of rain. Starting Wednesday, chance of rain over 50% through Sunday.
