69°F and .64 inches rain last 24 hours. Two major storms headed our way.

Great gathering of the old farts yesterday.
Sitters made it from Arkansas.

FF sounds like resounding success Don.

Be safe
Have a great day

That was a nicely thought out perspective and I can relate. Seems lately I look back and there was more undone than done on my list and all of it taking longer. When we designed the house my thought was this would be my last move that required packing, but in honestly I never accounted for the degree of upkeep. In my plan I've another 41 months before I'm mortgage free and then I could budget for help. Yea could have been sooner without those 2 major trips this year, but making them the priority was the right thing to do. I am blessed that my wife is still here but the memory that I came so close to losing her twice is never far back in my mind. Trying to keep her happy is a full time aspect I accept, although the she might disagree :) my major project for next year is converting a space for a little be in caretaker type, someone willing to exchange hours of yard work for a free place to live.

you bet, I've been thinking of that too. There is a huge unfinished area over my garage that could be converted to a big apartment, pretty reasonably, but it would mean a new septic system. Which since it's 30 years old probably is on its last legs anyway.

Thunderboomers banging away outside, system off shore seems to be sending some storms in and now a tropic storm warning for Tuesday. I knew it, all I had to do was hand water 45 trees...;)

Had a great time last night at my brother in law's. They had a great party, lots of friends and family to spend time with. Didn't get home until after 12, which is late for us. Slept in late, then off for a brunch, then furniture shopping, plus need a new refrigerator. Got the refrigerator, but was disappointed in the furniture we saw.

Off to dinner with neighbor's.

Eric, as soon as i started reading your swan post, i thought you probably had sunglasses on. My son figured that one out a couple weeks ago. Lol

Don, congrats on another successful event.

Gave my old JD 301A to my son-in-law. My new Mahindra 3540 needs the shed space. Was going to haul it 60 miles to his home. Got up at 5:45 to the sound of thunder. S-I-L to arrive about 7-7:30 when it starts to get light. Pouring rain and lots of mud at daylight. Finally at 8:30 the rain paused so texted son-in-law to come on over here. What's a little mud except slippery, dirty, and wet? Son-in-law arrives an hour and half later at 10:00. Granddaughter's school calls 10 minutes after he arrives to tell him she is sick. This project was doomed from the word go. I will have to rent the trailer again later on his next days off cycle in 10 days. The Mahindra will occupy the carport for a while longer.

The rain may have been a blessing. As I was leaving town yesterday I noticed a group of people attempting to load a pickup onto a tilt trailer. I stopped to watch as they were in a huge parking lot. The truck would not run so they were pushing it on with another truck. All went OK until the tilt bed of the tilt trailer dropped back to level. THEY FAILED TO LOCK THE TILT PORTION IN THE LEVEL POSITION so when the truck they were loading got forward enough that the front wheels cleared the tilt portion it tilted back down because the rear end was barely on the ramp. They tried to pull the truck on forward but all they managed to do was tear off the muffler. They finally had to jack the tilt portion down using jacks. SOMETHING TO REMEMBER.

Sodamo, a trip with your wifey should be at the top of your list.

Drew, many pros and cons to consider having a caretaker. But you never know. The right person could really be a blessing.

seabee, I love watching the boat ramp on Memorial Day weekend. Oh the calamity...

weather forecast way off, over two inches of rain in the last few hours
brings the month's totals back in line. And my fruit trees are definitely watered now.
Makes me wonder just how wet this week will be. And not good timing for a friend of mine who wants to bring his class A diesel pusher
up my driveway and hook into my rv outlet for the night before they take off on a long trip. He was hoping to do that Tuesday afternoon, right
when the tropical storm is supposed to hit. Not thrilled with the possibilities of ruts in the lawn though until this rain today the ground was hard and dry.

Not sure what rain will come tomorrow, but going to get a little lawn mowing done. At least no dust now...

I have done the daily required things and peeled some potatoes. Other than that I have been in my recliner looking at videos on the computer.

Drew That is part of the reason we are here. 1/3 of an acre is much easier than all of the work we did before, it was just to much.

Don, glad it turned out so well. Cool looking toy...someone there is a real artist...didn't you post a pic of one of his wood toys last year?

Don, glad you all had a successful FF. Did the free beer up the auction prices? :)

wngsprd, good memory, he made a TractorBH for us last year.

Kyle, that's the plan.

For example: another fire dept also gets his artistic creations but instead of having to come to a beer stand for the free beer they have girls with pitchers that walk around and fill up every half empty beer. His creation for them was a cedar cattle trailer/truck and it brought $5,000.

FF pick up/ clean up day is complete and the field has been turned over back to the cows. I am sooooo sore and tired. We are set for another year.

I will be making one more downsize move like Ed, but I'm enjoying the middle for a few more years.
I am seeing more and more things important enough to exert the effort required to get them done.

Good evening all. 72F this morning, again cloud at east and west horizons, calm wind. Temp made to 92F wind picked up mid afternoon, then calmed down after an hour. After chapel, went to stepdaughter for dirt shoveling, then nap, then neighbors came over and launched boat where stepdaughter joined us for an afternoon on the lake.

Don sounds like a very good fish fry.

Kyle boat ramps have always been a source of great entertainment!

Drew, sorry to hear of your health. I have not had an problem yet, really enjoyed my 3 acres the 30 year we had them. But the ability to get on a lake in 10 minutes has it's own charms and lees time mowing doesn't hurt either.

All of you that have special needs children have my prayers. I don't know that I could handle that.

Boat ride sounds like fun, I was a serious boater for the first 40 years of my adulthood.

A rather muggy 66 right now...but a fairly cool 76 as the high today.
First day of a 4 day systems audit...I guess I'm ready...

Good morning, with a gentle warm breeze and plenty of sunshine, it's hard to believe weather is so good for a public holiday.

Drew, 8 acres of lawn is a lot to keep up with. Having someone you can rely on to cut it while you are away sounds good to me. Can you save a little of the cost by reducing the mown area ? Around here I would be able to let it grow into a wild flower meadow that just gets occasionally cut by the tractor, or by sheep. I would keep a few curved paths mowed around the outside - a mobility scooter race track ! Before long those robot, self guided lawn mowers will surely improve. Either one big mower, or a herd of little robot mowers, constantly nibbling at the grass. You may still have to rescue them when it rains too hard, but you be good at that with all the turtle practice.

Kyle, I wouldn't want to disappoint your daughter, although I'm sure she will be patient once she knows I am trying. Please explain to Finnly that these are wild birds, free to come and go as they please. I always tell them they are welcome here anytime, although they often fly away when they fancy something different to eat, or to go and say hello to their friends and relatives in other parts. They always come back.

I don't have a mega-zoom camera and anyway, just like humans, I think it rude to take a picture of a swan when it doesn't want it taken. So perhaps Finnly could suggest what I should say to the swans before taking out my camera ? Maybe something like "Good morning swans, you are looking very beautiful again today. Please can I take your picture ?" ? I expect most days they will think no and swim away to the other end of the pond, but if I keep politely asking, I am sure they will allow me to eventually.

67F partly cloudy heavy air upper 70's for high.
Mrs. did very..very well fishing yesterday...yet to land large mouth bass this year tho.
Fingers cross this week at work will be whole lot better.

Enjoy the day all.

   / Good morning!!!! #49,237
Given enough patience the Mrs will catch a large mouth bass I'm sure Thomas

64 high of 91 later no rain and with this persistent NW flow we are getting very dry

   / Good morning!!!! #49,238
64 going to 91. Should be a nice day.

Roy, good luck with the audit.

Buppies, send rain. At least Drew got some.

My crystal ball shows a near future of mowing and bush hogging.

Drinking second cup of coffee. 66° with fog this morning. Heading to 83° with mix of sun and clouds. No plans for today. Little too hot for outside projects. Couple small ones inside.
Good Morning All.

2.20 inches of rain late yesterday when they predicted almost nothing, and now I see a hurricane warning?
Storm is supposed to just cruise over the Outer Banks before it is pushed off to sea. Expect it to be wet here for awhile, more rain later today also. Doesn't look like I'm getting any mowing done. Well, instead I think I'll go look at some metal carports locally, for the travel trailer.
