Kyle, just heard on the news that Giddings had a 5" rain yesterday, looks like you got shortchanged also.

I'm not complaining. I think most of the rain fell on the city and southeast of it. Also, lake somerville area looked like they got a lot.

Also sounds like you have 3/4 PVC. Grab a few shutoff valves and a crescent wrench. Turn water off at street and add the valves. Also use "blue glue" it will set up even if water is present. It's also called rain or shine. Not good under pressure but if you can't drain the lines completely it works.
Good luck.

Drew, I have found that if you glue one of those inline valves on with the valve open, the glue will hold even with the water on. Just let it run for a couple three minutes to let the glue set before you close the valve. I would turn on all the other spigots to get the flow as low as possible though. And make sure you dig up a long enough section of pipe that you can flex it to go in the new valve.

And buying a used truck might not be a bad idea. Lots of folks have a hunting and fishing truck. Just an old clunker to drive when you don't want to mess up the good one. You might save the thousand dollars a year the insurance will cost you in lower contractor cost. And you would fit in with your new neighbors better.

Good Morning. 1000, sunny, 86F {heat index 100} with 78% humidity. Forecast high of 92F with 50% chance of thunderstorms this afternoon, and a low of 72F tonight.

I don't have to go in to work until noon, so Margie is making an early lunch. My event for tonight is a kind of coming out party for a 15 year old girl of Honduran decent. This is a very big deal in their society, and they spent all day yesterday getting the Civic Center decorated. If the ladies who were there yesterday are an example of tonight, there will be lots of spandex in the place. And none of the ones who make you wish they had chose some other material for their pants.

69F and .03 inches rain last 24 hours. Falling lightly as I type and appears to be clearing.

Be safe
Have a great day.

Chainsaw and a grinder - rough cut is done by lunchtime, pics in a few days. It is suppose to be a (very) rough looking backwoods oblong 2' cajun bowl. Don't bother to googling it, this is an original.:D

Wow the Honda sounds like a good deal for you and the wife!

Yeah, it's a pretty nice vehicle...4WD and fairly well equipped. Used, of course...I don't buy new vehicles. One reason we bought this one is for the fuel economy...I drive 50 miles each way to work and the 15-18 MPG the truck gets isn't cutting it. I'll drive the Honda 2-3 days a week and should see 27-28 MPG and still do well in inclement conditions. The Subaru's fuel economy wasn't that good (24-25 MPG) and it was quite a bit lower (hard to get in and out). Good car, the Suby...but the CRV is easier in and out.
Another reason to drive the Honda is parking. Vermont parking lots seem to be laid out for small cars and the F-150 is a bit of a pain to park sometimes. But, every guy needs a truck and we intend to keep it quite a while longer.

I think smaller spaces are becoming more common generally ...

My van is pretty long (158" wheelbase, 12'+ of cargo area behind the seats) ... and it ends to hang out in the lane unless I pull into the opposing parking space in front of me.

When we had the GMC 3500 double cab, 8ft bed, I dreaded most parking lots, WallyWorld being the worst.

About to head out to the Aggie/Rice game. Taking the rain panchos because it has been drizzling all day. Not complaining. We need it.

Hope they have Kyle Field covered or else it might be a mud run.
