Drew, I wonder where the Pioneer is made and how their quality is? I know some quality things come out of China, but for the most part, you have to take the Chinese business model of profits over quality out of the equation. My GM V6 3.4L with 315,000 miles was made in China.

Kyle, my nephew, who has his own AC/heating business, installs them and just installed on for his parents, in the master bedroom, and they love it. He is putting a bid in to install a couple of 2 tons in a community building out here. You do need to have an empty slot in your electrical box and a 1 1/2" hole through the wall for the copper and the drain line and know how to put the coolant in. They are cheaper to install because no ductwork is involved. They also are effective heat pumps to below zero, (some below) and have no heater coils. They are also a lot more energy efficient because they are variable speed at the compressor. They do not take a window out of the room which is also a big plus.
Don, I got a ballpark quote of $5000 to install a new 4 ton 16 SEER unit with a new air handler and electric furnace. Way too much for my budget. I have found the same equipment online for about $2500 delivered. The problem is, with out a licensed installer to sign off on the install, you have NO warranty.
Do the mini splits use Glycol to deliver the cold or heat? Or does freon run up to an evap coil?
I got a long list of to do items done. Trying to keep up with rs and Rng today I guess.

Went to the bank.
Went to B&W food store for some ground meat.
Got the kids some ICEE's for being good.
Came home and started cleaning out the barn. I needed to get a lot of stuff situated, some stuff thrown out.
Put new coolant overflow tank on the Deere 4310. Checked engine oil. Checked front differential oil level. The little Deere could use some new plastic, but I can use it for probably a few more years before it really needs replaced. 14 years old as of now, and mostly stays outside.
Figured out what was causing the Gator to run on one cylinder. One of the float bowls must've been stuck. A little bit of tinking on the bottom and side of the carb and she purrs again.
I got about 2 acres of very tall johnson grass and bunch grass weeds shredded with the 4310. It sure wasn't built for mowing that kind of stuff. I can bog down the 84 hp big brother 5420 with only a 6' cutter in this stuff.
