Good morning!!!!

80 degrees and a very pleasant day. Powerwashed my rear deck and about half of the front of the house; boy mold grows here quickly. The garage front is the worst; due to the night light on all night attracting bugs. So all that water splashing around kept me cool and the house looks much better with the green off. Temporarily.

Might be getting into big trouble.
Thinking about buying another tractor.
An older used one to keep the rototiller on, an old IH or MF, lots around. Small budget, about 5 grand.
something like this: TractorHouse.com | 1975 INTERNATIONAL 574 For Sale
I should post in the IH section and get some advice on which models were preferred. Many of the older IH tractors in this hp range were British
or German interestingly.

Good afternoon all, 82 at 1pm going to 88 with a 20% chance of showers this Pm. Got up late, 6:15 and went to a big yard sale at Expo Land. (the county fair grounds) and bought a bunch of old woodworking tools. Couple hand planes, one for parts and a scraper plane were the big things. Got a scrap of granite counter top for a flat place to flatten the soles of the planes. Going to loaf for the rest of the day, maybe even a nap.

Eric I am to chicken to shave more than a little patch, I don't like stitches.

Gave a great day. Ed

Ed,
I have the Mitsubishi Slimline model. Love it. One outside unit is feeding two bedrooms upstairs which have their own wall unit mounted up near the ceiling. Completely quiet, remote controls for each room. Electric went down about 20%.
They had a model for 4 rooms but I just put a new heat pump in for my downstairs unit a year before so I only did the upstairs.
I highly recommend them.
Lenny

Thanks, I need air con and heat in the 20x12 shop and figured that a mini split might be a good fit.

No such thing as just a pocket knife, Ed. When I used to fly a lot, I had to leave mine at home and I felt naked without it. Now I carry two: a tiny Mini Champ Swiss Army, and a Benchmade folder that by now is so used I can't even find a model number on it. I've come to learn that the Mini Champ is very good at slipping out of my pocket, especially on those rare occasions where I have to wear dress pants. So I have a brand new spare sitting in a drawer for the next time that happens. And there are a bunch of old past favorite pocket knives in that same drawer.

Life's too short to be long without a favorite pocket friend, and compared to other guilty pleasures, a great knife if very affordable.

I have been carrying a knife for a long time. I remember the grade school teachers borrowing my knife. Very wrong to me to carry a folding utility knife because I could not find my pocket knife. It feels good in there. Ed

I was looking at the pricing for the Mitsubishi mini splits and they are still really pricey IMO. Are they cheaper to install? I assume you have to run copper up to the coils?

Kyle, my nephew, who has his own AC/heating business, installs them and just installed one for his parents, in the master bedroom, and they love it. He is putting a bid in to install a couple of 2 tons in a community building out here. You do need to have an empty slot in your electrical box and a 1 1/2" hole through the wall for the copper and the drain line and know how to put the coolant in. They are cheaper to install because no ductwork is involved. They also are effective heat pumps to below zero, (some below) and have no heater coils. They are also a lot more energy efficient because they are variable speed at the compressor. They do not take a window out of the room which is also a big plus.

And they are also whisper quiet. Outside and Inside as well.

Amazon.com: Pioneer Ductless Wall Mount Mini Split INVERTER Air Conditioner with Heat Pump, 12 BTU (1 Ton), 15 SEER, 28~23 VAC, Full Set: Home & Kitchen

Kyle, Amazon surprisingly sells minisplits and this seems to get good reviews. I'm guessing a Mitsubishi or Samsung is higher quality but who knows.
Drew, I wonder where the Pioneer is made and how their quality is? I know some quality things come out of China, but for the most part, you have to take the Chinese business model of profits over quality out of the equation. My GM V6 3.4L with 315,000 miles was made in China.

Drew, I sometimes would like a tractor for each implement.

Don, I got a ballpark quote of $5000 to install a new 4 ton 16 SEER unit with a new air handler and electric furnace. Way too much for my budget. I have found the same equipment online for about $2500 delivered. The problem is, with out a licensed installer to sign off on the install, you have NO warranty.

Do the mini splits use Glycol to deliver the cold or heat? Or does freon run up to an evap coil?

I got a long list of to do items done. Trying to keep up with rs and Rng today I guess.

Got some brownie points by making coffee and washing the dishes.
Son and I both got haircuts.
Went to the bank.
Went to B&W food store for some ground meat.
Got the kids some ICEE's for being good.
Came home and started cleaning out the barn. I needed to get a lot of stuff situated, some stuff thrown out.
Put new coolant overflow tank on the Deere 4310. Checked engine oil. Checked front differential oil level. The little Deere could use some new plastic, but I can use it for probably a few more years before it really needs replaced. 14 years old as of now, and mostly stays outside.
Figured out what was causing the Gator to run on one cylinder. One of the float bowls must've been stuck. A little bit of tinking on the bottom and side of the carb and she purrs again. :)

I got about 2 acres of very tall johnson grass and bunch grass weeds shredded with the 4310. It sure wasn't built for mowing that kind of stuff. I can bog down the 84 hp big brother 5420 with only a 6' cutter in this stuff.

Pouring rain in the form of Cats and Dogs right now, with many training storms behind this one.

Kyle, rain staying west of us ...... So far. We've had 7" since last Saturday. Was out mowing around and under trees in the horse pasture and managed to get Zero Turn stuck. This only happens when I'm as far from the shop as possible so, long walk back to get Polaris Ranger and tow strap. Took about two minutes to get the ZT to firm ground. Drove Polaris back to shop then long walk back to pasture. One hour of lost time. I knew I was pushing it in the area where I was but, duh!

Strange how that "stuck" thing happens when you are not right near your backup help.

We've got 1.6" in 30 minutes and it finally let up. I even "let" TxDon have some rain. At least I tried to send it that way.

Some of the Austin TV stations are forecasting up to 16" south of Austin by tomorrow night. Hope it comes reasonably slow.
