Good morning!!!!

Poured second cup of coffee. 68° with partly cloudy skies this morning. Heading to 90° with strong thunderstorms in the afternoon. The 3 test I took over the last 2 weeks came back yesterday. I am a healthy old guy according to the test. Scheduled for hernia surgery Monday morning. I could do a whole thread on CYA healthcare. But it's over and by Monday afternoon I will be on the mend. Clean the garden pond today. Then do some little projects that I will not be able for the next couple of weeks.
Irv, poor hungry fox. That will teach it to go after your chickens. I don't think this will be your last chance at shooing it away.
Ed, congrats's on the new house and moving this coming week.
Good Morning All.
Ron, hope your procedure heals fast and I'm especially glad to hear you are healthy.

61 going to 93 and hot.

Took advantage of the last day of spring like weather yesterday and hiked Shenandoah with my wife and Coco. Found a great new trail from the bottom up a steep gorge with lots of 600 million year old basalt columns - Little Devil's Stairs...crossing the creek 11 times and lots of small waterfalls...5.3 miles using Keyser Run as a loop trail. Up on the top of the ridge found an old cemetery with some graves so old they were marked with a rock stuck upright into the ground. Two married couples were there looking for relatives...one man's grandfather had lived on the mountain before the government moved the families off to establish the national park 80 years ago.
You must be in great shape. Also fortunate to have that wonderful expanse to utilize and appreciate.

Ron, hope the surgery goes easily and you are fully on the mend later next week. You will likely be sore for awhile...

going to be a hot clear day today, going out to wash my truck before the sun is up fully.
then to plant the rest of my sunflowers.
Lefthanded, my right wrist, hand and elbow are on the fritz. Can hardly hold up a full coffee cup. Have my favorite worn out wrist band on, cinched up tight. Arthritis issues deep in my wrist, carpal tunnel symptoms (I've already had the surgery on this hand) but worse, the joint "pops" and it feels like I'm being hit with a cattle prod. I think I need a zerk fitting there and some good grease.;)

and there's nothing they can do about it. Except for me to stop working and that isn't going to happen.
I can plant sunflowers lefthanded with one finger...
It's a beautiful morning and I hope you all have a great weekend.

Drew, I truly hope that your wrist gets better.

75F and a mix of clouds and sun @ 09:30 ... headed up to a high of 88F with the possibility of a strong afternoon thunderstorm. Cool front comes thru tonight, high tomorrow is only predicted to be 73F.

Since I have the backhoe on the tractor currently, probably be a good idea to see what needs done with it.

I can think of at least 5 stumps that need dug out ... more may come to mind as I think on it a bit.

Need to refill all the bird feeders and water transplanted trees.

Wow, RS, that's a lot of trench for one day!
You're telling me ... :D

I was on the tractor from around noon until probably 21:30 or so ... with a short break for chow around 16:00 or so.

We did have two TLB's and operators tho' ...

Wish I could have talked him into renting a mini-ex ... could have had one guy digging and the other laying conduit ... wouldn't been quite as painful.

Must not've been many rocks or roots to deal with?
Yup ... pretty minimal on both, at least in the area I worked.

Congrats on the new camera.

Ron,

Good to hear you pretty much got a clean bill of health.

Take it easy until you get the surgery done and have had a chance to heal up.

Drew,

I hear ya on the aches and pains.

My right elbow has pretty much become a constant source of pain ... likely from all the wood splitting a few years back.

Probably not near as bad as what you have going there, but nonetheless very annoying.

Already up to 81F in only 1/2 an hour ... time to get moving.

Hi guys, well we got just about everything trimmed but one section of the lane that was not to bad yet. Will do that later, maybe next month. I worked Dan the some day maybe SIL like a dog. LOL

Was hot as heck yesterday and will be worse today high 90S.

Even fired up the Triumph T160 and took it for a spin. No plans today, got to go to the post office and pick up a package the sub was to lazy to bring down the lane to the house and get some beer since we drank it all up yesterday.

49 now...65 and rain (thunderstorms) in the prediction.
I'd like to finish mowing this morning. Yesterday was perfect for mowing...but the dog had been stuck in the house all day (wife and step-daughter went to Manchester, NH) and I played outside with Bella rather than mow. I figure by 0900 it should be dry enough to mow.

Did get the mowing done, and some of the trimming, before the rain came (light showers). Rest of the day...nothing in particular, but maybe some more trimming. I got a new string trimmer (described on "Good Morning" a few days back) and I'm really enjoying the increase in power and battery life!

Someone asked earlier about the lost kayaker on Lake Oroville. It's been five or six days since he went missing, and there's been no sign of him since they found his boat and car on day two. This morning I got a call from one of the sheriff's search and rescue teams asking for permission to search the lake shore below the house. They were at the gate, so I gave them the code and a few minutes later one of them knocked on the door. He asked if I'd seen or heard anything unusual, but I hadn't. I showed him the way down to the lake through the back yard, and wished him luck.

Their helicopter has been sweeping the shoreline daily (he's outside right now), but still no sign. The searcher I spoke with was pretty sure that by now "he was in the water somewhere", and I wondered how long it took for a body to float to the surface to where it can be recovered. It's probably 150' to the bottom where the boat was found.

RNG, great pics. I love the one of all the mondo houseboats all anchored out right next to each other.
Toppop I think you're right. I got all my work done, truck clean, sunflower seeds planted, came in and showered and then compared hands. My right one is about 25% larger than the left, clearly swollen and full of fluid. I guess it's talking to me...I took an extra muscle relaxer which makes me want to take a nap, which really is what I should be doing with this hand. I'll let the rest of my body tag along...

Just a beautiful Saturday here. Filled one hummingbird feeder, need to do the others. I had one fly into my garage and even with both doors open, it could not figure out how to get out. Flew around for a day, then likely died. They need to eat constantly and nothing in the garage they would like. I felt badly for the little thing but clearly my "shoo-ing" did not get him to drop down five feet and fly out the opening; he/she kept circling around at ceiling height. Too far out of natural environment to figure out what to do.

I love the one of all the mondo houseboats all anchored out right next to each other.

Those boats sit there 99% of the time. Maybe every other weekend I see one come up the canyon, but since most of the lake is below where I live, most have sense enough to go the other way. Regardless, the mooring is full every time I go by it on the bridge to the south. Even a cheapie boat costs $50K, and that just doesn't seem like a good fun/$$$ ratio to me.:confused2:

Same thing happened to a bird here a couple winters ago. Tried shooing him out with a broom, and failed for the same reason. Had to leave for a month long trip, so I hung a quart feeder up in the garage, closed the door, and hoped for the best. When I returned I heard a squawk as the garage door opened, and there he was, hovering looking right at me. Still wouldn't leave the garage though. So I hung the feeder outside the sliding glass back door, which I left open, and he was gone the next day. But every once in a while a male bird will come into the garage while I'm working out there and take a lap looking around at everything, and then come over to me and hover for a bit. I guess he's just saying 'hi', or maybe thanks?

Good morning. I am ready for this sit down with a cup of tea after an early morning chasing sheep. Today the best lambs are being selected, weighed and marked ready for market next week. Max may be a little dog but he is quite good at getting the stubborn ones to move on - occasionally in the right direction too.

That's a super, super-zoom RNG. The image stabilisation must be doing a lot of work at full zoom, are you able to shoot at 40x without a tripod ?

When a hummer gets trapped in a garage, close the door when dark, turn out all lights, and wait an hour.
The hummer will relax and sit on the floor.
Take your flashlight and locate him and gently pick him up in your cupped hand and release him outside.

This has worked for me several times. They don't seem to mind being picked up

Poured first cup of coffee. 58° with clear skies this morning. Heading to 75° with mostly sunny skies. Got no rain. Cut the lawn for the last time today. Son and grandson are going take over that job for a couple of weeks. Relax and watch NASCAR in afternoon.
Thanks all for the well wishes. I had the same surgery done on left side in 2000. After 2 surgery's and 7 weeks of recovery I was able to go back to work on very light duty. I am hoping for a better results this time. Good part is I was able to spend time and research buying a new Kubota tractor. I joined the original Kubota forum that became TBN during my recovery. Still have the tractor. But less than 500 hours on it. That's another story. I have put close to 1000 hours on a B2910 at my place.
RNG, like your pictures. I have a couple of camera's that can do those kind of pictures. But alas my iPhone 6 gets much more use.
Drew, give your body some rest. Being sore all the time is no fun.
RS, digging 540' of trench would be a good days work with my B2910's BH.
Good Morning All.
