Good morning everyone.

Beautiful sunrise today. Heading to 85 deg. and sunshine. A little time to dry out here.
Hope all those in the flooded areas are managing and starting to get back to normal.

Thank you to all the veterans out there. Please take time today to remember all those who keep us safe.
Keep a special place in your heart for those that are no longer with us.

65 and wet, going to 80.

Got the tomatoes and peppers planted just before rains came in yesterday. Roasted coffee during the rain so I'd have some to take over to friends today for a cookout.

62 right now...still pretty wet from last evening's rain. The rain did cool things down significantly. The predicted high is 85 and a 40% probability of rain.
No outside chores today...guess I'll putter around inside.

Good morning! 72˚ thunder in the distance rain heading this way. I'll forward TBN"s good suggestions to Christy. The grass/weeds are up to the windshield of the UV, but the ground is too mushy to even mow a strip to drive on. The next predicted dry day is June 8th.

With the floods Christy is busy. However, her last catch did a number on her windshield.
Alligator breaks windshield of local trapper's car - Houston Chronicle

I wonder how you explain that to the insurance company? :)

Off to Sons place to celebrate Memorial Day.
Remember Those Who Sacrificed Their Freedoms For Ours.
Good Morning All

There are "scads" of American graves around the world of those who gave all. Many have no grave or marker.

Freedom ain't free. Some just give it away nowadays. It ain't about furniture, car, or mattress sales, it should be a solemn and celebratory day to remember our fallen, and celebrate our freedoms and patriotism. Teach your children and grandkids well about why we have this day.

Blessed are those heroes who gave all.

I would like to thank all of you for the special thoughts and prayers for my mom. She is doing quite well, and insisted on staying at her home in lieu of coming up here for a few days of rehab.

She's a 1929 model, and remembers her family moving in with her grandmother during the depression. Born in Cuero Texas, her dad was a Mason and her mother did the Eastern Star thing. I have given it some thought, but having kids late in life, with this land to take care of, I just have no spare time. Sometimes, I think about moving closer to work, on a smaller lot, but I really love this place.

65.5F and clear @ 08:00 ...cold front came thru last night. High today predicted to be around 80F - 82F with lots of sun. Warmer through Wednesday then a little cooler, with a possibility of a thunderstorm on Thursday.

Was all kinds of thunderstorm activity around us yesterday ... especially last evening, when we went over to some friends for an impromptu picnic. Line of storms was moving in just about the time we were heading home. But I don't think we ended up getting hardly a drop. I remember looking at the monthly rain totals a few days ago and it read 3.39" - today it shows 3.40".

Got rototiller and fuel pump picked up yesterday. Managed to get the fuel pump pulled off the Simplicity before we headed out for the picnic. Was a real PITA to get to the screws that held it on ... had to remove the carb and intake manifold, which pooched the gaskets on the manifold. Would like to get it back together today, but I don't know that I'm going to be able to find someplace open today that has the gaskets in stock.

The rototiller was indeed "repaired" with a couple of angle brackets and duct tape ... too funny ...

It might be getting dry enough that we can get the weeds and leaves in the area around the polebarn cleaned up. Have a drain line to fix over there and the gutters all need cleaned as well. After that's done, I need to move a huge pile of gravel from the south side to the inside, so it can be screened and then start putting up the insulation and visqueen around the outside perimeter.

Have a clump or two of hostas on the east side of the house I need to move and can then fill in and grade most of that area. Only thing left, that needs to go, is a huge Japanese Yew on the corner. It's probably 12' tall ... will be a real treat trying to transplant that. Think it has a robin's nest in it.

Also need to check the attic in the garage to see if the bees are up there.

Didn't get any steel cut ... :(

67 this morning and headed to 88 today.

Will be headed out to check on the hay and see how its drying. Decide then if it's going to need a tedder. Then back to the chicken coops. To finish decrusting.

It's Memorial Day so remember the purpose of the day. To remember all who paid for the rest of us to be free.
