Good morning all. These last couple of days have seen some hard frosts. It may be late coming but at last it feels almost like a normal winter, having to remove ice from the car windscreen before venturing out. Always makes me shiver when I realise we are a good deal colder than Roy.

Got a call yesterday to say the Stihl brush cutter has arrived so hope to go pick it up this afternoon.

Larro, what a great greenhouse to avoid of the worst of the weatherunderground ! It would be interesting to have a thermometer on the inside and out to see just how much of a difference that makes on a cold night.

44 and windy going to 54. Rain has stopped and hopefully the drying has started.

All fields, creeks, and road ditches are flooded.

33F now upper 40's for high more rain on the way than showers before evening.

Can hear the streams/brooks rushing water and the driveway mostly icy. :(

Enjoy the day all.

33 this morning high of 37 later wind blew hard all night long. Pretty good rains yesterday severe storms close by. Lots of damage to the east of us with loss of life. Prayers for their loved ones and friends

47 going to 57 today in 35mph gusts at the moment. Noisy night last night with all the howling and moaning of high winds going
through the woods.

I should go back and get another 20 bags of stone for the garden but perhaps I'll have a smart attack and wait another day on that.
Instead, a trip over to HF to get some steering wheel pullers and a pipe bender is in order this morning.

Now to head outside and see what kind of mess I have. Mother Nature's pruning...
Definitely going to call a neighbor with two teenage boys who have worked here before, and did fine, and see if they can come Saturday
and rake the entire place.

Poured first cup of coffee. 57° with clear skies this morning. Heading to 83° with sunny skies. Not much planned again today. Just enjoy the warm sun on patio.
Hope everyone is safe from the bad weather.
Good Morning All.

I was praying for y'all on the east coast. Some horrific damage in areas. Loss of life too. I wish I had a storm shelter.

Wifey making coffee. I'm going into work an hour late so that I can take the kids to school. Tomorrow is my off Friday. Have to help some friends move.

Have a good day all.

37F here

Gee from the rest of you guys I guess our 37mph winds and 1.5 inches of rain made for a nice day yesterday. 45 now going to around 65 then down to 35 tonight. No frost warnings which is good for the garden. Helping friends the next 2 days, today I am replacing a shower valve in a MH shower, and tomorrow I am stripping a roof and setting a metal roof on a small house.

36 this morning and headed to 40 today. Looks like a chance of afternoon showers.

Need to go pickup taxes and go get feed today. But after the long hydrant move my road to the barn is mush. So gravel will have to be spread because even my 4x4 with a ton of feed for weight hates anything much deeper than the wheels. Guess I can always off load to pallet and use tractor. But where's the fun in that. I know not having to drag truck out with the dozer.

Glad everyone made it through the storms safe. Always hate hearing about lost life.

Have a good'n.

Good morning! 38 degrees this morning (feels like is 34) and forecast for low 70's this afternoon.

Winds finally went down. Got gusts over 45 mph Tuesday afternoon.

Back working on the horse pasture today, cleaning up some dead trees.

Guys,

We dodged the bullet yesterday. It snowed light all day but nothing stuck. 60 miles east they got 14" of the white stuff. All the news can talk about today. So the tractor sits with the snow plow on it ready for the next adventure. 34 now and will go to 40 later.

Those storms out east were bad. I always feel bad when tornadoes hit because we have been there and done that. Lost every house on our street back at Plainfield in 1990. Over 1,100 homes destroyed, over 550 people injured and 27 people died. Prayers for those who were in the path yesterday.

I got a hold of a friend of mine who delivers bulk fuel for Farm Service that I worked with back in the 80s and set him on the trail to find me and fuel transfer tank I can put in the cold side of the shed to fill the JD from. So he is going to ask around and see if he can find me something good, used & cheap. Funny I have not talked to him in over 20 years and he knew who I was right off.

Eric, good luck with the Stihl brush cutter.
Rick, WOW that is one bad a$$ed grapple.

Better get a cup of coffee and get doing something.

Good Morning. 0805, sunny, 46F with 78% humidity. Forecast high of 63F with no chance of rain today, and a low of 39F tonight. We had a pretty good frost on the roofs, didn't see any on the ground. {low was 39F} As fast as my little plants are growing, I need to get past this last frost watch in a hurry. After I up potted the two peppers and green onions that I had wintered inside, then did the 10 new peppers, the hole was about 2/3 full.

Prayers for all in the path of the storms. You guys have a good one,

Larro

33.2F with light snow/mist @ 09:00 ... ground is covered but whatever fell on the driveway melted.

Gathered up the crap (mostly clothes) the junkies - Seth Austen Finch and Jaime L Simone (aka Jami L Larlham) - left here ... just want it out of our space. Will drop it off at the local clothes donation bin at some point, hopefully someone that is in need and truly deserving of help will get it.

I did keep one momento however - a shirt with the following on it:

It's only funny until someone gets hurt ... then it's hilarious!

Probably provides a little insight into what they were all about.

I got out yesterday just before dark to clean up storm debris. In the old days I would have called it picking up limbs. But since You Tube has taught me that I'm a bush-crafter, I know now what I was doing was "processing firewood." And the little limbs that are so heavy with Spanish moss they break four times before you get them in the truck. Those used to be a major pain in the butt. But now I know that is "tender", the most prized of bush-craft possessions. I should go on You Tube and offer to sell it to the poor souls who wonder in the woods for hours {with camera rolling} searching for suitable tender. Dried of course. Last night when I started the campfire with my fire steel, I had to use a little dryer lint to get my rain dampened tender to catch:eek:

Around 50° now, cooling throughout the day. A couple of cold days coming, then back in the 60's by Sunday. We had gusts over 60 MPH and about 3/4" of rain, I had to put the trash cans in the garage, one was traveling down the driveway, trying to escape.

You make storm cleanup sound so romantic! I better get out back and start processing my tender and kindling! :D

I have lots of that tender and kindling, but must hurry because I hope to make it bonfires on Sunday. :D

Before YouTube came along, we all suspected there were really stupid "experts" out there. Now with all those videos on line, our suspicions have been confirmed! Another reason they should have called it You Boob...

Good Morning! 51F @ 6:45 AM. Mostly sunny. High 74F. Winds light and variable.

Mostly office work yesterday, but did get out and sprayed 15 gallons of 3% glyphosate along the driveway edges in hopes of keeping the grass length in check along the easement. Sure is a lot easier using the little boom sprayer than going after it with a weed wacker later! Also learned that the brand new fancy pump I installed on the sprayer last year is already acting up. It would only put out 25 psi while spraying, but if I opened the bypass valve so pressure dropped to zero, then closed it, pressure would quickly jump to 60 causing the controller to shut off the pump motor. But no matter how many times I repeated that the spray pressure would never go over 25 psi. So there's another job lined up for my "spare time". :confused2:

And for the second morning in a row I awoke to having no Internet connection. Both times, cycling the power on the fairly new router got things going again, so it appears I'll have to take that in for an exchange next week, too. Lucky me, as I seem to have gotten one of the 25% of the bad ones that every manufacturer seems to be putting out these days.

But these are small complaints; the weather here has been so fine it's hard to grumble much. T-shirt weather in February is really nice for doing chores outside, but if it's already this warm, I'm not looking forward to August...
